Well, BJJ also resorts to using one's hands. And it will be (extremely) hard for a boxer, to land clean shots to a BJJ fighter, once he's getting out-grappled, ragdolled or single/double legged and taken down. And once the BJJ fighter throws the boxer to the ground, he will immediately maneuver the boxer at ease and will force positions were ground techniques and ground strikes (which he masters better than the boxer) will be easier to perform than actual boxing strikes.

He literally says that he says boxing is great, you should learn multiple types of striking as well. He also says you should do wrestling. YOU NEED JIU JITSU. The fallacy is the 10/10 thing. Effectiveness is based on the individual, not the style. If someone manages distance well and can land punches, you see grapplers with no striking experience wilt. On the other hand, if the grappler knows how to manage distance and strikes, he can do his thing. The idea that one style is better is stupid. It's not. You need skills and attributes for each and on top of all of that you need to understand how to manage conflicts verbally and recognize when you're about to get into a fight. You can train all the martial arts you want in the world, but when a thug who has knocked out A LOT of people through talking his way closer to you and sucker punching you, IDC what art you train. If you are unconscious, you can't armbar someone or knock them out. This video is misleading about what Jocko says and his stance. While he is definitely a Jiu Jitsu fan boy, the title to this video is not his stance.
I agree that, depending on the situation, boxing can be (much) more effective than BJJ. But in this particular case, we're analysing Boxer vs BJJ fighter. And it's arguably true that a boxer's only chance to win that fight, is by delivering a KO early. The problem is, BJJ fighters are trained to physically engage the other guy, in ways that make it extremely difficult for him to land strikes. No matter how good of a boxer he may be. Stylistically speaking, BJJ is a bad match for a boxer. A boxer has more chance of winning vs a Muay Thai guy (for instance), than vs a BJJ fighter.
You can be an amazing boxer; multiple opponents will most likely best you anyway. There are multiple examples of accomplished mma fighters and boxers, who were beat down by 2 or 3 douche bags.

You're talking about jiu jitsu 10 years ago. Jiu Jitsu now, is basically wrestling with submission proficiency. If that's not the case in your academy, you should change academy.

This is particularly true of youve trained only with other people who want to go to the ground, so youre not used to having ng to earn it. Fights may end ep on the ground but they start standing up. Dont believe the hype. Cross train or get stomped.
Its easier to learn pretty good takedown defense compared to high level boxing. A boxer not trained in take down defense will lose most of the time in a street fight/mma to someone trained in wrestling/jiu jitsu. Weestling is the base, then add kick boxing/muy thai, then add jiu jitsu. You have to be able to MAKE your opponent fight you where you are the strongest and in relation they are the weakest.
