- Father Mike Schmitz and I discuss the idea of "Agreements;" when we agree, almost without thinking, to subtle premises that we are unworthy of love, or are worthless. Father Mike and I talk about how we combat these accusations made by the devil, not by trying to directly reject them, but by focusing on the source of the negative idea, and exposing it as a lie. We must find our identity in our being sons and daughters of God, through Jesus Christ.

Learn this exercise early in life and life will go so much easier on you, trust me I’ve learned the hard way.

@@brookecoach there isn't a person in the world that doesn't have issues, it's impossible to be perfect in a fallen world, you can't grow if your 'perfect', its better to be imperfect and fall from time to time because it will keep you humble, and by praying every day and keeping your mind,body and soul pure and humble one day you will fall for the last time through the gates of heaven.

i will help with the mind "dont belive in everything, question everything, belive and seek the truth, repent when fault, seek jesus a lot. lord, is the good guy , lord is truth, the honest the humble, is is kind , he is good, is the real good. satan is game, with bad intentions, he trying to defeat you, trying break you, faking the good, being the bad , sometimes it you. sometimes is you who want to change , who doesn't want to see , disbelief . you sometimes don't want to seek. . virgina mary, saint michel, and jesus is the way the role models you can choose wveyday.

I live in Denver as well. For the love of God man Pray. The. Rosary. Pony up and start praying [15] decades a day. Sorry for the plug but theres another yiutuber on here called Gabiafterdark. He has a great video on how to get started praying a full decade rosaries with testimonials. Our Mother has literally given us a weapon from heaven. Use it.
Regarding spiritual attack, what are your thoughts on God allowing Job to be attacked by Satan or God allowing Peter to be attacked by Satan?
I being this up because you mention being attacked but ultimately who is in control, the enemy or God?
Eric God is always in control, but I feel by God alloying this he wants to teach us understand that we have more power than satan as long as we keep our faith and through the blood of Jesus, if we don’t give up the victory is ours
Fr.Miking hit it on the nail…Naming it, identifying it, the truth of what your experiencing & acknowledging feelings that may be contrary to the truth while also living in the midst of truth.

Those accusations drove me into a 3-year depression starting when I was 11 years old. And how much proof there was! Eventually the accusations became the whole truth, in my mind. It wasn't until rock bottom, when my closest circle of friends all dropped me on the same day, that I was able to begin to recognize what was happening. After my grieving period of a couple weeks, I woke up one day and decided that God must have a reason for this. God has a reason for this. And slowly I was opened to all the counter-proofs, that I really was likeable and loved. And so I made the effort, similar to what Matt does in the beginning of this video, to replace every accusation with a positive truth. I didn't know I was battling demons, so I didn't use the same format as Mr. Fradd. But the effect was the same :)
I've begun to learn in my spiritual walk, that I can acknowledge and affirm my feelings and at the same time recognize that they don't always reflect the truth about myself or a given situation.

These guys just saved me a bunch of money in therapy! Seriously! I have struggled with feeling worthless for years and it doesn’t help when pretty much every one in my life really is smarter than me. But the deep pain I have been having is how some of my friends treated me. The pain is of betrayal and the pain is so deep that it is going on 10 years now. And even though I am finally starting to feel forgiveness in my heart towards them. What Fr. Mike said about the brokenness of these people that caused you pain. WOW! I never really gave that too much thought. So these friends of mine that hurt me definitely have a lot of brokenness in their heart. Thank You Matt and Fr. Mike. I will be better able to pray for my friends brokenness and mine. Thank You Merciful Jesus, the Immaculate Heart of Mary and the Holy Spirit.

I had the most freeing experience: recently, while doing my prayers, I suddenly felt very unworthy. Then the thoughts “why should I bother, I’m just going to go to hell; I am so unworthy“ came to me. I looked at the crucifix before me, I pointed to it and I said “ you are right, demon, I am unworthy; and there is my full payment! The loving, tortured, Holy blood of Jesus Christ paid for me!” At that very moment I felt totally free. I can only guess at the holy spirit led me to that because I didn’t even know why I did it! However; the rest of my prayers are free of guilt and I felt a loving peace.
I don't feel a failure when speaking with someone smarter - I know there's always someone smarter than me. I feel worthless when interacting with someone more successful or wealthy than I am.
Pray an act of perfect contrition everyday
Thanks Father and Matt, really inspirational for me to listen to this advice. We need to discern every situation! Thanks for our great Catholic Church and all our evangelists like you helping us all to lead better lives for our own good and for the good of our whole world!
i get those kind of intuitions/feelings all the time and just sort of try to grit through it and/or avoid the situations...I am old enough now to realize it won't go away for the rest of my life, so its great to be given a better blueprint forward in fighting the fight we all fight. My father used to always say: The road to hell is paved with good intentions. That is what I hear when I feel like a failure. But you are right, Fr. Mike, Jesus died for us anyway. He always loves us!
Napping has been proven to refresh the mind. One feels sleepy for a reason. It aids productivity. I know religious people who take naps in church.

Agreements are important for structure and I truly believe if we form an agreement we should stick to it for the right reasons. Recently I had to apply to the Family courts, to be judged and it was worth the leap of faith to form the resulting agreement and I couldn't be happier with the outcome.
I did it for my child because they want to be with me more and that was the right reason in my experience.
The evil in an accusation isn't in whether or not there's grounds for it, but in that the vast majority of the time it is an action devoid of love.

Michael Zutz the warfare is against the thoughts that accuse you of being worthless, the prayer is "in the Name of Jesus Christ, I know my worth is in You", but you have to tailor it to what thoughts you specifically are fighting
Stuff around 3:30 - 4:00 is the reasoning you should emulate

I liked Matt's using of prayer to uncover the lies he's been believing. Super useful. But I did not like Fr. Mike's resorting to Brene Brown or DBT. If I wanted to learn about those topics I would have gone to Ted Talks. I want catholic resources not secular ones! If we can't go to our priests for Catholic teaching then who can we go to? I usually like Fr. Mike. This time, not so much.
