Prior to buying our 2021 Lance 1172, we ordered a new Northern Lite 10-2 LE Dry Bath. The dealer told us we had a 4 month wait. Then 5. Then 7. So, we cancelled the order and found our new 1172. While we really enjoy our 1172, there are times we wished we had waited on the NL. There are benefits to both, but the idea of no slides and easy access while on the road is definitely a plus. We’re happy for y’all and hope you really enjoy the new camper!
Yes, I like the no slide as well. We looked at an 1172 but thought the booth area was too high a step for me with my short legs, and the NL seemed to dark to us. We've ordered next year's model Arctic Fox 1140 dry bath which has a slide but can be comfortably used with the slide in and you have full access when traveling. It's also comes standard with 400 watts solar, upgradeable to 600 watts, a 12V fridge and it has LOTS of storage, both inside and out with large holding tanks--perfect for boon docking. We hope to go full time and definitely want the extra storage and tank space. The NL's and Lance's are great, but you have to find the one that works for you, and may have to wait for the right one.
I had to wait 8 months. 8 months now. During my wait the dealer in NC, matched the price, coming down 10 thousand. Those are great colors, grey is the thing now a days. We ordered a Navy blue, we didn't want the typical stipe everyone was getting. Great video guys.
Besides all the cool features and quality build of the Northern Lites, it’s the only camper I’ve seen with a great “patio” and solid steps with a grab bar making getting in and out easier and safer for those of us who are getting older and or have some mobility issues. I wish they weren’t so expensive but you get what you pay for!
I had to sell my 21 8'11" needed more room went to travel trailer. I do miss the 8'11" though. Northern lite is on another level on how they are built. Top notch . Your 10'2" is beautifull!.
🤣 Always changing it up. All your experience with truck campers it would be cool if you talked about pros and cons and what would make your ideal camper if you could design your own. Thanks for all your videos.
Would like to hear that generator running outside and inside of the camper to hear how quiet it is. Also what all could you run with the generator as far as at the same time. Maybe you could fit it into a video sometime. Thanks for the walk around.
a '21 1172 is 4800lbs wet. I would absolutely never ever haul it with any gasser! Its pretty clear that's why the had to dump it. They said it was too slow going up hills...
One of my favorite truck campers. My only wish is NL would extend the dining area window the entire length, like Lance does on theirs. I think maybe they can't because of where the shells come together.
I agree, I looked at the same model NL and I thought it was way too dark inside, a larger booth window would've helped greatly; and it's not centered, which I thought was odd. There's just not much use of windows in NL's, but they are nice campers.
I thought your next camper would be a Host! I like your new Northern Lite. We just traded in our Host Everest ( 3 slides ), for a ‘23 Lance 960. On our newer ‘21 GMC Sierra 3500 DRW gasser it’s a perfect combo for my wife and I. Enjoy folks!
We love that generator on our wolf creek. If i had a dually that northern lite 10-2, is a beautiful camper. Love the non slude truck campers. Excellent setup with the dually 7.3 gas. Safe travels. Happy Summer camping
We just purchased our very first Northern Lite 10.2 LE Wet bath ( we wanted the pull out pantry!) We have been researching campers for a long time and knew right away the NL would be it. After walking through one this spring, we put a down payment on it right away. Turns out we bought at the right time and the 2023 became a 2024 with upgraded 600 w of solar. We also lucked out and (after being fourth in a waiting list) got our dream 2024 GMC Sierra HD 1 ton Dually with the Duramax diesel. **think this was meant to be** Absolutely excited to take it out this summer in BC, Canada and then across the country to PEI this fall. Been following you for a little bit, and super excited to see you back in the Northern Lite. Love your videos!!
Congrats on your new NL and GMC! That will be an awesome setup to get out and make some new memories in. Thanks for sharing your story. Safe travels and thanks for watching!
We just bought ours a few months ago (8-11Q SE). I have it on a 2011 F350 Super Duty SB. I am planning on my first trip next week. I did a ton of research and everything led me back to Northern Lite- Best Wishes From Montana !
Great video guys, I meant to tell you this. I've been showing my friends your video and most of them say, "you sold this?" Of course most know my health and my problems. I'm glad your enjoying it. I did finally remove all my video's on the NL. We might look at a 975 but the solar is not the same like the NL. You didn't mention the solar Todd, did you? Great looking rig, lol! Stay safe, Bill
