At my high-school the nerdy one who was actually kinda weird was looked up to I a lot of ways, and the other kids still liked him, even though it was a very much not "weird" friendly school. I mean yeah, you always have the jerks who will still bully, but people don't really like the bullies as much as it is portrayed.
