    February...that one was hard for me! And I didn't even know that I was pronouncing it incorrectly.

      That's because you weren't pronouncing it incorrectly. You don't have to drop the R. It's more common to say it without the R, but to say that pronouncing it with the R is wrong is nonsense. It is the older, but still viable, pronunciation.

      U can pronounce it with the r. Dropping the r is actually incorrect and is colloquial. Im a native american also haha and it bothers me when people drop the r

    Vanessa's pronunciation is perfect.that's not what you will get out there. Different countries or different regions, different accents and pronunciation. Great lesson.

    I came here because of my activity to find mispronounced words and to pronounce them correctly. CLOTHES is too difficult for me to pronounce. Our teacher told us that it pronounce as "CLOZ". I have learned a lot watching this video. Thank you❤️

    English is my first language - and I lived in various parts of the UK for 35 years - February was always spoken with an 'r' . It was not silent !

      No it’s not arrogant. It’s simply the way the language is spoken in US. She never claimed it’s global standard.

    Great lesson with lots of new words for me. Totally new the word subtle and its " not clear" meaning, I found the receipt pronunciation a bit hard to keep in mind. Thank you Vanessa for your incredible energy

    I misspronounced "February" because I pronounced it almost the same as Spanish "Febrero", adding that first "r" omg!! So thanks a lot for the lesson. I can't believe I was misspronouncing it all my life 🤦‍♀️. Love your videos ❤. Best teacher ever ❣

      I used to pronounce it " fébruari" because l was mistaught in my english classes at school. Even more, l never heard someone pronouncing this word correctly before.

    I also found a word that is quite strange in pronunciation, it's "bury" which is pronounced /be-ri/

      You're right, it doesn't look like how it sounds!

      Both are fine. You'll find that it changes with the location of the speaker. 'Bur-ri' and 'be-ri' are the two ways that you can say this. 'Be-ri' is the most common way, especially when adding an -ed to the end. Most English-speakers should understand you regardless.

    First of all, i cannot thank you enough for making this lovely video, i really apretiate what you are doing. I think the difficult words for me was february and jewelry because of my wrongly pronouncation and also i feel like it is difficult to my tounge to pronounce it 👍

    The word that I've pronounced differently is "receipt". I used to say "ri-seet" rather than "ra-seet"

    Great video Vanessa :). I hear 'cloe-thez' SO often. Another really common similar mistake is 'months'. A lot of students pronounce it 'mun-thez'. Your explanation here is really clear and I think it'll help some of my beginner students. Thanks! 👍😁

    Thanks to you, finally I learned the correct pronounciation of those words, you're so charismatic. For me the most unexpected pronounce was the word subtle.
    I have also difficulties with the following words
    Suite, sword, world, subtitle, schedule among others(the list is long)😊

    Only receipt's pronounciation was new to me cuz i was pronouncing it as ra-cipt earlier.

      The word receipt i pronounce ri-'sit but ra-sii sounds texas accent i am not sure. Februaries ( plural ) .i am from florida.

    For the Receipt, I used to pronounce it as "ri-seet" instead of "ra-seet". And I think both are acceptable since in UK they pronounce it as "ri-seet" similar with Often.

    The pronunciation of "hEIght" remembers the "ei" sound in german
