I think your analysis is always on point, and having built the 6 problems obstacles really makes it a good comparison playground and makes your reviews trustworthy. Keep it up and have a good 2023!
Brands such as RGT have really come a long way in the last few years. This model is full of interesting features and looks like a solid truck that has a well designed and built chassis. I'm sure in many cases, products like these are equal to those of the well known brands, especially considering the price.
No kidding. Even treating my purchasing like a small media business with a moderately decent budget here, I've found I need to be judicious in my selections as there's nowhere near enough coin to get everything I'd like to try! But still, what a great problem to have, eh? :)
beautiful truck, absolute ton of features edit: I didn't realize this was the company that makes the Rescuer, TomleyRC did a review of it that turned me onto the brand
Ah nice. I've done a bit with the Rescuer already (playlist below) and have an RGT Rescuer Upgrades video coming in April too. Great trucks! RGT EX86190: ruclips.net/p/PLP6qQhzesLdoSVFW34J4RqiYDwJOZIIO-
Oh that's good to know! I nearly broke this into 2 videos, with the overview first and then test crawl next, but decided to make it a one stop info drop instead :) hope you enjoy it!
Lovely detailed review as always. You covered several things other reviews I've seen left out. This truck is so packed full of features, it's kind of amazing.
Isn't it just! Definitely an interesting machine and one that'll bring many hours of fun for many a driver, no question. It's not bad on the rocks, either, 3 of 6 means it's still capable. And that weight will make it a mean recovery machine!
My capra's dig works that way too. I can't fully trust it to disengage all the time. I took it apart from the first install and did a quick file job rounding the edges, helping with locking in. May take it apart and do a more thorough job. You could try it and see if it helps.
Thanks. Haven't checked the mechanism on this yet, but I will. Certainly the OG TRX4 locker engages and disengages smoothly. I think you're on a winner with smoothing the surfaces for 'sticky' DIGs, that's good thinking. Thanks!
I'm really glad you got one of these. I just got mine in the other day and following the necessary maintenance like greasing all gears, different wheels and tires plus a Hobbywing Fusion Pro we are loving it!
It's a total fun machine, to be sure! I love that they went with a 35T 550, it's just such a perfect brushed option for this rig. The wheels and tires are surprisingly decent, too. Just a great all round package. Did you find your transmission and diffs a bit dry on grease? I haven't checked mine yet, would be interested to know!
@@RCTNT portals and transmission gears had barely even a film of grease. The diffs were adequate. I live in a rainy area so I always pack the diffs and portals full of SuperLube. The trans I just added a coating as usual. I was impressed with the complication of the trans. It was also very well sealed. Nice unit! Everyone said the tires were good but I didn't even try them. Weighted beadlocks with Hyraxes for mine. Gotta get some tougher climbing time this weekend.
@@RCTNTyou mentioned you received a 3s Lipo? The one I received came with a hard case Sunpadow 2s 6200mah Lipo. Curious if it is different for the region it is being shipped to. As for the supplied Lipo I was very impressed with the quality since I am used to receiving NiMH batteries from RGT. Regardless that Hobbywing Fusion Pro on 2s rips! If you haven't tried one yet definitely do. I have been swapping them into all my crawlers. I respect the 35T 550 it came with and have other plans for that already.
Hm it could just be the seller decided to include it, I really don't know. When I got the RGT Rescuer EX86190 on preorder, it came with a 6800mah 2S 25C hard pack, which has been great too. But this 3S pack was a new one, I'm happy with it so far. I've been using HW Fusion combos since they first released. I have several of the original 1200kv/40A ones, then the 2300kv/60A Pro units are sweet as well, and now they've rebranded the originals as SE and I've grabbed the 1200kv/40A and 1800kv/40A ones too. I love the AXE systems, both the old and the newer R2 combos (my 1200kv 540 AXE system powers my BC8 8x8, with a combined mass when hauling of nearly 50kg, and it still takes off up hill in 2nd gear, it's so crazy!). All that to say, the Fusion Pro may just be the pick of the bunch in most cases! Glad you're enjoying them :)
Howsit going man, im confident, if you remove the rear sway bar, reduce the weight at the back and put stronger springs and weighted steel rims, it will do all 6 challenges. I just did it and uploaded to my channel, next step fusion pro 2300kv( love that motor)
This is what the FTX Outback Texan could have been. The major issue for us in the UK, is getting it to the UK, and import duties!! AliExpress has it at £340, with free shipping, but who knows what the import duties would add on top!! I'm not a massive fan of the Power Wagon body, either. It does show what can be done with a RTR crawler, but, if I had one, how many of the features would I actually end up using?! A very thorough and thoughtful review though. 👍🏻
Thanks Rob. Fees can ruin your day can't they. It's a bit of a mess the UK has with this stuff, and it's a shame it's like this. Thanks for your thoughts, it is a lovely vehicle, at any rate.
