Hi Denise, wanted to thank you for mentioning my Kuretake review video and linking to it from this one. VERY much appreciated and I think quite a few folks who didn’t know about my channel came over and subscribed, for which I’m very grateful. Love your work as always! Thanks again, Diane x
Thank God...somebody else loves books! I either buy other people's on ebay or inter-library loan, or I'd have a houseful! You hit the nail on the head again, Denise!
I always end up spending so much money when I watch your videos lol! I had to get those vintage pastel watercolors. I’m grateful that you do these videos because it introduces me to so many new products! ❤
I was surprised the karetaki granulating color was less vivid with less granulation when used directly from the paint palette as compared to the "watered down" paint. Thanks for sharing with us.❤
Oh Denise, what a haul;) I also sew and Kate Leach just came out with a beautiful fabric collection too! I collect art supplies and fabric. The Archer and Olive box was just beautiful. It reminds me of what you could find on a lady's desk in the '20s. I love journals, but not journaling. So many creative endeavours out there and not enough time. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and catching us all up. You nails look beautiful.
Thx solo much for showing the art books, esp these. I would love to see you doung abstract flower samples for fun Loved the flower stencil tip at 21:50 And love the flower ceramic for water colors😊
Yeahhhh awesomeness for Friday night!! I love your painting!!! Those watercolors are super cool and I really enjoy mine. I'm usually a pink girl, but for some reason the orange is my favorite in this set. I love that you call them tricky because it always makes me think of that Run DMC song "It's Tricky" 😂
What a haul! Art Philosophy Confections are some of my favorite pan watercolors. I have several sets - Odyssey, Woodlands, Complexion, Essence, Terrain ... All are gorgeous, and the color families they create are so interesting!
Thank you for such an informative clip! I enjoyed seeing all the new products & I have just ordered one of the books! Thanks so much for inviting us into your studio for a visit.
That Archer and Olive subscription box is truely incredible!! I had gotten one and I absolutely LOVE the journals! They are beautiful and the quality you can't beat!! Loved that you unboxed this gem ❤ You can also make them line journals!! That's what the pretty ruler can before if you want!
Denise this was great timing with this video, an artist friend just gifted me the Abstract watercolour bok and a set of the new granulating Kuretake colours, and I realy love the effects they create,I discovered they also work great when used with metallic watercolours added to tem when they are still wet on the paper. Glad you love the Archer and Olive acryligraph pens, these are a staple for me and are great for mixed media. I also discovered the Granulating colours also work well with the graphite Kuretake colours as well again when these are both wet,but I wil experiment more with the Graulating colours mixed with metallics as it creates great effects.(matt)P.s A book you might love and be inspired by is "Watercolour Textures For Artists" by Ana Victoria Calderon, definitly worth looking into.
Shopping, yeah! The water colors are so cool, they even look beautiful in your palette. You had lots great finds, Denise. I made a stencil with yupo paper and a die.. I think it will hold up well. Thanks for sharing your art haul, Denise.🤗
Oh lala, the first book! Creative Abstract Watercolor. What a beautiful book!! LOVE it. I don´t do journaling but the the things in that box, are pretty and "goldy" 😊😍
I love Kate Leach book, it’s on my wish list for months now….I gotta get it …😅I love all of your books aaaaand I too love to watch an I follow Diane Antone an I loved her review on the Kuretake Gansai Tambi Granulating Colours……I adore abstract florals …loving your art haul. adore your stencils…looking forward to seeing you play with your new tools….❤❤❤❤❤
I bought the book Creative Abstract Watercolor yesterday. But it won’t be here for a week so I also ordered the Kindle version. Just couldn’t wait. It is a fantastic book!!! I’m so glad you showed it in your fantastic art haul. Also, many thanks for doing a demo on the edge rulers. I have the metal one and I think it hates me. Even when I tear off a full inch it is so difficult for me. I have tried wetting the paper, tearing from the back of the paper, etc. Think I should just get the big acrylic one and find a new home for my metal ones. Thank you for your lively videos! I always look forward to each of them and learn something new every time. Hugs!
@@2lilowlsstudio I've been following her for quite some time. Wish I could've gone to the Portugal retreat she is currently at. A Wandering Woman retreat is on my bucket list.
