Punk and many viewers here are experienced with turkeys. I want some, but i have yet to pull that trigger. I tried once to get royal palms(all the feed store could order at the time), but my local feed store couldn't even get them. I'm glad. Wasn't ready. What kind of housing/fencing would you set up for some bourbon reds if you were starting from scratch? I kind of want them mobil on our small acreage, but i dont want them to take off to the woods and make coyote dinner.

Yeah, they are wild and take quite a bit of effort to coop train. I still knock turkeys off the roof almost every night. You can definitely start with mobile/tractor style (with roosts as high as you can get them), then make a run for them as they grow and need more space. Once they get older, they actually prefer not to fly, so they do somewhat respect the fences (except at night when their instinct to roost up high takes over). Though I can usually intercept them and walk them into the coop if I time it right. They don't really wander too far though. If you get em while they're little, they'll imprint on you and not want to leave home.