Great review, with the 6 problems keeping the testing consistent is a great approach. I do think this truck has alog of potential, would be great if you would develop it a bit and see if some of its shortcomings can be ironed out. Like someone said, filing the dig engagement gear, but also some different wheels and tires (maybe add some width for sidehill stability), use a smal 1500mAh Lipo instead of that big stock battery and remove the spare tire are some ideas that come to mind. Keep up the good work, really enjoy your vidoes!
Thanks. I'll come back to this one in future. For what it's worth, I did these tests with the same small 700mah 3s battery I use for all my rigs on the videos. The spare wheel doesn't add a lot of weight either. But you're absolutely right, and width in particular may well be a boon in this case. I wouldn't mind trying to make the rig a bit lighter, too. I'll think on it!
@RC-TNT to make ot lighter perhaps delete the winch, a All in one Fusion brushless system and then maybe delete the 2 speed... can't think of much more save for a custom carbon chassis
I could remove the spare wheel, too. Really, none of this really adds up to much. The big weight is in the axles, they really went to town making them heavy. The body is heavy too.
I see a way on probem 3 where it would climb it every time. If u would come from the left side and let both front and rear tires hit that small grey rock at the same time it wouldnt kick the front of the truck over
@RinkaiKouen it won't be crazy fast and I really recommend against bashing with it. Indeed the top speed may be similar to the brushed version. Depends on gearing. Low speed control and battery consumption will both be improved though.
@@RCTNT You know, I got the MJX 1/8 and it's an extra fun point to be able to run it at 30km/h on the beach. But I'd like to replace it with something a bit less massive.
Fair enough. The motor in that thing is a monster, to be sure. Crawls alright though, aside from the oversoft foams. If you wanted to slow it down a bit, a pinion gear with one or two less teeth would do the job nicely. The RGT Challenger here won't be as durable in higher speed shenanigans. I'd expect it'll go alright but it won't take as much abuse, going by the brushed version. Still plenty durable, but adding speed compounds the stress on the body, chassis and running gear. Just something to keep in mind anyway.
I've gotta test it in stock form first, so we can see how it performs. I did do a follow up video with some fixes and upgrades, though I left the spare wheel on as it won't change the overall performance much, IMO. The rig is just so heavy, this won't have the same impact as a heavy spare might on an scx10 or similar!
Nice looking truck but it appears to be more trail truck than crawler. Not sure why they would mount the winch on the back. Think it would be much more useful in the front.
It's going to make some drivers very happy indeed, as a trail truck! The winch on the back is super fun for recovering other vehicles, if you haven't tried it! Cheers
It's a great looking truck at least. I should have known the struggles on problem 1 foreshadowed the rest. I admit I'm a bit curious if even a set of Canyon Trails would do better with their good traction and slightly shorter height. I suppose I am not their target though being more crawler focused than trail :) . Great review and I look forward to that pile of vehicles in the coming weeks and months! 🙌
It still did alright, didn't it. 3 of 6 problems means that it's still reasonably capable. And in larger terrain, without the peaky and steep bits to get it tipped or hung up, I expect this would be perfect. Definitely fun!
The six problem performance was quite underwhelming! Not a fan of the "power wagon" style, but this one isn't the worst looking one (looking at you, ECTO!), but you'd think with that aesthetic and features, it'd be more competent out of the box. I did get a feeling like a stronger rear spring could benefit make the front a bit more stable, maybe?
Yeah it isn't bad. A firmer rear would help support it in the steeper climbs but it's about right for most stuff, at least with the 700mah 3s battery I ran in this test. I would like to stand those rear shocks up a bit though!
@@RCTNT I understand what you mean, but I wonder if we're effectively saying a similar approach? Or the "digressive spring rate" from running them less vertical is more noticeable than increasing the rate to avoid the compression in the first place?