Plastic vent cover from stove to outside will flap and flap driving you crazy in windy conditions. I ended up using gorilla tape to forever seal it. Also, During the summertime you’ll have to take a 8 x 10“ thin cardboard to push into the upper air conditioning vent to direct cool air into your overhead sleeper. The makeshift paper diverter I talk about is pushed in between the Frame of the air conditioner and the lining of the ceiling.
Oh my gosh! Now you have my nearly exact setup! 2022 F350 DRW 7.3L and a 10-2 dry bath but my NL is a 2021. Nice. Hopefully we will see you out there one day camping. ❤ Congrats! Let me know when you change out your AC, I’ll help you if you help me. :)
I was thinking the same thing!!! I was glad when they got the 7.3. Same as my 2021 and now they have the same Northern Lite! Mines a 2022! Upper stableloads are ticket for me! Thanks Todd!
Creature comfort. When you Can’t carry a conversation it becomes a nuisance. Although last year it did drown out 4of July booming. So that was a positive.
Love your channel and the information you provide. Plus I especially like Carla’s equal involvement. I’d love a follow up on the weight for the new Ford gas (7.3?) 4WD DRW with the Northern Lite 10-2. These are critical pieces of information for anyone contemplating these truck and camper setups. Also what fuel mileage you’re getting with the gas engine with the camper loaded. I have an F350 4WD Diesel with the NL 8-11EXSE and am working on a diet because the truck and camper so frequently over the 11.5 GVWR. If you see water, an Onan Geni and a Dometic A/C dumped on the side of the road - probably from me trying to make weight. Thanks for all you do for us.
I have watched all of your videos. Would be awesome to see more videos from the 2 of you. Congrats! On your Northern Lite camper purchase. I just purchased a 2023 10-2 EX LE DB. I currently own a 2017 Travel Lite Illusion 960rx (for sale). I considered buying the Northern Lite used, but the warranty was not transferable. I look forward to your next video. Happy Camping!
Thanks for the video you guys - just subscribed! We're on a 3 year plan of saving for a Northern Lite and a 1 ton - 3 years b/c our youngest will be headed off to college then and we'll have time to do some travelling. From everything I've seen, Northern seems to be the cream of the crop for 4 season truck campers. Enjoying the content and learning a lot!
Wow. It looks like in the space of less than a year you’ve swapped out 2 campers and 1 truck. My bet there’ll be another change before the years out! Should have kept the Cummins Ram IMO! Enjoying the channel.
As others have wondered, what the the total weight of this same truck with the NL vs the camper you initially set up with this new truck. It will be a very fair comparison as long as you put the similar items into this camper as you did in that one for the weigh in. I don't believe you did a weigh in by the axle as that would have proved interesting as per the fore/aft balance of each camper model.
Are you still enjoying this Northern Lite camper? Have you done any modifications? Would like a more thorough tour, how big are the closets near the door? I am wondering also is there an inverter on this camper, is there room for this kind of thing. Can you sit at the table comfortably for extended time if you had to work there for example? Do you know how cold it can be used in, it is listed as 4-seasons but that means a wide range. Thanks.
Hi David, we were thinking about it but it’s gotten a little expensive and we probably wouldn’t be able to stay the whole time because of traveling for my job. Still considering it though. ~Carla
We bought our 2019 8-11 SE new and we LOVE it!! I’m curious what is your stated weight on the spec sheet NL puts on the wardrobe wall? If we ever upgrade we’re going to the long bed Ford truck and 10-2 NL
This is the first time I have watched one of your videos. I have a small Sun Lite. I have a Ford 150 truck. Do I need a bigger truck? The place I bought the camper from said no, but my tires always look low even though the air pressure says 35. I like the swingout stabilizers on your camper
You mentioned that your swing out jacks had an additional spacer. Did it come from Northern Lite like that? My 1ton Dodge Dually barely fits. Rubs pretty bad.
Hello, Love your videos. You guys switch rv's more than anyone on youtube!. Question.. Had a truck camper, Miss it. Converted a new van but want to go back. Love Love Love the Bigfoot 10-4. As owners of one and a NL 10-2. why or do you, feel the NL is better. Thanks in advance.
I think i would prefer the shorter lower version. Less weight and better gas milage, lower clearance, better maneuverability and easier to fit in parking space. Yeah no generator and dry bath option but i think you can increase the solar and be fine and live with wet bath.
I’m trying to decide between a NL DB or a Bigfoot 10.4 with the rear dinette. I like all the windows in the back of the Bigfoot, but the bedroom area and skylight of the NL seems better. Having owned both, which do you guys prefer?
We love both campers but for us we prefer the NL because it has a longer 80” bed. We don’t use the skylight and would prefer to have a more usable fan over the bed. But the larger need is the biggest factor for us. Thanks for watching!

