Okay, I may have laughed the hardest I ever have on a Try video, when Colin did his impression of Gilbert Gottfried and Brian Johnson of AC/DC simultaneously.
He nailed it too right
@@andreereynolds3782 Doing a shot (or two or three or...) in recognition.
Genius.
OMG it was SPOT ON
It. Was. LEGENDARY!!!!! Un-fookin-believable....
Each and every one of the people who’ve been in your videos over the years are lovely, but Colin quoting AC/DC while doing a Gilbert Gottfried is-and I’m not being hyperbolic here-the. best. thing. ever.
Colin skipping detention to go to a metal concert is pretty fucking metal
Plus he said it was his one and only detention, which means that he didn't get a further detention for skipping that detention. It's a metal miracle!

Donal's hair rearranging itself after every shot is pure art.
Colin’s metal story in the beginning & the Gilbert Gottfried impression. Dude is the MVP of this video
He fuckin nailed the spirits of this video! 👍🏻
Agreed!!!
I'm impressed with his Gilbert Gottfried! It's not an easy accent to do on top of that weird sounding voice XD
@@TheRavenfish9 It was great, and now I want to see Gilbert do a spoken word cover album of their greatest hits

I like how I only realised the KISS rum was a dark rum after I read it on the label.
Lol! I thought the same thing. 😄
And it's apt since KISS is not now nor has it ever been metal. They're a too-pale-for-dark dark rum, too. ;)
You also didn't appear to realize that members of Judas Priest could be your grandfather 😄
As a middle aged metalhead, Kiss always confused me. Their image just doesn't fit the music they sing. They try to look badass and crazy and then proceed to sing ballads and happy party themes. Growing up I would listen to Kiss and be like, "What? That is not metal. That's pop with extreme makeup."
Then seeing Gene Simmons acting like a complete egotistical dick really turned me off. I mean Dave Mustaine is a dick too, but he is metal about it! Gene just believes he's god's gift. I try not to let personality play a part in art, but the dude is such a douche.
I never thought I needed Gilbert Gottfried reciting AC/DC to get me through a Monday.
Bless you, Try Channel.
Google him reading Fifty Shades of Gray then next time you need a pick me up
I just watched Gilbert’s reading for the first time ever and I can confirm the rest of my week is going to be incredible!

Your Gilbert Gottfried impression was spot on!!
With such devastating force, I'm now suffering from a bit of...Whiplash.
Dude, you fuckin nailed it harder than anybody has ever nailed it before.
Heavy metal music?!, skipping detention?! Colin!, you just became my favourite Tryer!!!
🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Look out for lawsuits from Gilbert Gottfried...you did him better than he does.
The fact that Kiss who’s must visible member doesn’t drink has alcohol is just a nice reminder of how they market literally everything.
Gene Simmons may not like drinking, but he certainly likes merchandising.
He does have an addiction and that's money
Dónal grabbed almost every bottle by the neck like he was going to bash Colin over the head with it.
Ahh, like your avatar. Hope they make a new Fallout soon. ;)
He may well have done it. 😉
First it's a club, then it's a knife.
I totally want to hear Gilbert Gottfried "Sing" ACDC Songs now. Or just let Colin do it. Same thing
You’ll only be able to hear impressions of it now
Geezus! That was the best Gilbert Gottfried doing AC/DC impression I've ever heard in my life! 🤟🏻
“It makes no sense.”
IT MAKES PERFECT SENSE! And I’m not even a big Metallica fan. The vibrations of the music makes the casks absorb and extract.
I agree, similar to the way whiskey can be aged faster when in a barrel in a ship with the rocking motion with the waves.
Jammie and Paddy look like they are about to star in the Irish remake of "Weekend at Bernie's"
Love it!
Jaime's shirt is the fabric of Legends!
Colin! Metallica puns? You're Unforgiven. Donal? You're Unforgiven II.
Colin…awesome Gilbert impression! More of that, please!🤪
He nailed it.
We're also gonna need an entire video of Colin doing impersonations of Gilbert Gottfried singing covers. I had to nab my inhaler after that.
😂
Ohhhhhh……..alcohol roulette doing impersonations!!!!!
I have come away from this video with a far greater respect for Colin, especially if that concert story was true. Terrifyingly accurate impression too, 10/10
Actually - ANY vibration can have an effect on the 'Process' as the alcohol is aged. it does not effect the alcohol itself. from opening up the wood to soak deeper to knocking off particles into the liquid.
There was studies done where kind words spoken to freezing water maybe and it alters the patterns into pretty shapes. If negative words were directed it formed ugly sloppy patterns. So theres something that needs a bit of dig n research on.
@@erink695 yeah but that study was bullshit lol. it can't be replicated.
@@fullmetalfunk theres more than one. But nice try.
@@erink695 i didn't say there weren't others, just that Masaru Emoto's exact findings haven't been replicated, he was invited to reproduce the findings in a strict scientific setting for $1 million and didn't answer the offer. that said i only know of one other study that had the desired outcome people focused on sending "positive energy" to water, something that can not be measured or controlled for and thus is already not a reliable experiment. not to mention the entire premise is based off of whether or not the crystals that form are "beautiful" or "ugly" which are not empirical or quantifiable qualities. the studies done also have small sample sizes, and bc of the nature of not being able to truly quantify what is a good or bad result, the controls are insufficient and methodology is flawed.