I saw this on the other channel and the ONLY thing it doesn't have is locking/unlocking diffs. It really does have just about anything you want. It's not cheap at almost $600 CDN. I would say that what would make this the cat's a$$ is if you could mod the radio to change the button assignments. Yes, RGT is upping their game, but you're paying for the improvements. Not complaining if the quality is there...but referring back to the pioneer: I should have snagged one when they were $275 CDN now they too are over $500 cdn plus $shipping
Hey bro, Love the review as its to the point and correct in your explanations and lots can be learned from listening to you and actually start to learn the correct metaphor and meanings of CVD and Lay down shocks as theres two teachings right there now i can take away from the video and also that people on RUclips only mainly review the higher end stuff not all but a fair few and RGT is sorta in the middle and more affordable to most of us whom are having the day to day life bills, family, mortgage etc so saving a few hundred is always great so in depth technical honest reviews are awesome so for this thank you also i am a fan of the HSP brand as i have 5 from 4S 1/8 to the other 3 1/10 sct, buggy and the on-road car and find them great for that letting of steam mad bash session and out the front high speed run -as the buggy gets to 53MPH , i think its now time for me to explore into the RGT platform and try a few starting with the Challenger and definitely the Rescuer as that Toyota Styling is Just real Australian imho -True Blue Japanese LOL thanks for this Video was very Impressed and Subbed and liked 100% 🙂
True blue Japanese, haha, I love it Thanks for taking the time to share Glad you're enjoying your rigs and I'm sure you'll get a lot out of the Challenger and/or the Rescuer, they're both epic in stock form - and there's options to improve both. More videos on each this year :)
It's a good looking rig with a lot of features. I wonder how it would perform without the spare tire and with a smaller battery moved up front. For many people who are not hard core crawlers it might be an excellent machine. Thanks for sharing and testing.
I ran the 6 problems with a 700mah 3s battery rather than the included 4000mah brick they supplied. I did mention that but seem to have cut it in editing, sorry. Meant to keep that detail in! I think you'll find similar performance in any case. That spare wheel doesn't add much weight.
@@RCTNT I do wish RGT had a little bit bigger or a reach in the United States like fms and rochobby. After watching this I was curious enough to consider getting one but shipping costs/times are about 1/4 of the price tag. Not to mention parts support would be expensive.
Ah right, fair enough. Shipping is about a quarter of the price here too, unless you get lucky and someone buys a bunch to sell from their small online store. Then you pay full manufacturer recommended price but shipping is affordable at least! They are cool trucks, eh.
I’m kind of shocked I’ve been looking at these RGT’s & drooling over all the features but it appears even with all of those features it’s still not quite right. As far as crawling that is. The prices are pretty good considering all the features but here in the US RGT’s are not that available here. I like it & they have many models. I just thought it would do better on the rocks. Not sure if I’ll get one if they where more available I’d probably have one by now. Ya here in the 805 area of Ca. We are officially a disaster area lots of rain & some flooding lots of road damage & parks & our local lake got hit pretty hard but it’s nice to see everything green lots of fresh clear water coming into our lake & it’s made for awesome ares to go out & crawl or trial run. Some ares are just huge rock fields & the streams have nice ares to crawl by. I’ve lived in this area all my life & haven’t seen this type of flooding & damage in years. It’s both good & bad. Things are settling down & things are getting little by little back to normal. But ya it’s Super fun out with the Crawlers.
Hm, there's a new kind of normal for weather and that's anything but how it used to be. The intensity dial is getting turned up bit by bit, so there'll be more of this in future. It's a little silver lining for crawling terrain though, yeah! And the RGT here isn't bad - 3 of 6 problems means it's still capable, and those extra little features are definitely fun!
Most of the RGT crawlers in the US, are in a bangood US warehouse in California. Thats where mine came from, in less than a week. I loive in north end of Washington. Lol
@@clean1566 Yes I’ve been on there website many times there’s another one also Bome RC website has them as well but they are based out of China & we all know it’s shut down till Feb for the New Year. There’s a new model & it looks lighter then the one tested here it’s under 400$ so I consider that a pretty good deal but it’s not a RTR you have to provide the electronics & controller. Still everytime I look at the RGT crawlers I’m very impressed with what I see on paper. Definitely going to get one it’s just time.
It’s funny how it comes pretty much with everything I’ve done to my SCX10.2 with the Power Wagon body including the visor over the wind screen. Do the bed sides come off separate from the main body?