Wow amazing haul. I particularly liked the journaling subscription box especially the journals. They are so beautiful. I don't think the Kuratake granulating set can be bought in UK yet. The stencils are beautiful.
Thanks for sharing all the goodies. I have been resisting the big dual edge ripper but I may have to cave. I was in my studio the other day realizing that it would be a big mistake if I was ever attacked in there because there is a 'weapon' within reach regardless of where I am. 🤣
Thank you so much for your book recommendations. I saw the Antone video too! My set of granulating Kuretake arrived yesterday. Now I have your first take on them. I am so excited to try them out.
I always get myself in trouble after watching your art hauls LOL At least for now they are just in my 'wish-list'... but my bday is next Friday, so ... SOMETHING will make it to my 'itchy hands' BAHAHAHA
That journal box is gorgeous!!! Great for artists not just journallers. Those inks & journals are sooooo pretty! And the deckled edge pages look like watercolour paper - are they? Definitely great value box
Love these art supply videos. I have the art philosophy watercolors. You have to check out Art Philosophy in the Pastel Dreams color. They are gorgeous. These watercolors are so cool. I loved the Kuretake Gansai granulation colors you showed us. Thanks Denise. Have a great weekend.😊
What a great haul! I’ve been watching the videos on the new Kuretake watercolors for the past month and have been resisting purchasing them. I have so many watercolors. When they stop predicting rain, I will order Creative abstract watercolor through your link. I’ve been following Shawn for years. I consider her a master of art materials. She is so talented in so many ways.
I had some good finds this month! You'll love that book when you get it. So glad I watched that video Shawn did - I really love her selection of stencils! So glad you enjoyed this one! Thank you! 🥰
Hi Denise, Great art haul review, as always. I used to live in France, so thought I’d just let you know that the Sennelier River Gauche ( it means Left Bank) is actually an oil paint, not a gouache. Hopefully, it will still be useful!! Very best wishes Judith
Someone mentioned that - I’ll have to look at that again, I use oil paint with cold wax - so I’ll have to move those over to my oil paint stash! Thank you! 🥰
Thanks for the demo Denise. I saw another review of the Kuretake granulating paints and thought ‘meh’. The one you did on the board was more vivid but you did go back in and add paint right from the pans. Looking forward to seeing if you can make them shine though! As someone else commented, seeing what they will do with the graphite paints would be awesome!
The acrylograph pens? Those are only available from archer and olive - the people who make them. I link their site in the description along with everything else I show.
OMG....I have that same rip ruler and I am TERRIFIED of it! I see blood in my future. I loved that big rip ruler of yours but it is a bit spendy. That being said, how much is keeping my fingers in their rightful place on my hand worth? 🤣
I was thinking about annual skillshare but can’t find info about other costs. Do I just pay the annual subscription or do I have to pay for the yearly subscription plus a price for each course/vide as well?x
There isn’t any other costs. You become a member and you have access to any classes on their site. They do offer additional programs with some teachers for 1 on 1 sessions if you are interested - and those do have a fee. I don’t offer any of those myself. All of my classes would be included in that regular membership. 😊
I have to stop watching your art hauls. You keepi showing us all this good stuff and costing me MONEY!!! I love that Creative Abstract Watercolor book and the Kuretake granulating watercolours! ARGH. By the way, "Rive Gauche" is the artsy area south of the river Seine in Paris, pronouced "REEVE GOH-sh." This isn't gouache paint - it's an oil paint. I don't think you paint in oils, do you? I just recently started trying gouache, and I really like what it can do too. And I borrowed Anne Blockley's watercolour books from the library and she mentioned that she uses white gouache with her watercolours, so I'm going to try that. Mostly I paint in acrylics and oil, but watching you I have started to collect watercolour paints and experiment (more money, Denise! All because of you! LOL!) and really love the whimsical nature and fluidity of watercolours!
I go in and out of working with oil paint. Mostly oil and cold wax. I have a few classes on that. I love it. I definitely had some good stuff this month! Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you! 🥰
@@2lilowlsstudio Oh great - then you CAN use the oil. I like using galkyd gel with oil vs cold wax medium. It's just easier to mix, and I'm so darned impatient. It's what's great about acrylics - paint for the impatient! Okay, I'm off to order that darn book. :-( LOL.