As an aging metal head (aging meaning mid thirties and starting to notice things like back pain, white nose hairs, and music from my youth playing in grocery stores) this is now my favorite try channel video. Colin, you and I have similar stories. I also skipped detention (wasn't my first or only) to go see mastodon
I feel your comment on a spiritual level 🤣🤘🏽

I laughed when they acted like they were the geezers, not knowing that Judas Priest could be their grandfathers.
33 and metal head so I know what you mean
I would genuinely love a whole video of Dónal and Colin doing Gilbert Gottfried metal lyrics .. or any most anything else as Gilbert, really!
One of the best Gilbert Gotfried impressions ever! Good job Collin.
Great videos 🤟🥩
Motorhead was by far one of the BEST live shows I've ever seen...I'd have expected Lemmy to want to make a whiskey over a vodka honestly
I thought the same thing.
Motörhead has made whiskey in collaboration with the Swedish brand mackmyra. They have also made beer, wine, rum and such. But the whiskey is actually the real deal.
towards the end, Lemmy only drank Vodka and Orange
Vodka is much cheaper and much faster to make and sell than whiskey....
Lemmy's favorite tipple was Jack Daniels.
He also liked Maker's Mark.
Metallica went all out when they came up with the idea for this whiskey, they consulted with the late Dave Pickerel. He was one of the most well respected blenders in the whiskey business. He helped create Whistlepig Rye along with many other well loved craft whiskies.
It's not worth the money
Colin's Gotfried impression was spot-on!! Hilarious!
I would 100% buy an album of Colin doing Gilbert Gottfried doing ac/dc.
Ironically, must of these bands have been sober for years.
At some point you have to learn that a bottle of whiskey isn't a serving size, or you end up dead having asphyxiated from your own vomit.
@@hhale Vodka goes starts to go bad as soon as it's opened.
Ultrasound has been used to "speed age" whiskey, the vibrations cause the liquid in the barrel to penetrate farther into the wood enabling a speedier interaction with the wood chemicals such as tannins and vanillins, so the playing of music may have some impact.
That is interesting and actually makes some sense when you think about the vibration. I have also seen experiments where plants will grow better when played heavy metal versus other styles of music. Sound has great power that we often do take for granted. That being said, the way they put it forward in their advertising for the whiskey does come across as a load! LOL!
"Now, a “nook” in the kitchen of Quadrant is dedicated to Mendenhall’s own experiments. Using various soaked woods and a homogenizer rod that dispenses about 20,000 pulses per second of amplified sound waves, he is transforming liters of “base” whiskeys into products that taste like they’ve been aged for decades. But really, all it takes is 30 minutes."
It does however have a Cinderella Effect, in that after about a year the whiskey will revert to it's base taste. They are trying to extend that time with further experimentation.
I'd say, for now it will work for home small batch distilling, or in a bar setting where a bottle is emptied relatively fast.
Collin skipped detention to attend a concert?! A man after me own heart, he is! LMMFAO
I've actually heard that sound can affect the pressure applied to a container. I suppose that could affect whatever is inside the container.... I guess.... maybe........
Sonic cleaners exist for a reason, and in several industries. The technology increases the interaction between the liquid and the solid - in this case the spirits and the barrel. Same principle as cleaning, just with whiskey molecules rubbing up on the brandy-blackened wood. I totally believe the sound increases the interaction, and the flavor, but I need to be convinced that varied music would make the flavors appreciably different. Also, I'm gonna nope on the fart-whiskey.
Yeah, it sounds mental but it's actually a sound (pun intended) principle. Just obviously complete tosh that different music would have appreciatively different results.
Yup. Nailed it. Entirely had to do with barrel interaction. Clearly sound has no effect on spirits in a glass bottle, but yes it does actually make a difference in how the spirit interacts with a barrel.
They actually did a whole video on sonic ageing whiskey on the Wiskey Tribe channel and it is pretty mehish.

