2:55 evidence of a bloody battle during dress rehearsal for this epic treatise in watch repair 😂 seriously he’s an honest lad, takes balls to admit your failings whilst entertaining us, well done 🏆
It is very honest of you to admit and even advertise your failure like this. I must admit, I've tried regulating a Sewor with the same standard Chinese watch movement. I had no succes either. I do have the proper tools to open and close the pop caseback, but the movement just did not react to the micro adjustment at all. My watch is still working, it looks good, but the accuracy is way off. I have two Tevise watches and they've done a little better, but not great. I just accepted this fact and moved on.
Thanks - appreciate that! That's interesting to note that you watches didn't react much. I'll probably try another Tevise sometime in the future - maybe the blue dialed one - and will keep that in mind.
In my opinion you'd be much happier with an old Russian Raketa or Poljot watch, cheap, tough and you can actually regulate them but LOOK UP HOW TO DO THIS before trying to!
thanks for this video - can I use the same technique on my 1960s Rolex GMT Master? should I use a can opener to remove the back or just break the glass and take everything out the front?
This watch is difficult and heard to wind up.. get the Invicta. You'll love it.. I also have Tommy Hilfiger and Versace ànd Kenneth Cole Michael Kors and Time X Casio and more
You don't usually find snap on Case backs on diving-style watches, except obviously on very inexpensive Chinese ones. Cheap tools to remove that style of back are easy to find on Amazon, etc. I ended up also buying a watch press to press that type of case back onto watches, because sometimes they're nearly impossible without the press.
Thank you, your mistake helped me with my open hearth chineese watch, I moved wrong lever too in the begining, but now my forsining is making +0,3 second a day when it's left on the table :)
You adjust the regulator, the one with the index pins either side of the hair spring. Not the beat error control lever !!. Now you need a Timegrapher to set the beat error. Best either learn or leave watches alone.
I messed up a vintage Bulova automatic . It was running fast . I think it is running fast still . I'm going to need to take it in for a service now and spend more money on it . It is from 1960 and I want to keep it . Live and learn . Lol
i love that you're posting on the tevise. these are cheap but attractive and interesting. imo people getting into watches should be buying these and playing with them instead of obsessing over expensive watches. fwiw i'd love to know if any non-automatic tevise movements fit in the t801a, or if any parts from the cheap quartz version interchange (eg the date dial). but jesus, man ... focus btw, the correct amount to move a lever (when you find the right one) is the smallest amount possible
I absolutely love my t801 even though it is an absolute piece of garbage. Put a ceramic bezel insert on it looks amazing. The one thing I am majorly disappointed in this wrist watch is the self Winder absolutely does nothing. It was put on as an afterthought I'm sure. Sweet little watches though. Also extremely hard to wind, and yes it does have to be wound due to the fact that the self Winder does not work LOL. Get lots of comments on it though
Greetings from Germany 👋❤
You put the back on with your foot!? Dude whatttttt LOL I'm shocked it didn't break. Says a lot about the quality of the back. I had a cheap Fossil once that would never go back together, because the caseback warped.
Quick advice for opening - you can use the same screwdriver, not pushing it with hand, but with small hit with a hammer at the end of the screwdriver, so that it gets rapid kick. This way you can open very stuck cases. Also you can sharpen your screwdriver using fine sand paper - the result is fantastic.
With all due respect to you, you moved the wrong one, LOL. You adjusted the beat error lever. instead of a tic, tic, tic it is now tic, tac, tic, tac. Invest in a time-grapher instrument. it's very inexpensive. I believe every collector of manual watches must have one anyway. I always watch your great video, BTW.
Get a cheap time grapher off of Aliexpress if you look you can find one for $50 dollars with contact microphone and readjust the beat frequency to what it should be, DON'T ever touch the big lever unless you have a time grapher but that being said once you do set the beat frequency properly, getting it fairly accurate to about plus or minus 15 seconds a day should be easy, it's about the best these Chinese watches can do and you will see that the graph will be still pretty bad even when properly running. These things are about as precise as trying to to calligraphy with a white board marker pen.
Hey Austin!! I have this exact same watch and it just suddenly stopped working!! I wind it and it doesnt seem to be working. Do you know what's wrong?? :(
No idea. There are a lot of parts, and if just one of them fails the whole movement can be effected. You could always crack it open a try and tinker with it.
