    You guys gotta keep the bottles hidden from each other until after the decision on the favorite. THEN reveal the bottles

    • @MISTAJZA
      @MISTAJZA Год назад +2

      Yeah I agree, the contenders are all going to be well known bottles where they’re familiar with what each should taste like, so yeah the extra level of blindness is ideal.

  • @MISTAJZA
    @MISTAJZA Год назад +4

    I feel like 100-107 proof should be it’s own weight class, then 108-120, then 120+. All the bottled in bonds would compete against each other, then all the cask strength/full proof/barrel strength/etc would all compete against each other, then all the hazmat stuff. The way it is now, something like EHT SmB (4y) could be put up against ECBP (12y), which is too wide a difference imo. Definitely a great series idea though, will be watching them all 🍿

    Great blind flight guys, no surprise to me that Weller FP won.
    Hmm more contenders for the Middleweight belt I’d say OF 1920, Smoke Wagon Uncut / Unfiltered, Remus Repeal, Cream of Kentucky, Bardstown Discovery, Still Austin Cask Strength.

    What do you guys think about doing them blind before showing what you picked? That way you’re not looking for those flavors you know.

    Dutch and Jules both chose "their bottle", as the last place. I still feel like doing this semi-double-blind (not revealing to each other which bottle you brought), would allow more transparency in the tasting - as you wouldn't be able to guess the bottle.

    I feel two seconds and a third trumps a first and two thirds. Maker's for second place.

    For an everyday drinking contender id go with 1920...for something a bit more rare, Doc Swinsons Exploratory Cask 15 year.

    Pick Seagrass for Dillion!
    We all want another Apricot rant!
    I would recommend Smoke Wagon UCUF or Belle Meade Reserve
    Side note- 100-119 is tough. So many good 100proofs that just aren’t going to stand out against the 115+ - need a Strictly 100/101 proof weight class

    Hmmm I am protesting this tasting. A store pick that is more accessible for 300 vs retail. and 2 bottles that can be easily found. I say this as a Weller FP barrel pick from a resturant in Savannah is one of my favorite all time pours.

    That Maker's 46 CS would have been my only suggestion in this weight class (proof). I haven't tried that much Bourbon, and that one was by far my favorite.
    For Heavyweight (proof), I was wondering if JD counts as Bourbon? Yesterday I opened up my second bottle of a certain JD product, and was reminded just how much I love it. It might even be my favorite whiskey that I've ever tried.

    I really like this format, please do with scotch :) really good, only thing maybe go in blind like not knowing the others? But either way I really like this series. I’m gonna start doing this with my buddies

    Absolutely love the format, whether seeing the bottles beforehand or not. I was curious from the beginning at what point you would realize that full proof is over middleweight, but it just never happened 🤷‍♂️

    • @CuriosityPublic

      Thanks! The Weller Full Proof is only 114 proof, so it fits in the middleweight field (100-119)

    Put up Larceny BP or a Rebel cask strength against the Weller FP. Your guys’ results were interesting too bc Stuff and Whiskey also picked Weller FP over Makers 46CS in a blind.

    Great series guys. It’s so interesting how much things change over a bit of time and when put against other bourbons. Makes it hard to pick a fav! Stagg Jr. would dethrone WFP.

    Throw 2022 woodford batch proof in the mix

  • @Robert.Sheard

    You Do have a second place because two of the three of you preferred the green. Even though both scores are 7 points, 2 of 3 judges preferred green so that's 2nd place. It always pays to have an odd number of judges because then judge preference can serve as the tie-breaker.

  • @cjmixer99

    Fun series! Love the format. However I think each bottle should be the standard offering, and not a store pick. That would give the competition a level playing field. A store pick could be a honey barrel, and give an unfair advantage. Out of public curiosity (see what I did there???)… which store pick was the Weller FP? Nice video guys! Cheers

    So you're saying Rare Breed is the winner? Because i have a giant, obnoxious LOL for anyone who sees this and thinks "ok, let's try Weller Full Proof then."
    Gonna be hard to beat that one in that proof bracket, honestly. My pick to do it would've been the WT. I might've gone RRSiB over Rare Breed, but same zone.

    Great format. Unfortunately you picked a bottle that is literally unobtanium in my area. I have never seen a bottle of Weller FP in the wild here, even going back toe the pre-boom days. I am curious how Knob Creek would do but unfortunately the base expression gives up 14 proof points to the Weller FP (and the 120 proof ends up in the heavy weight category).

    Love the video and format, but disappointed since Weller Full Proof might as well be a white elephant. I have never seen a bottle and secondary is just stupid. I do love Makers 46 CS. Even Rare Breed and the 46CS can be challenging to find at times. My vote for next round is Old Forester 1920. It is $%$#%#@ scrumptious.