Is the motor 3 or 5 slot? If it’s a 3 buy a 5slot it’s a significant difference. Holmes has em cheap on the sport line. Or I’ve tried the injora 550 Can 35t 5 slot and I’m impressed with it. Has bearings feels good like the Holmes do on the budget line. I like this rig a lot thanks for getting one
As you'll find if you look through our catalog of videos, the Holmes Crawlmaster series and the Reedy 5 slots feature prominently in many models. Great motors, love their smoothness. However, you can tell this is a 3 slot by its speed - a 35T 5 slot would be slooooow! Being a 550 and a 35T, this 3 slot is lovely and smooth. It can't match a 5 slot for low end smoothness, but the power it still grants makes up for it. I think this is the best budget brushed motor for this rig, honestly.
Yep, it probably would. But it doesn't have DIG, cool rear winch, this body style and 2-speed transmission. Nice to have the choice either way, isn't it 😉
Ordered one of these today. Could someone please help me with a link to the best possible battery and charger I can put in this thing please? Excited to get into the hobby.
Nice choice :) This is a decent battery: amzn.to/3t37bPH (there's a 10% off coupon on that page too) This is a good basic charger you'll be able to keep and use with multiple batteries as you accumulate them over time in the hobby: amzn.to/46SvhKD Scroll down and you'll find there's a combo buy for this charger and a couple of Zeee batteries too. Your new RC car will take 2S or 3S batteries; either is fine. 3S will be faster but won't last as long. I'd suggest 2S for a rig like this anyway. Run it and enjoy! (Here's a second charger recommendation because it's currently my all-time fave charger: amzn.to/3uZypae )
Does thos model have the grub screw holding the center driveshaft to the axle output or is it a setscrew now going all the way through? i had the ex86100 and center driveshaft popped off to much due to grub screw backing out.
Intriguing features, great review- thank you! The price though appears to be quite close to Axial and Traxxas crawler prices. I don’t know anything about RGT - does anyone know about parts support in the US? Price and parts support/availability would be my concerns. Other than that, looks interesting! 👍✌️
RGT is fast becoming a more premium brand in price and thankfully their quality is improving too. Parts haven't been an issue, historically. You can get the bits for most models on AliExpress at least, plus variously on banggood, Asiatees and eBay/Amazon. What you'll break, if you break anything, will be motors, servos and links - nothing model-specific there. It's snapping axles or diff gears that'll wreck your day. These are usually readily available online, for whatever that's worth.
I've had my RGT 86010 CJ for a couple years. No US that I've found, although I haven't looked hard. I've had no problem getting parts from any number of stores on AliExpress. I've ordered main gears(grandson treated it like a basher), and a couple link rods and drives haft for when I lengthened it to 313. Bot really, crawling, I haven't broken anything mechanical. Just body parts. I've added a Quicrun fusion, and locking portal axles, and am still under what I would've paid for a Traxxas trx4. It doesn't have 2 sp. Tranny, but crawling, it stays with my buddy's trx4 blazer, and looks more scale in the running gear.
Back again haha. Have you found out which channel in the receiver is free and can be used by the button on the remote? I have Led light set with 3 modes of lights. I plugged it into every free channel and pressed the empty channel button on the remote and it never registered on any channel. Any ideas? Thank you yet again :) Great content
Hey hey, yes in fact I have worked it out! Watch this video, it's the first thing I discuss at the start of the video. If yours isn't working, maybe your module isn't responding to radio input. You can test this by connecting your 3-mode light module to the steering servo channel and then turning the wheel each way to see if the lights respond. ruclips.net/video/SdnoDL7Da1Q/видео.html
You've tried it on the steering channel? If so and it still isn't responding, the issue is with the light module and not the radio. Check to be sure it does actually respond to radio input and not just to a switch, getting only power from the radio but not needing a signal. That'd be my first guess.
This may help you out if your module isn't actually radio controlled and only has manual switching: Remote Control Switch Board CH3 light control a.aliexpress.com/_mOyfqKK
This car is The Witcher, cause it rolls around the floor, like a prick 😂🤣 They really overdone rolling sideways as a battle tactic, so most videos with swordfighting were full of rolling. The hero was i believe invincible during roll, but the roll was so effortless and easy, with no limit, that all you saw was rolling on the floor 😅
Hola, crees que con un servo de 40kg de los chinos a 7,4v y un hobbywing 1080 sera suficiente para moverle, o le pongo un bec de 8A aparte a 7,4v ? Gracias
Unfortunately I haven't come across whatever this issue is. You may not find others here with an answer given we're on an RGT video comment section. Perhaps reddit.com/r/rccars can help?