Todd, I haven't had any problems out of my 2022 Dodge yet but I TRULY think Gas might be the way to go. My cousin who also owns a Dodge like mine said , "drive them hard, drive one like you stole it." After careful research on youtube, I think he's right. The sluit or carbon builds up and clogs the filters and messes with the sensors I am told if you don't drive them hard. He went on to say it's not good to baby one of these trucks. So PERHAPS gas is better. I'm can't afford to trade trucks so we're sticking with the diesel for now. GREAT camper by the way, nicest camper around. lol

It's beautiful! I look forward to you announcing a new truck in the near future...followed by a new Lance truck camper!
Good for you to go out and get the truck you wanted best. Great video, you guys see like such a nice couple, thanks for sharing
Best truck camper going IMHO! Compare loaded weights in future videos with the 1172….please?

Wry nice guys! We are actually shopping truck campers for our next rig!
Awesome, good luck on your truck camper shopping! Thanks for watching!
LOL 34 sec into the video and I am LMAO. You change campers like most change underwear! Watching the rest of this video! Congrats again!
Very nice! I would want the big window over the bed though. Makes me not feel closed in. Happy travels!
I hear that window,Let's in a lot of heat or cold.
Congratulations on the new camper! It looks amazing. I bet Taylor is loving it.
Thanks, She does love it and she’s always ready to go camping. Thanks for watching!

Why change it, why fix something that isn't broken? Loud but not broken.
Creature comfort. When you Can’t carry a conversation it becomes a nuisance. Although last year it did drown out 4of July booming. So that was a positive.
Nice. I think the smaller 8 ft version is still too heavy for my Chevy 2500HD with 3508# of cargo capacity, but still real cool anyway.

I like it a lot. Thanks for sharing. It must be so much lighter than the Lance 1162.
Todd, Carla, nice choice! Wow.
Looks like a nice camper but maybe a little claustrophobic because of small windows. How does the weight compare to your Lance?
Great video guys! Nice camper, people must have been desperate to sell a nice rig like that.
My dream truck camper

really nice, thanks for sharing.