I got one of these and the spring by the bezel un clipped! And it wouldn’t go back in. Just pinged out whilst on my wrist! Is this common with this watch? Other wise I won’t bother replacing
I have 9 of these and the backs are easy with the right tool, a screwdriver is not right, you need the sort of side bladed short knife and you use leverage once the blade is engaged.
when i regulate a watch i let it go for 4 hours and multiply. i think you moved it quite a bit and it is really going to speed up, maybe too much. that watch may be different, we shall see. i have been bloody before also. lol. cant wait to hear how this turns out.
You are absolutely right. ...Looks like I'm going to have to confess...OK, here it is: I started recording, opened up the case, gave it a blood sacrifice, regulated it, and closed the case. Watching the video of my handiwork, I realized I had messed up; I had made it SLOWER! (>
i watched the direction you went and thought about it, but thought you must know what you are doing. that always confuses me also. but, in my experience, moving that level a hair makes a difference. i would do it, leave the case partially on to protect the movement, just let it lay there, wait 4 hours or some increment of 24 and multiply. or you could be patient and wait 24 hours and adjust. YOUR OPINION, new grey market black sub (no date, ceramic) OR GMT 2 black also grey market. i have narrowed to that. i may go SUB. my 1st rolex. i really want gmt batman, but they selling for too much, 11k grey market new.
I'd go for the GMT. It's just my opinion, but that's what I'd go with and here's why; you have those 2 extra functions on the GMT. You don't always need the date, but then you do, it's nice to look down and have it. If you have the Sub and you need the date, will you regret it? There are a several reasons...I think I'll make a vid on it. But short answer, I'd go GMT. By the way, is it a ceramic or aluminum bezeled GMT that you are talking about?
both a NEW and grey market, so Ceramic Bezel. you dont save much going used over grey market, esp when you factor in a servicing if a piece needs it. also, like you said, no polishing issues, etc etc. I like the sub you have, NO DATE. i was really thinking of getting the black sub no date. i really like the GMT batman, but that is 11k, even grey market.
I have one of those. Exactely the same color. But the winding stem broke inside of the crown. I'm not sure if I can save the crown. Do you know if there is any specification so I can buy a new stem (and maybe a crown)? Thanks!
Thanks for the video. It has helped me open the clock. Can someone show or explain how to remove the crown from this watch? I need to put the seconds hand in its place (it has left out)
neil piper I agree, it’s the small lever to the right that he should have adjusted, I’ve seen professionals on RUclips say NEVER touch the lever on the left.
hi the crystal is broken on mine. do you know what is he size of the crystal for this watch (diameter and thickness). Also how do you replace it do you need to open the watch/ thanks
You did not adjust the timing you moved the beat regulator arm instead "notice how both arms moved in sequence". On most mechanical watches the arm that regulates the time will have those 2 dots on it and you will only see one part move. It's good though to fool around and learn from a Chinese watch like this so you will know for next time. Good luck with the timing
Thanks Matt! Other comments said the same...so, that's kind of embarrassing! The question is, whether to order another one and have another go at it...still on the fence about whether or not to.
Its cheap but there is NO service or parts . Their one year warranty is a total scam! I tried to get a pusher for one of mine and was told they don't have parts, period. Buyer beware.
That is what I think too Lee San. He really messed this watch up. I know it’s an inexpensive watch, but it made me cringe to see him hamfist this timepiece. Eeew.
@1bigjohn11 you are correct. Sadly the automatic rotor on this TJ movement is hopeless at winding. At least it can be manually wound without having to unscrew the crown as it does not have a true divers screw down crown.
I really just wanted to see what a 20 USD mechanical watch was like. Also, like I said, I wanted to see how the dial was, as that seems to be the thing people praise when they are doing reviews, as if producing a clean dial is some tremendous accomplishment.

Thanks...here's the question, should I buy another one and try to do it right?
No, the watch is still OK, just buy an ACE Timegrapher and a case back/crystal presser.
Don't buy a time-grapher. Just get an app such as "Clock Tuner" on your tablet or phone. Use with your earbuds mic. Costs just a few dollars.
Clueless.
You should consider sending it off for a laser weld on that case bottom.
Lol, I'll let the Rolex Service Center have a go at it first. ;)
with this brand you can experiment with maintenance or toss it. Definitely not a watch you pay to service
