There are some extremely good quality-of-life improvements in this version. Platform detection seems way better, the music keeps playing unless there's a game over, some sound effects were added, and so on. It's really good stuff! And of course, this run was really great! You could practically do it on Impossible!

The game developer says "I don't use other brands in a very forward manner. If you name a game like it's a sequel to popular IP, lawyers notice. If you include an asset somewhere? No one cares unless it's a sound that can be picked up by a content detector, and even it's usually only to identitfy their own games. So while they have the ability to DMCA me, IWBTG borrows stuff lawyers don't care about and kinda falls under the radar. Remember, companies care about BRANDS not assets."
Two methods: I mostly tense up my forearm and vibrate it on the key for 10-12 shots per second. The other method is to flutter click the button with two fingers. Either way it's pretty hard, but at least flutter clicking is easier on the body.
When you jump down, rub up against the right side as you are falling. Then wait to hold left until you touch the ground. Then boom, you will go through the spike wall.

There is probably stuff I'm missing, but its pretty clear that the remaster is the best way to experience the game.
Only two types of enemies don't kill you when you hit them. The cheep cheeps and the hawks (in graveyard). These two enemy types only push your character, usually into spikes or off the cart in the case of the cheep cheeps.
