edit: Wish I had purchased the W502B but the W702B works well with the available BMW mount. However, your mount looks more substantial When using a Cardo Freecomn 4X, connect to the phone only to retain all of the Cardo voice and headset controls. You may need to toggle the phone button to activate the interaction with the CarPlay unit.
Carpuride also sell the bmw mount like you have which I discovered after I bought a 3d printed one myself. The Carpuride one replaces the ball with an identical mount you have. I did not know this and ordered one of another 3d guy in France , waiting for it to arrive , let's see.
Many thanks, I have the W502 version, which had old firmware, so I emailed Carpuride they emailed back the the updated firmware, this must be dowbloaded on a SD card no bigger that 32gb, I tired orgianally with a 64GB, but it could'nt read it, works fine with 32GB. Now has option to use audio output ... works perfectly with Iphone & Packtalk bold.Just ordered spare power cable and BMW cable mount, so I can swop it between 2 bikes.
Just watched the video. Thanks for the mention. The way you use is is how I mentioned in my review how to use it for the audio. Now doing a long term test of the unit. Ride safe and great work being blood biker 👍
In defense most cars come with some form of navigation and entertainment system yet most vehicle buyers still require/demand Android Auto or Apple Carplay. People's "lives" exist on their phones. Why should car/motorcycle manufacturers put resources towards developing their own unique proprietary platform when customers will generally revert to and operate with Android Auto or Apple Carplay anyway.
thanks for covering it all, I still have a couple of questions Sir if you would. 1. So in summary, you paired your phone to the headset and also the phone to the Carpuride ( to activate the Caprlay). Never the Carpuride to the headset. When you want to select the music on your Spotify you use the unit wich will comand the phone which will sent to the headset. Is that it? 2. Do you have a firmware version number or code to share, so we all know which one is the latest and which one should be updated? thks
thanks for sharing, the ability to fit a proper adapter that fits the BMW connect cradle is a game changer for me, so I might get one, but I wonder what you think about size, the 7" you have fitted does look a little bit big, wondering if the 5" might be a good option? also, it you could share your wiring changes in more detail that would very helpful too...
The adapter I bought also fits the W502 so that’s definitely an option! Basically the wiring change is there is a short piece of cable on the W702 that goes to a connector, you can then plug this into either the enclosed USB lead or another lead they supply that goes direct to the battery. The adapter picks up the power off the BMW cradle and goes to 2 wires inside it which means you have to cut the connector on the W702 and join to the ones in the adapter. It’s literally 2 wires but obviously it does mean it voids the warranty for the unit if it goes wrong.
I do yes for ride recording but due to it wanting to steal the audio I’ve had to setup an Apple Shortcut automation so when it connects to the BMW TFT it then puts the audio destination back to my headset (which isn’t paired to the bike) so I can still take calls or listen to music
@@TheStammeringBiker that’s just the information I needed ! Brilliant idea! I was wondering why I kept loosing audio when phone connected to the bike. Thank you
I install mine on my 1300gs. When you turn off bike does it touch it your windshield? Is there any way to avoid that. The screen automatically goes down! And hit the device!
It doesn’t hit the screen on mine, you can perhaps loosen the Nav cradle and tilt it down slightly perhaps? I have the screen on the highest of the 2 mounting points.
Hey Colin sorry for the delay in replying. I’m torn between which I prefer, I think if I could have gotten a smaller tablet but still bigger than a phone then I’d have said the tablet, providing it had good brightness in direct sun. But the Galaxy Tab on my new bike looks massive so I’m currently preferring the Carpuride as it’s much smaller and neater and the screen can be seen even in bright sun with my sun visor down.
Buongiorno, bello il video. Dove potrei trovare l adattatore? Io ho un BMW gs 1250 Adv del 2023. Non ho bisogno da fare nessuna modifica di cablaggio? Penso vada bene come quello del video.
Unfortunately regardless of which BMW specific mount you use, it removes the ball at the back so the angle is fixed. You can tilt the entire BMW cradle though it’s just 4 torx bolts and can be adjusted.
Oh man please explain the steps you done to get everything working, im having the same issues with the sound its very stressful or maybe the version of your update and how you updated it
So assuming you have the same software version as me, you need to have your headset connected to your phone before powering on the Carpuride, then go into the Audio Output section and switch it to iPlay/Auto so that the Carpuride never gets the audio sent to it. If you are still struggling I’ll try and help more :)

Hi! I'm in doubt with the size. I prefer 7" but I'm afraid that it cover the GS (1250) TFT information. What do you think about it? It wouldn't be happen or maybe it's better do get 5" size?
I'm 6ft2 so seeing OVER the screen is not an issue, doesn't cause any obstruction or interference to my riding visibility, as for the TFT it ever so slightly cuts into the top line of info on the TFT I'll admit. It's definitely not enough to cause me an issue I just have to lean back ever so slightly and I can see it, definitely not a hinderence but the 5inch would almost definitely eliminate that and in hindsight would probably be perfectly adequate :)
Yep, I couldn’t agree more & I’ve just bought one. Gear box is rubbish, no satnav, poor wind protection, never able to seriously go off road, not very good for two up touring, etc., etc.
