      any of this will work:
      2) Samsung 980 Pro SSD 2TB M.2 NVMe PCI Express 4.0
      3) Samsung 990 PRO SSD 2TB M.2 NVMe PCI Epress 4.0
i would personally go with this:

      cheaper same performance and durability.

and there you should see the new drive in there, and if you see it as a Black bar on top of it and not blue. that means it is not partitioned, right click on the black bar and create new partition and name it and at the end it will automatically will show up in your computer. now if you don't see the drive in "Disk management" then you got a defective drive or didn't install it properly.

I have a question: is there a way to dictate which files get saved to which SSD now that there are two of them? For example I want to keep all my games on one SSD, and all my other information on the other. Since a lot of times downloads of new data are automatic, is there a way to dictate where each new download file/app/game/etc gets downloaded to (so like a way to have a window pop up and ask where you want this item to be downloaded to)? I know you can’t store 50% of one item on one SSD, and the other 50% on the other SSD it has to be one or the other; I just want to know if there is a way to dictate where each download goes to.

regarding your question: hi, if you have two ssd in your laptop i always recommend to create a folder on the 2nd ssd (that has no windows) and call it "C" and inside that folder create 6 Folders with following names: imgur.com/a/oCVM5ll
now you want to open file explorer (WIN+E) and open another file explorer (WIN+E) and place them side by side. then you want to right click on the original Desktop ... documents.. etc and go properties> then go to location tab, then click move and choose the folder you created according to the name for the folder on empty ssd. imgur.com/a/vXd2mHE
after doing this what ever you place as you do normally on your desktop downloads it goes automatically to the other SSD. you can create a another folder for your steam folders

If I have one SSD installed with speed let's say 7000mb/s and I install a second SSD on second slot with speed more than the first, let's suppose 15,000mb/s. What is the performance in this occasion? Does it stay 7000, or 15000?

    • @uFixTek
      @uFixTek  Год назад +3

Thank you for your valuable feedback! If you enjoy the content, supporting the channel by liking and subscribing would be greatly appreciated.
Regarding your question, it's important to be cautious about falling for the marketing hype surrounding SSD speeds. There are a few important factors to consider, and it's essential to understand how the speeds are measured.
Most SSDs advertise their peak file transfer speeds, but it's worth noting that these speeds are not necessarily sustained during regular usage. Additionally, it's crucial to be aware that the advertised speeds are achievable when transferring files between two SSDs with the same specifications. If you have your operating system (OS) installed on the first SSD, the file transfer speed may be lower because the OS is actively using the drive.
For example, let's say you have an SSD with a write speed of 7000MB/s and then install a second SSD with a write speed of 15000MB/s. In this scenario, the file transfer between the two drives would be limited to the speed of the slower SSD. It's also important to keep in mind that the maximum speed benefits are typically seen when moving around large single files.
Extensive testing has shown that simply upgrading to a higher-speed SSD does not necessarily result in improved system or program performance (e.g., reduced loading times) because operating systems and programs are composed of numerous small micro files rather than single large files. It's worth noting that in addition to the considerations mentioned above, it's crucial to have the latest drivers for your SSD and motherboard chipset installed, such as rapid storage drivers.
I hope this explanation clarifies the important aspects of SSDs. If you have any further questions or requests in the future, please don't hesitate to ask.

Hey, I just grabbed this laptop yesterday. Popped in my 2tb nvme drive from my previous asus rog laptop, the bios shows “incomplete optane volume”
It use to be the C: in my other laptop that died… how can I get it to work? The only option I see is reset to non-optane but that’ll delete the drive, I have 600gb worth of stuff on it that I need so I can’t let the bios delete it… how can I get this drive working without deleting it

regarding your question: you 1st need to extract the files (data) that you value much to main ssd or any other source to do that you will need this:
      a good Enclosure: amzn.to/39OS1E4
then use it as external like usb and once plunged in as usb then go to the drive and go to user folder directory and then to the user folder and it will ask you to over write user permission and you have yo accept it and let it run for 30 min or so till it gets permission for all your files. DO NOT disconnect during the permission over write. once you the user folder copy all the files that you need to main ssd or another external for temporal, then format the 2tb nvme and plug it in the m.2 slot in the laptop and you se to go.

@@uFixTek thanks a lot just before you posted a reply I ordered a m2 external case that’s thunderbolt
I’m just going to copy the stuff I want from it and put it in one of my kid’s computers b/c I realized it’s a pcie3 drive vs the current pcie4s that have 65-7000read and write speeds… I’m not slowing down an i9 12900 with that old drive… don’t know what I was thinking like I’m not a MCSE, CCNP 😂

the main ssd that you have its gen 4 and you have windows there, and if you place the gen 3 nvme on the other slot it won't affect the windows or any thing on performance, its compatible and it will work as extra storage and as gen3 speed that its more than fine,

regarding your question: Did you get a NVME? it take NVME. if you don't see it in disk management then its defective or its not installed properly, take it out and re insert it. there is no drive needed the disk management should grab it without any issue. i recommend highly get a Samsung brand they are very solid and last longer, : amzn.to/3BdVntY
