Thanks for the video. It helped me to set up the device on my car using my phone.
You’re welcome. Happy the video helped you out. Thanks for the comment.
Good review bud thanks 🙏
Thanks. Appreciate the feedback. Please subscribe!
Just got one a week ago .. I have a different model in my other truck .. When I bought it offline , I wanted the KM18 plus .. well they sent the KM18 , the reason I wanted the plus .. It comes with a button to turn the power off , so you dont have to pull it out , so it wont drain the battery ... about the same price .. Im going to buy the plus after I see how well this works for a week or two .. Micro SD card works great , I have about 10.000 mp3 on it ..
Thanks for the comment. I didn’t even know there was a plus. But that would definitely be convenient for preventing the battery from going dead. I haven’t used mp3s for years but that would be super convenient to have all at your hands. Reminds me of when I had them on CDs way back when.
thank you.
Works ok for now. I prefer to leave the factory stereo alone if everything works. So this will give me hands free calling and Amazon Music & so on.
Nice. I never used it for calling. Just for music. Convenient for older vehicles. But with the GR86 I don’t really need it anymore.
Great video, and very well said. Thank you!! Only question I have is, can you connect more then one device to this? Not at the same time of course, but if I wanted to switch from my iPhone to my iPod, am I able to do that? All while on the same station. (Hopefully I explain that correctly.) I’ve always used cassette tape adapter’s, this will be my first time exploring with an KM-18 device.
Thanks for the feedback. I am happy the video helped. Yes, you can use different or multiple devices as long as they are Bluetooth compatible or connect in. Only thing I’ve noticed that can be annoying is that it will automatically pair to whichever device it identifies first. So, if you have two people with iPhones that have previously paired it may pair to the one you do not want to use. In that case, you have to go into your device an disconnect/unpair the device before it can pair with the other. Sometimes you will then have to manually select to connect in the new device as well. It’s a little annoying but definitely worthwhile as compared to having no way to connect wirelessly. As for the frequency/station, as long as it matches between the nulaxy and your radio, you will never have to change that. Hope that answers your question.
@@AndrewRockRUclips Yes! This answered my question! Thank you again, I appreciate you!!
Thanks for the review. I have the same model. A question: Do you know how I can play a mp3 file on SD card from where I left from last play (instead of starting from the beginning of the same mp3 file again)? Thanks!
Sorry can’t really help you out. I’ve never used it for the SD card format. I don’t think there would be a way to keep track of it though because anytime your turn off the engine the radio will cut off power and lose track of where it was playing off the SD card. Probably similar to when we used to play MP3 files off CDs.
@@AndrewRockRUclips Hi thank you for your reply and info. By the way my CD player with my car's radio set does exactly what I was looking at here: It resumes from where it as left in a track... Thanks again and cheers
I just got the KM18 and it works perfectly my radio now sounds as good as my Boise in my new car and this truck is 23 years old. The only problem is that the cigeratte lighter stays on when I turn the truck off. Is there an on and off switch?
Happy you were able to get it to work. It’s really nice for using in an older car. To be honest, I am not entirely sure what the best solution would be. I’ve never checked to see if it draws power when I have the car off. But I’ve never had issues with the battery going dead. What model truck is it? Does it do the same thing for all electronics plugged into the power adapter? Or is it specific to the KM18? If it’s not specific, I don’t think you would have an easy solution. Only other idea would be to get a separate power source (external battery) that you could plug into so that you never draw down your car battery. I believe that would work cause it’s really just transmitting the radio frequency and does not uniquely need to be plugged into the built in cigarette lighter. Hope that somehow helps.
Thank you for this! I used the 3.5 mm cable and still A LOT of static. I tried switching channels too. Any fix for this? Can I link my iphone 15 directly to the transmitter or cars AUX?
I always used Bluetooth to connect the phone to the radio. You can try different channels to see if one is less static compared to others. What type of car is it?
Thank you for this video, you helped me with my device. I do have one question, do you know if it’s supposed to stay on when the car is off? I don’t want to unplug it every time I stop driving. Thank you!
