Didn't even think that those high lights would be MARS lights on a Vermont loco so this is neat to find out. Plus that K5 horn has been recycled to the newer 40s I bet...maybe 302 possibly because one of em has a horn sounding very similar at that. So cool to see how it used to be and thanks for the postings!
Very nicely done! I've seen in the 1850 in Phillipsburg, NJ before. Had an old steam engine bell just like this one... very cool indeed. And the mars-light is pretty cool in itself!
Excellent video. I live in Texas, born in Wisconsin, and miss these trains. In Texas there is nothing to compare with the beautiful scenery that surrounds towns like in the New England area. No matter the season. Would love to see this video and others on the market for sale to the public. It is priceless and would be worth every penny.
Hi Craig, this was a great trip for Moose and I it was the first Green Mtn Vid I did I think? The day before it was like -5 degrees !!! this day it was a balmy 30-35 degrees !! At the beginning leaving Bellows Falls you can hear my camera shutter going off like crazy ! Lol This GP-9 was really neat , it was an Classy ex "Northern Pacific" unit (#223) with the high side mounted Polished bell and cool "Mars" head lights and "Torpedo Boat" air tanks ! she was built in June 1955. Probably the best looking GP-9 in New England at that time !! Moose did a lot of freeze frame shots back then to help modelers ! Great stuff Thanks Craig, this was one of many I lost in a flooded basement !!!
Always enjoy watching these videos, so many extras that I love seeing. Is that a derailer hanging down by the rear trucks on 1849? And look they have an EOT light that works!!
just... WOW! Thanks to whoever had the foresight to shoot this video! Looks like the engine is set up for steam. (HEP) Was this loco used in passenger service as well?
Awesome old film; still great to watch more than twenty years later. Thanks for sharing!

Another fine video....remember seeing the engine may 1994 going thru Chester Depot heading north with two cars. Keep the vintage videos coming!

Yes Gary it is, I think they still run a turn to Rutland daily...very scenic and the pull on Mt.Holly is pretty good with a big train, Craig
Hi Steve, Ive got one coming up with a C&P SW1500 and a couple of track speeders in Rutland from the same trip, Craig
I gotta get back to doing videos like Mr. Ouellette did..plain, simple and to the point!
That old high hood is probably razor blades by now
What kind of Horn is on 1849
AllertorSiren05 sounds like an old cast p5.
@@NorthEasternMotionProductions That's exactly what it was. An old cast Nathan P5. And a nice sounding one, too.
