When they say slaves or servants of a low status...well that can mean restaurant workers now, bartenders, maids, bellhops, people washing cars, etc.

Can someone actually describe the objects in the room, or all we get is a 20 second pan? Like really?

I needs answers 😂 the brick work on the walls are in Xs, I want to know more info on this roman style because I'm building a replica of these houses, and I know they are sometimes false facades, then sometimes longer bricks that are placed into a wall like wedges with mortar, or just faked with concrete, but the final finish was very important to them back then, so they had 5 layers before the finish layer it's so amazing the patience of them

“Slaves OR servants”… that was my first thought..how do they know the people who lived here were slaves? Seems they assumed since the conditons were bad, but even today low status workers can be boarded up in poor conditions, certainly doesn’t make them slaves, what a stupid assumption. Yet all headlines are saying “slave room” lol

It was part of a larger private home, and you wouldn't normally keep manual workers living at your home, would you? In antiquity slave labour was widespread and cheap, so "servants" living at a residence of some well-established people are near certain to have been slaves if they had a bedroom of their own.

I wish they wouldn't keep saying that they were buried under lava... the burial was by lapilli ( volcanic ash)