The fact that Colin learned rock/metal music the same way I did (playing a shitload of GH and Rockband) makes me feel a little happier. It's a decent way to be introduced to it, honestly.
I actually found so many great bands that I still listen to thanks to Guitar Hero.
The Gilbert Gottfried bit killed me, btw. 😂
Knowing Lemmy, I'm actually a bit surprised that Motorhead's liquor wasn't something based on Jack Daniels
I now want to hear Gilbert Gottfried do the Brian Johnson catalog of AC/DC and maybe Touch Too Much as well.
Good to see that Motorhead got a good drink. The legacy of Lemmy could stand no less.
As a life-long Metallica fan, when I heard about the whole playing our music at the whiskey thing...I died a little.
Let's just blame Lars and be done with it lol
You've been dying a little since the Black album if you are being honest.

I was thinking that myself. Trooper Ale is pretty darn good, frankly.

A dear friend just happened to bring Blackened over to share over the weekend. You did not mention that it is uncut, cask strength, but it is still so nice. That is one helluva nice whiskey! Cheers!!
As a southerner, seeing the Piggly Wiggly shirt makes me so happy 😊
I bought the Blackened whiskey just to show off that bullshit story about "sonic maturation" to everyone I know. The fact that it tasted really good was a pleasant surprise.
Well..... sonic vibrations might have an effect in agitating the contents of the barrels more than they would otherwise have been. Maybe..... sort of ...kind of like......
I just like the name they slapped on it.
The more I know. The more I know how little I know.
Yeah music actually does change the taste and properties. There's distilleries that have been doing it for years. There's a clear difference in taste between normal aged whiskey and the same thing that's been aged with music vibrations.
Science here. We've got both fact and fiction today, kids. Music *DOES* change a spirits flavor. *IF* its being aged in casks. But its not because of the music. Its the vibrations that causes the spirit to interact with the wood more vigorously, leeching more flavor from it. You could play metal, country, Beethoven or the taco bell ding mixed with the 'oh no!....our table!....its broken!' sound clip with the same results. Its the frequency, not the content that causes sonic maturation.
@@Volyren I think volume would matter as well no?
Very nice! Ever considered "Irish People Try Metal Music"? A bit different from the food or alcohol try shoots you usually do, but I'm curious to see some TRYers react to some metal. Doesn't even need to be classics only, throw a bit of everything in there!
Preferably some real metal not the classic rock they referenced in this video lol

Irish People Try To Avoid Copyright Strikes 🤣
Preferably The Coffin Ships by Primordial since it's about a major Irish historical event.
Irish people react to black metal. Considering the country we live/ grew up in and the influence the church had, it's the opposite end of the spectrum. I think they'd love a bit of o father, o Satan, o sun by behemoth on a Friday afternoon.
Absolutely love when Donal sneezes!! He's like that adorable sneezing Panda XD
Sonic maturation is actually a thing - the vibration causes the whiskey to interact with the barrel faster. A barrel vibrated for a week tastes like it had been traditionally aged for years.
I'm not surprised they could even begin to understand that.
Still though, whatever is played will make no effect
@@misteranderson8280 I bet you're a subject matter expert
Sonic maturation is a thing, although I’m not sure how effective Metallica music would be. The key is that the alcohol is in the barrel when vibrations are induced through sound waves. The vibrations help the wood from the barrel and the spirit interact more, causing it to absorb flavors of the wood (I.e., mature) faster.
That was great! Rammstein has a full line of alcohols...give it a go. 🤘🏻🔥
One of the best vids ever! The guys doing "metal" Gilbert Gottfried, just, genius and hilarious. Paddy and Jamie together are both hot and brilliant! Did not know I needed Gilbert Gottfried delivering AC/DC songs until this video. Thank you for that majesty.
I have seen them all in concert. Even skipped my best friends rehearsal dinner to see Motorhead (they were playing a block away from our hotel). Judas Priest this March 6 in Denver.....ROCK ON TRY channel !!!!
I never knew I needed Gilbert singing AC-DC. You learn something every day.
KISS' alcohol should've been Cold Gin. Just sayin'. . .
Exactly what I said. I feel like the same company just struck up brand deals with Kiss and Judas Priest (and who knows who else) and it's the exact same stuff in both bottles.
They've made a cold gin...that somehow has warm in the taste description
The marketing people would have licked it up.
As a Memphian I gotta respect the Piggly Wiggly shirt. For those unaware, it's a grocery store that was founded in Memphis,TN.
I remember going to Piggly Wiggly stores when I was younger!
The Gilbert Gottfried impression earned this video my like.
The vibrations from the music brings out the tannins in the charred barrels. A true fact!!
Donal could revive the old AFLAC Duck and make a fortune
That Gilbert Gottfried impression made my ENTIRE DAY!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Christ Almighty, now I wanna hear Gilbert Gottfried actually reading AC/DC lyrics. 🤣🤣🤣
Not going to lie. Colin's impression of Gilbert Gottfried is one of the best I've ever heard. And that's not even counting the fact that him doing AC/DC lyrics was hilarious!
Metallica vibrated their music through the whiskey?! That is so cool! And yes, that does work. It's a genuine trick used by many distillers to speed up maturation, so you can get a deeper flavor in less time. Kind of like the electroplating method to coat metal for jewelry, utensils, or flatware. It's usually just white noise/electrical waves though. But playing the music through is kind of genius.
I absolutely love all the descriptions!❤️🙏❤️🙏
The only theory I can think of about the music vibration with a whiskey. Is that it may agitate the barrels some to bring out more smokiness. Weather or not that would make any difference.... I don't know. It would be interesting to try some that didn't and their musically enhanced to see if there's a noticeable difference..
That’s the basic idea, the movement “ages” the whiskey quicker in the barrel.
As a master distiller I can tell you the pressure differences that music will put on a container (whiskey barrel) DOES make a difference. The changes in the pressure make the liquid move in and out of the oak barrels. It is a simpler version of sea aging whiskey. Where they load barrels onto a boat and in 5-6 months you have the equivalent of 5-7 year old aged whiskey from the boat rocking and yes rolling around along with pressure and humidity changes the barrels go through makes the whiskey moving in and out of the wood much faster then sitting in a warehouse.
Have barrels stored in Turkey, Nepal, California.... that will shake some soot loose.
@@revtoyota They tried an ultrasonic cleaner on Moonshiners and it just shook way too much stuff lose.
@Eric McLuen it's probably filtered after the barrel. The little bits floating would just increase the flavor profile, in my opinion.
As someone who grew up in the American South...gotta give props to the Piggly Wiggly shirt, lol!
Hope you do a part 2. You missed Megadeth's beer, Slipknot's No. 9, and others.