The cars are coming, there's a lot to do this year! Comps as well, and experiments and more. I'm making these as fast as I can, but at a marathon rather than a sprinter pace, so that it can keep going for the long term. Thanks for watching my videos :)

Thanks, I like the model and I've found a way to improve it. Next video soon and it'll be good. But she's a heavy beastie and that doesn't help with extreme terrain. It'll be a good tow truck though!
I've scratch built a couple of trucks - it's not easy! Kit builds are great to bridge that gap, but there's nothing wrong with an RTR. Time is valuable too, after all :)
I didn't mean that intro to take away from the RGT Challenger's video! I've just edited the intro out, as I can see it was not a good decision in hindsight! I'll release things over the coming months as usual. (And not a lottery win, haha, no. Just an investment into building something cool here on RUclips, just like you'd invest into any small venture you want to grow. Thanks for watching along!)
@@RCTNT looks amazing and can't wait to see, rgt doesn't make it very easy to get any models here in Canada and most times the ones that are available are old models. It looks fantastic and I'm surprised the winch was on the back, maybe they intended it to be a mud machine. Thanks for sharing TNT.
@@WoodsUnknown you got it. I was surprised at the rear winch too, but it was a cool discovery and I love the implementation! (RGT is relatively expensive to get here too, but I understand the shipping to Aus is cheaper than to the USA & Canada at least. I got mine from AliExpress as AsiaTees isn't stocking this one quite yet).
@@RCTNT Did you ever see the rgt 86180 pro 4 wheel steer model it is a beast that I think would do your testing easily or an ex 86100 v2 would be awesome too
I've kept myself in the dark about them as much as possible - I like to have a fresh, unbiased perspective on camera when I meet a new car, as much as I can! I look forward to meeting the Gen 9!
@@RCTNT speaking of breakages, I'd be tempted to use the shoe goo and drywall fibre tape on the cab corners.... It does point out the balancing act of weight vs ground clearance. The portals give it plenty of clearance but raise the weight up quite high. You did put it through it's paces compared to TOG.
It looked that way to me when I bought it too, but the battery was included. I guess your mileage may vary, as this seems to be something that isn't consistent with a lot of RGT models. I'd suggest you consider any battery you get as a bonus, to avoid disappointment.
I buy most of my rigs, but have had a small number sent to me so far. I budgeted for this channel from the beginning, expecting to be spending a bit for a while as I grow both the channel and website. That said, I am patient and (usually) wait to buy cars when they're on sale.
It's hard to say without trying. I haven't had that body but like most others, there are a few ways to do it. If that's the car you have and you want that body, I'd say give it a go!
I am wary of RGT products. They look good as most Chinese copy’s do but their quality is lacking. I bought an RGT 1/10 Bronco V2 RTR a year an a half ago. On the second battery the front axle shaft sheared off. I contacted RGT using their only contact info. They wouldn’t warrantee the part. I couldn’t find the correct replacement part unless it was shipped from China. I finally silver soldered the axle myself and kept on running it. Then in a few more batteries the rear diff plastic spool stripped out at the axle because the plastic was too soft. Should of been a harder resin plastic! I am a senior gentleman that has had r/c‘s since the 90’s. I have and still own alot of different r/c brands. I can’t believe the lack of quality and integrity of the RGT name! Spend about the same and get a Traxxas or other reliable & superior r/c vehicle. Maybe you could use that winch to help you unlock your rear diff before the winch breaks! 😂😂
Oof, that's no good! I have a lot of RGT products and so far I've had two breakages. The first was on the Pioneer on the main shaft from gearbox to transfer case, which broke while in the hands of someone I lent it to at a comp. Just a little plastic thing. Second breakage was from the Challenger, just last week, when I had the rear axle puking comp duty on my performance scale rig at ECCF interstate. My DIY link riser tore the composite bracket apart. In normal use though, where I've been using the cars as designed, I haven't had any problems. I'm sorry you have, that would be enough to put me off any brand. Fwiw, RGT is considerably cheaper here in Australia than other brands, partly due to proximity and trade arrangements with China and partly due to USA companies like traxxas and horizon brands simply costing a lot more here than in the US. If I was in the USA I think I'd be sticking with traxxas and horizon brands too.