Love the new rig! Are y’all going to the D&H truck camper rally in November?
Hi David, we were thinking about it but it’s gotten a little expensive and we probably wouldn’t be able to stay the whole time because of traveling for my job. Still considering it though. ~Carla
Wished you had opened cabinets to show how much space and depth in them.
A new camper? Shocker! ; - )
Man, that thing is nice.
I'd like to see you try an Arctic Fox camper
Beautiful camper, enjoy!
Hi there. Am thinking we must live near you guys. We camp at lots of the same places you do! Hello from western Carolina!!!! Kim
Kim we live in Woodstock, GA so maybe?
Are you going to keep this one for a year or two?....Lol, Very nice camper. That's the one I wait someday.
Good luck with the new camper
Nice camper...
We bought our 2019 8-11 SE new and we LOVE it!! I’m curious what is your stated weight on the spec sheet NL puts on the wardrobe wall? If we ever upgrade we’re going to the long bed Ford truck and 10-2 NL
The spec sheet says 3520 lbs but that didn’t include batteries or propane. The dealers add that when they get them in. Thanks for watching!
Solid sides! Less to go wrong! Congratulations guy's
Totally agree. We just traded in our Host Everest for a Lance 960. Love the camper and don’t really miss the floor space of the Host.
That is awesome!!!
That’s nice but is there a specific reason you guys didn’t go for a Kingstar?
Once I saw that I was hooked you can get a dinette or recliners or sofa
This is the first time I have watched one of your videos. I have a small Sun Lite. I have a Ford 150 truck. Do I need a bigger truck? The place I bought the camper from said no, but my tires always look low even though the air pressure says 35. I like the swingout stabilizers on your camper
I have to ask, why did you choose to go with a northern lite over a new big foot ?
Beautiful
You mentioned that your swing out jacks had an additional spacer. Did it come from Northern Lite like that? My 1ton Dodge Dually barely fits. Rubs pretty bad.
They are 2” aftermarket spacers for Happijac’s.
Im very interested in truck camping and the idea of no roof seems. Question for you…..Bigfoot or Northern Lite?
Hello, Love your videos. You guys switch rv's more than anyone on youtube!. Question.. Had a truck camper, Miss it. Converted a new van but want to go back. Love Love Love the Bigfoot 10-4. As owners of one and a NL 10-2. why or do you, feel the NL is better. Thanks in advance.
Both Bigfoot and NL are great campers. The NL just works better for our wants and needs. Thanks for watching!
Good luck!
@@RunawayRoses thanks for your response.
I would love to see a truck camper with some color to it. They are so bland these days. Nucamp began doing this and I was hoping others would catch on but I guess not.
Does the toilet spin? & if not does that divider between shower & loo get in way when doing your business?
Looks like it might not be a prime pooping position like the Bigfoot dry bath.
The NL bathroom works ok but the Bigfoot bathroom is way better in our opinion.
@@RunawayRoses Pity the Bigfoot doest have longer 80" bed & is the head room in Northern light above bed higher than the Bigfoot?
The Bigfoot 10-4 has nice floor plan with dinette near door & the Bigfoots have more bench top space especially in the 10-6.
What puzzles me is what type of careers do you both of you have to be able to buy such wonderful toys?
I was thinking that same question!🤔
👍👍
Awesome you guys, 2 questions how much lighter is it than your lance, did you have to make your hitch extension longer?
whats your bumper-to-bumper length with that camper? Please and Thank you
I think it’s right at 27 foot. Thanks for watching!
@@RunawayRoses thanks appreciate it.
Thanks, do they just bolt on?
Yes they do.
superior to the lance..great choice, this or kingstar will be our next.. so back to the northern lite you go. Bill and Nancy that help out D&H? good folks
I thought the Lance 2272 had more space, and why go back to less room inside... I wondered how you could go back. and how is the NL camper superior and you answer me that... thanks love the videos and people... !
Wish it had recliners
Congratulations on your new NL! We loved ours.
So many people I know have gravitated to NL after having other brands. There is a reason for that.
Look forward to more in depth videos on it as you get more immersed in it.
Great choice!
Is there a reason you trade campers so frequently?
Will it fit on my Tacoma ?😉
No it’s too big and heavy for a Tacoma.
GREAT camper by the way, nicest camper around. lol
👍
you guys probably get Christmas and birthday cards from the county tax man for all the business you bring in! HA
