  • New York's new minimum wage law is getting mixed reviews, as the companies who opposed the change have responded by limiting workers hours, making it more difficult for customers to tip.

Those delivery jobs were reserved for teens, who delivered pizza on the weekends and on Fridays, in the evening, after school.
Additionally, fast food employers hired a lot of teens (on a part-time basis). In the 1990s, there were so many part-time jobs available for teens.

Now these chinese food stores are adding their own taxes to the bill, so you pay about 2 dollars extra and the food is like 11-12 bucks a plate.

First the male news achorer is an idiot what did he say? "Reduced hours makes it difficult for customers to tip?" That doesn't make any sense. The real issue is that receiving errand request with decent frequency so you dont waste your time is no longer happening. You get 1 errand request for every 2 hours or so so in the end you are not making much money after this nyc law thing. Then the complainers that do this in the video were blaming customers not tipping. Wrong again it is the reduced frequency of errand request coming in that is causing the pay to not be any better.

Should learn a trade to find a better paying job with an addition to moving to affordable place to live. Aim for long term goals that will pay off better, literally. Cut down on unnecessary costs or live within means. We have all been there, sacrifices have to be made for a better future in the long run. There are plenty of jobs, you just have to keep on sending on those applications and check for new postings everyday.

If restaurants are forced to pay more, they'll just choose not to use the app for their food deliveries. If they don't make much money on deliveries, there's no point in wasting their time and resources. It's just like California, they increased the minimum wage and people became unemployed. Restaurants and other businesses closed due to bad laws.

It's really a double-edged sword they got what they asked for they got the wage they wanted.
Somehow they thought they were going to get the tips on top of it and it was going to be amazing.
If anybody has ordered for any of these apps the prices are ridiculous and now they pump up the fees and then they don't include the tip anymore they put it at the end.
I mean if you're making 20 to $30 an hour and your demand for increase pay and I believe it's deserved if you didn't think it was going to be passed on to the customer how are you going to get your extra pay?
Basically you got to suck it up it's something you fought for you did anything through you thought customers were just going to be like oh that's great you're making more money now and I'm paying a lot more and for this I'm going to even tip you on top of it.
You have to realize that's delusional.
The people ordering from these apps probably aren't making much more then the delivery drivers per hour.
Be careful what you wish for!
Be careful what you demand for.

This industry flourished during the pandemic. From the git it’s days we’re numbered. The prices are unsustainable in that they’ve depended on cheap labor. These workers don’t understand that. If you can’t support your family in “your country” then maybe you should go back to “your country”. Delivering food is not a career.
