  • Holley 295 Vaporizer for a Fordson F - Although I did not apply a sealant during this video, I later did. I applied sealant to the outer edges of the vaporizer plates (the flat outer surfaces where they come together) all the way around.

I visited The Henry Ford Museum recently and I was checking out all the antique farm equipment on display. The creators of this machinery were genius! I love the way old hardware was designed and used. Simple, basic, and cleverly executed. Keep your videos coming.

Hello Mr Antique cars and Stuff
I have an old Fordson like your 's not sure on the year or exact model yet even thou i have owned the tractor for more then 11 years now you would think i would by now lol .So any way i am really enjoying your series and am getting more excited about digging into mine before it rusts away out in my field. i have been just too busy living to get to work on it like the plan was when i first bought it . Funny thing is that the street in Alexandria Virginia wher i bought it was called Fordson rd for real! so anyway thanks again and maybe we will talk more soon.

Hi Dennis, mine was also rusting away in a field. Glad I rescued it. I can try to help identify yours (if you need the help). Just send me a few pictures and the serial number (right side of engine towards the front above the manifold). Hopefully, you can get started on it in the near future! antiquecarsandstuff@gmail.com

I think if you had heated the second screw holding the bowl to bright red heat and let it cool, you would have been able to remove it without drilling. It may have needed a couple of heatings but usually one is sufficient.

After sealing the cover plate with the orange sealant, and getting the maniflod to pull fuel correctly, have you had any issues running the tractor on gasoline? I read where the plates will carbon up or burn out with prolonged use of gasoline versus running on kerosene.

I have not had any issues running on gasoline. It has been running well. The orange Permatex seems to be working fine. However, I will be making a video in the near future where I remove the plates, inspect them, and then reassemble with the copper-based high heat Permatex. I think that will be best in the long run, and more appropriate for applications like this that come in contact with fuel or fuel vapor.
A Fordson expert told me running gasoline would be just fine. The plates are fairly thick. If gas does have a negative effect on the plates, I think it would take a very long time (years) for any noticeable damage to occur. In my limited experience, I have had no issues at all running on gas. It will be interesting when I inspect the plates.

@@AntiqueCarsandStuff Thank you for the detailed info. I have a 1926 that I'm starting to work on and have found your vidoes most informative. If you have time, could you provide part numbers on your vidoes for things such as the manifold gasket set; metal rings and fiber washers, etc. I have a catalog from Fordson House, but I'm having trouble identifying the exact part numbers from their catalog. I too have the Holley 295 manifold. Thank you.

Doug Lingenfelter I agree the catalog and website are sometimes hard to figure out which parts are which. I believe the manifold rings and gaskets are S-657. I would often have to just ask them on the phone. In the future I will try to include part numbers in my videos.