I’m pretty sure it should turn off on its own. I would just make sure with your specific car it does and doesn’t drain the battery. Should be similar to any outlet adapter for other devices.
@@AndrewRockRUclips thanx for the quick response. That’s helpful because I wasn’t sure it was supposed to.
So can you play music through the car stereo using a USB thumb drive?
I do not have it anymore. But I think that the USB was just so you could still use the outlet to charge. I’d have to look into it to see if it inputted as a usb stick.
how do you know which station to put it on in order play music from your phone? like i want to play music from my apple playlist but idk which station that is on this km18
So, the KM18 actually transmits the radio signal and then you set your built in car radio to that station. What you will need to do is first Bluetooth sync your phone to the KM18. Then, it automatically plays through that which is in turn picked up by your built in car radio for speaker output. For the frequency, you will need to choose one that is not already occupied in your location. A lot of times you can look online and see what options are available.
Does that make sense?
@@AndrewRockRUclips yes it does! i got it to work, thank you so much!
Great video. Do you ever hear static like you do with standard FM radio? Or is it clear like using a CD or Aux cord? Does your Jeep have a large 2-3 foot antenna at the bottom of the windshield, or a smaller antenna on top?
Thanks for the comment. No, I have not noticed any major issues with static as I have it set to a frequency that’s not already occupied locally. If you switch it to a different frequency already used you will get interference. Our Jeep just has a standard antenna in the front. Let me know if you have any other questions.
If i get a voice phone call, can i get the sound aswell on the car speakers?
Yes. Acts like a Bluetooth transmitter.
The car redio have to be bluetooth also
No. I believe you just need the power outlet. Otherwise it just transmits to the frequency.
is it compartable incars like seat altea xl 2007
If you have a power adapter it should power the transmitter which will in turn broadcast the FM station that you pick up on the radio. Just need to figure out which FM stations are available in your local area. For $20-30 it’s definitely worth the try.
My car doesn't have bluetooth, is that a problem? How can I use the transmitter now?
It should be fine. The tramistter plugs in and flu play the audio through your radio.
So like can you listen through the microphone through a aux port?
This is in place of the AUX port if you do not have it. Will transmit to use the radio.
@@AndrewRockRUclips yes I know It will transmit through the radio but I was just thinking a wired aux cord from the microphone to the aux port in your car if it comes with one may be more clear than a wireless mode through your fm radio.
@@llg7456 Personally, I have mainly used it to play music. Occasionally, very rarely, Ill take a call using my phones microphone with audio output to the car. Beyond that can't really describe it too much more. Works very well for the price and last time I checked its one of the cheapest on the market for its functionality. Would definitely recommend for any car without an easy way to connect your phone.
Does it ever cut out or is the connection similar to a car with bluetooth
It runs all the time so works pretty well once the phone is synced
Can I plug in my phone via USB cord and play music that way?
I think so. But I am not entirely sure. It’s a cheap device. So worthwhile if you want to use it for Bluetooth and if it works directly connecting then that’s a plus. It does charge the phone trough the usb. Just not sure if it’s input as well.
it plays through the car speakers?
Yes. Right through the radio through the assigned radio frequency
how to turn calls on and off, redial?
I never really used it for calls. But I think the central button presses down to control call features.
Does it have a mic?
I looked into it because I wasn’t sure. The actual device does not but it is Bluetooth connected so you can easily use your phone with it. Let me know if you have other questions.
How do I make outgoing calls with it ???
To be honest, I have not really used it for Bluetooth calls for my phone. But, I think you need to click the front button on the dial and then you should be able to voice activate it to make the call….try that out and let me know if it works. Otherwise, I will need to mess around and see when I get a chance.
You sound nervous my guy breath💯
No he doesn’t 💀
Damn 2015 doesn't have aux
Nope. Surprisingly.
You'd be surprised how many newer age cars hadn't added it. My old 2011 ford escape has bluetooth but my friends 2016 jeep doesn't
@@bartholomew1096 Thats crazy. Jeep is kind of known for limiting features to charge extra for everything. AC and power windows don’t come standard for their base models
?
What is your question?
