    I started with 2 rows of hygge, then moved on to hygge fur, increasing 1st every 15 sts - when it was long enough i moved back to hygge, decreasing every 15 sts and worked till i got the right measurement. It was easy, then, to sew the ends together in hygge. Thanks, Marly, you are a sweetheart, very patient teacher, and very encouraging. i love your videos.

    Hmmm, I might even consider a crochet slip stitch to do the final join...
    What a lovely project. Thank you, Marly!

      That’s a good idea too! Didn’t want to scare those knitters with a crochet hook. Lol 😂

    I have never had the desire to work with "fur" yarn, it always looks like a pain, but.... that looks sooo warm and comfy, I may have to try!

    Great idea. I'd absolutely want the inner contrasting fur to be visible on the front at the top AND bottom, so I'd knit the inner fur cowl longer and then seam. (As a more experienced knitter, I'd do a provisional cast-on, and graft live stitches together rather than binding off and then seaming. Definitely a common sense pattern modification for more experienced knitters.)

    Beautiful piece. I've never used this yarn before and this would be a perfect project to experiment with it. Thank you.

    I wish they still made the Hygge yarns. I wonder what other yarns would do?

    Thank you Marly for such a nice piece.
    I saw other videos about how to knit in a round and a few of them mentioned that the most important thing is not getting the stitches twisted to start off with.....I find it extremely hard to tell with the fur yarn....

    I wonder if a provisional cast on would work?

    • @MarlyBird
      @MarlyBird  5 лет назад +1

      I thought of that but you would still have to seam it.

      Couldn’t you just pick up the STS from the provisional CO on to another set of needles and then do a 3 needle BO?

      @@Angellove878 This is what I was thinking. Unless there is a way to decrease stitches in a Kitchener graft? I'm not sure I've ever seen that kind of technique.

      I was thinking provisional cast on and then Kitchner the 2 yarns together at the end all while doing a reverse decrease. That is every 15 stitches grab 2 fur stitches to perform the Kitchner stitch? I’ve never Kitchener a tube tho.

    Love this pattern, and the whole time I was thinking why not just transition from the larger needles to the smaller size when changing the color, and if your using needles that you just twist off the cord then the transition is even easier. I’m all about finding a way to make it easier. I love the thought of exposing the fur to the outside and therefore hiding your seam line, plus I think it would feel really soft to your neck.

    Made it already its super warm and lush i just carried on with the fur lining instead of casting off

    Maybe, if you did a provisional cast on, you coud kitchener-stich it together in the end and it would be invisible...

    • @MarlyBird
      @MarlyBird  5 лет назад

      Yes. I thought about that too and if it was a more advanced pattern would have done that. But I tried to keep it simple enough for new knitters time try :)

    Could you do a tutorial of this in crochet.

    • @aidahartmann3473

      Marlene Morris, one could probably do something like this, yarn on outside and fur on inside, in crochet. However, the stitches would be different, therefore the appearance and weight/feel would be different. Crochet stitches use more yarn than knit stitches. The gauge would be very different too.

    Would a double knitting stitch work for this cowl?

    Marly bird -
    Would it be possible to do a provisionL canton and then just knit the cowel and then undo the provisionl cast on and then do a 3 needle bind off? I'm thinking that be the easiest way to do the cowel if it would work?