@@RCTNT Hi I have a TRX4 builders kit. Two speed & lockers are hard to beat. I bought the RGT for my grandson when comes to my house.
There is a new bad boy in town. EX86170 Pro. I hope you have it on your radar.
Sure do!
Your content and reviews are very informative great job 👊
Agreed. I’ll keep coming back for more. Very good job. Well done, sir! Cheers.
Thanks :) glad you enjoy them
As far as ready to runs go, this is pretty neat. Great video
Not a bad all-rounder, eh! Cheers
Howsit going man, im confident, if you remove the rear sway bar, reduce the weight at the back and put stronger springs and weighted steel rims, it will do all 6 challenges. I just did it and uploaded to my channel, next step fusion pro 2300kv( love that motor)
Nice one. I had a go at some upgrades too: ruclips.net/video/SdnoDL7Da1Q/видео.html
Good car isn't it
This is what the FTX Outback Texan could have been.
So keen for the upcoming vids!!
Thanks Harry, me too mate! Got some comp stuff to sort first tho :)
Wanna try, move/ relocate the winch to front, then modify, put tow kit and another winch at the back.
Yeah that'd be cool :)
Thank you for this. Many question and concerns addressed 👍🏻👍🏻
Awesome, glad it was helpful :)
I got this truck and love it. your vids are great keep em coming brother 🤓💫
If u would come from the left side and let both front and rear tires hit that small grey rock at the same time it wouldnt kick the front of the truck over
Tried that. Makes sense but no. I cut a lot of footage from these videos because people click away if I stay on the 6 problems for too long!
Hey, there's a brand new 86170pro out! It has a HW Fusion brushless motor and several upgrades. Looks quite cool.
It's on the way for review 👍
@@RCTNTGood to know! I will wait then. To be honest, I am mostly curious about how fast this thing can go on 3S...
RGT ....Has come as of great surprise..great content of vehicle...but would of liked to have seen you try it without spare tire ...
@@RCTNT That's true! I'm guilty of watching distracted with work today 😇
Truck seems really impressive
I think it'll give many hours of fun to owners. Pretty decent little package, isn't it.
For changing the button assignments, all you need to do is move the connectors in the receiver. =)
What he said, that's it! Easily done :)
@@YoShImUrA53 I thought it was all digitally assigned? it's that easy?
Well, there you go then! haha
True blue Japanese, haha, I love it
Thanks for taking the time to share
Glad you're enjoying your rigs and I'm sure you'll get a lot out of the Challenger and/or the Rescuer, they're both epic in stock form - and there's options to improve both.
From the way it’s set up it seems like it’s a trail rig. Winch in the rear and rear sway bar.
And fun, too!
Great video! What do you think about the RGT 18100 crawler?
Thanks :)
Can't give useful opinions on the 18100, as I've never seen one, sorry!
It looks good RC which has cheap price~
She's a heavy bus but the value is there! Fun, too.
@@RCTNT Thank you for sharing useful info with me~^^
It’s funny how it comes pretty much with everything I’ve done to my SCX10.2 with the Power Wagon body including the visor over the wind screen. Do the bed sides come off separate from the main body?
They are separate, yep. Needs a little disassembly to get to the screws but no cutting is needed to remove the bed sides.
Is the motor 3 or 5 slot? If it’s a 3 buy a 5slot it’s a significant difference. Holmes has em cheap on the sport line. Or I’ve tried the injora 550
Can 35t 5 slot and I’m impressed with it.
I love your reviews
Thanks ☺️
Awesome!!! I think we need more accessories for this one. 😮
Haha it's pretty well appointed out of the box, isn't it. Still, I found a few things to do for it:

@@RCTNT ohh cool. I'll check it out.
@@RCTNT I would like to matte out the shell body and weather it and add rusted parts..make it look like antique and thru battles.

That's a great idea, I think you should go for it!
@@RCTNT yup! Thanks
A TRX4 Sport "eat this up out of the box"!°
Yep, it probably would. But it doesn't have DIG, cool rear winch, this body style and 2-speed transmission. Nice to have the choice either way, isn't it 😉
Ordered one of these today. Could someone please help me with a link to the best possible battery and charger I can put in this thing please? Excited to get into the hobby.