The Metallica "shite" was awesome. That whole line about maturing the whiskey with music reminds me of something Lars would attempt. LOLOLOL
I bet that was the idea of Lars. It's got his brand of bullshit written all over it.
Another cool video from TRY people. The science is solid in the comments, for sure. Sound pressure as it applies to speakers and speaker enclosures applies to the caskets and the room they are housed, specifically the ventilation aspect I’d guess. I’m thinking whiskey for the Leprechaun applies also, alcohol is a spirit, spirit is in the player, Metallica, their music, might have, kept the bad spirits out of the whiskey it’ all works out on paper.
Colins impression of Gilford Godfrey was so unexpected and amazing holy shyt that was one of the best GG impressions I've seen !! LOL
The Piggly Wiggly shirt wins today!👍👍👍
Whisk(e)y geek here - sonic maturation is actually a thing. Whisk(e)y draws most of its taste and color from the barrels it's matured/aged/finished in. The liquid (which is clear when distilled and filled) interacts with the barrel and develops its taste profile and color across a certain period of time. Many factors influence this interaction, including atmospheric pressure and weather in general - during hot seasons the liquid expands and penetrates deeper into the wood, and vice versa. That's why bourbon for instance matures way faster in the hot climates of Kentucky/Texas then does Scotch or Irish whiskey - a 10 yo bourbon is considered old, whereas a 10-12 yo scotch is still fairly young. Also, the type of wood, the size of the barrel, if the barrel held any previous other alcohol, if the wood is toasted or charred and at what degree, if the maturation house is located mainland or next to a sea shore etc. are all highly important elements when it comes to the flavor the finite product will have, but I'm not gonna go into such details.
Back to the sonic maturation - playing music means there are soundwaves which make the liquid inside the barrel vibrate, hence enhancing the interaction between the liquid and the barrel. This can translate into a deeper flavor (wood tannins, wood char sugars which bring sweet flavors like vanilla and caramel etc.). Also, if the barrel held a previous alcohol, this will allow the whisk(e)y to assimilate some of those flavors better. The time of the maturation can also be reduced (random example: a whisk(e) which undergone sonic maturation for 4 years can have a similar profile as one which aged in a "classic" manner for 5 years). Also, the amount of liquid lost to natural evaporation can be reduced. Of course, all these can only profit the maker, as they can produce more whisk(e)y in a faster way, without compromising its character, so most likely more and more producers will start experimenting with sonic maturation.
Geek moment over :)

Fun fact - frequency DOES have a significant effect on liquids and their composition down to the molecular level.
When the whiskey is inside the barrels the vibration from the music creates more flavor in the whiskey....👍
Colin's Gilbert Gottfried was *ON POINT!* I don't care that he's a producer. That should have earned him the thumbnail.
yes, vodka sneezes are a real th>choo
The idea of Blackened being sonically bombarded by a playlist that Metallica chose may have some merit. The vibrations from the bass might vibrate the black brandy casks the whiskey was aged in, thereby releasing additional flavor notes that had been absorbed into the wood of the casks.
Well then we know they're not playing anything from ... And Justice For All. 😩
All sounds have a vibrational frequency not just bass
