I was 15 years old, and went to visit family in Germany in 1996 (I'm from South Africa). And my cousins were dating two guys from a German boy band called Konstruction - yes, that's how they spelled it - opening for the Backstreet Boys. They invited me to their concert. I was, like, "Who the hell are the Backstreet Boys?" Remember, this was two years before they broke big. Long story short, I went to the concert, and I was blown away. I've been a Backstreet Boy fan ever since. I'm now 36 years old, and I still have their CDs, and more than a few of their albums on USB playing in my car constantly. Thanks guys for 21 years of memories......

I just went to BSB’s DNA concert last night here in Denver, Co! THE BEST concert I’ve ever been to. THE STRONGEST, THE CLEANEST SOUND SYSTEM I HAVE EVER HEARD. Performance was on point. AWESOME intro. They deserve that Number 1 spot!!!

They are just simply amazing. They treat each other as brothers. They care for each other and never left anyone behind. Unlike any other bands in the 90's they made their way up even if they had difficulties. They are my inspiration. All other boybands from the 90's no longer make music but they are still , with their own music. I love them until I live.

Don't put Big Bang in this boy band category. They are a K-group not a boy band. Also Boyz-ll-Men are a R&B Group, they have no choreography and are icons that One Direction can't even touch. Big Bang, SS501,SUJU, EXO, 2PM and the list can go one...these are K-Groups. They are trained and groomed for years to specifically be the best and get picked to debut. Some call them factory made, but they still train harder than anyone. Only difference is, that they don't hide their intentions. In my opinion, Take That is the best "boy band". They are not even a boy band anymore because they have already grown as artists a long time ago now. Individually they might not be the best singers or dancers but overall creatively they are pretty much the best of the "boy band" genre. They don't need songwriters. Well, I agree with you that BSB were great, only The Beatles would beat them as the greatest boy band but Jackson Five was inducted in Hall of Fame, that speaks for their success and greatness.
For me it is hard to say which would be number 1 between New Kids and BSB. When you think of the modern boy bad, NKOTB was kind of the prototype so to speak. BSB has definitely aged better music wise though. For me NKOTB and BSB are 1a and 1b respectively.

I just went to BSB’s DNA concert last night here in Denver, Co! THE BEST concert I’ve ever been to. THE STRONGEST, THE CLEANEST SOUND SYSTEM I HAVE EVER HEARD. Performance was on point. AWESOME intro. They deserve that Number 1 spot!!!

Unlike any other bands in the 90's they made their way up even if they had difficulties. They are my inspiration. i agreed with you, big bang is not only as a boy band but also the first asian group to get their album on billboard chart. These guys are the reason who defines K-pop as a genre. they are talented and each have their own individual popularity
backstreet boys were definitely the best, though I would have ranked nsync and 98° as the next best. and thank you for not marking the wanted as the top hit! they sucked!

Just went to BSB concert. They totally deserve to be first. Great vocals, great dancing, every song is catchy. Soooo good. It either had to be them or NKOTB.

In terms of global sales of these albums, the gap is too wide, in favor of BSB. Hands down, BSB outsold Nsync in global sales, even in US. Those who say otherwise are delusional.

In my opinion, Take That is the best "boy band". They are not even a boy band anymore because they have already grown as artists a long time ago now. Individually they might not be the best singers or dancers but overall creatively they are pretty much the best of the "boy band" genre. They don't need songwriters. Particularly with Gary fricking Barlow you have the best bandleader and chief songwriter you can ask for. I mean, "Back For Good", "Patience", "The Flood"? Are you kidding me? These are bloody good pop tunes 👍.
Still you can talk out of your preference, but nothing is as big as BSB. More than 20 years on stage, broke all records that a band can break. Most important is that they had no lead singer, no mr.Big Deal. If Jackson 5 were that great why they didn't exist whitout Michael? Same goes for NSYNC and so on, if one of BSB leaves its no problem when everybody can actually sing, if they are down to 3 left in the band they will still be top. They are this big that right now, they produce themselves, they sing what they want the way they want, some good non-commercial music, and we are all tired of commercial nonesence.Nuff said, BSB is larger than life! :)

Well, I agree with you that BSB were great, only The Beatles would beat them as the greatest boy band but Jackson Five was inducted in Hall of Fame, that speaks for their success and greatness.

For me it is hard to say which would be number 1 between New Kids and BSB. When you think of the modern boy bad, NKOTB was kind of the prototype so to speak. BSB has definitely aged better music wise though. For me NKOTB and BSB are 1a and 1b respectively.

None None Me too! They are as wrong as two left shoes for that. It’s been 36 years and they STILL can’t get it together. RBRM was in my town yesterday, and I did NOT go to see them because I am not supporting any further efforts until they do right by Ralph. Ralph said that he felt “betrayed” by the other guys going on tour without him. And it all started with Michael Bivins’ passive aggressive comments on Instagram back in the spring. It’s a darn shame.