Nice choice :)
This is a decent battery: amzn.to/3t37bPH (there's a 10% off coupon on that page too)
This is a good basic charger you'll be able to keep and use with multiple batteries as you accumulate them over time in the hobby: amzn.to/46SvhKD
Scroll down and you'll find there's a combo buy for this charger and a couple of Zeee batteries too.
Set screw on all sections, no little grub screws here 👍
A great trail car.
It is, eh. Quite fun.
From all of the reviews that I've watched, the tires should be the first thing to replace.
Funny you should say that. Next video coming soon
Looks like some different tires might help it a lot.
Could be the case. I'll definitely be looking into that!
I don't know, I have the 86100 and I love it, but the next one will be the Rescuerer.
This is a different beastie to the 86100, as you can see. I think the Rescuer might be one of RGT's most special crawlers!
@@RCTNT yeah the 86100 was very basic but with a lot of potential I think. Very durable as well!
They are making durable cars these days, absolutely.
@@RCTNTthere are no rgt or ftx dealers in canada whatsoever, only online from Hong Kong. That's a pity.
I don't know of any in Australia either!
I think full droop would help this car a lot, it definitely needs to be lower and this would be the cheapest way
You could well be right on that one.
Excellent! Very helpful information, thank you.
I've heard that there is a brushless version now, mind checking that out?
You heard right, it's running the Fusion se RTR variant. Working on getting one for review currently 👍
Okay, I've been eyeing on it for quite awhile and there are basically no reviews on it sooo thank you so much! @RCTNT
Back again haha. Have you found out which channel in the receiver is free and can be used by the button on the remote?
I have Led light set with 3 modes of lights.
I plugged it into every free channel and pressed the empty channel button on the remote and it never registered on any channel. Any ideas? Thank you yet again :)
Great content
Hey hey, yes in fact I have worked it out! Watch this video, it's the first thing I discuss at the start of the video. If yours isn't working, maybe your module isn't responding to radio input. You can test this by connecting your 3-mode light module to the steering servo channel and then turning the wheel each way to see if the lights respond.
ruclips.net/video/SdnoDL7Da1Q/видео.html
@@RCTNT Thank you so much for the reply. I will give these a shot :)
@@RCTNT if it's not responding to the channel imput what steps would I need to take to correct this?
You've tried it on the steering channel? If so and it still isn't responding, the issue is with the light module and not the radio. Check to be sure it does actually respond to radio input and not just to a switch, getting only power from the radio but not needing a signal. That'd be my first guess.
This may help you out if your module isn't actually radio controlled and only has manual switching:

Haha no, but they do spin, from memory
This car is The Witcher, cause it rolls around the floor, like a prick 😂🤣
They really overdone rolling sideways as a battle tactic, so most videos with swordfighting were full of rolling. The hero was i believe invincible during roll, but the roll was so effortless and easy, with no limit, that all you saw was rolling on the floor 😅

I've scratch built a couple of trucks - it's not easy! Kit builds are great to bridge that gap, but there's nothing wrong with an RTR. Time is valuable too, after all :)
Someone must must have won the lottery.
I didn't mean that intro to take away from the RGT Challenger's video! I've just edited the intro out, as I can see it was not a good decision in hindsight!
It was not fun on P4, that's true! I could just feel the truck wasn't happy and knew breakages were in the future at this rate!
@@RCTNT speaking of breakages, I'd be tempted to use the shoe goo and drywall fibre tape on the cab corners....
It does point out the balancing act of weight vs ground clearance. The portals give it plenty of clearance but raise the weight up quite high.

It doesn't come with a battery. Not that I can see on any website
It looked that way to me when I bought it too, but the battery was included. I guess your mileage may vary, as this seems to be something that isn't consistent with a lot of RGT models.
I'd suggest you consider any battery you get as a bonus, to avoid disappointment.
do you personally buy yr rc's or are they sent by manufacturers to test?
I buy most of my rigs, but have had a small number sent to me so far. I budgeted for this channel from the beginning, expecting to be spending a bit for a while as I grow both the channel and website. That said, I am patient and (usually) wait to buy cars when they're on sale.

@@RCTNT I AM!!!
👍👍👍
I am wary of RGT products. They look good as most Chinese copy’s do
but their quality is lacking.
I have and still own alot of different
r/c brands. I can’t believe the lack of quality and integrity of the RGT name!
Spend about the
same and get a Traxxas or other reliable & superior
r/c vehicle.
