The kind of physicality Ohio State showed on Saturday is exactly why they should be viewed as more formidable contenders than they were thought to be going in. 6 points allowed on defense and a dominant 5-minute offensive drive to close the game. That’s championship football.
@@Freerider93 it was a fairly even game. I don’t think Oregon wins if they are at Columbus. I don’t know who wins on neutral field. I don’t think OSU can win the title but that is due to injuries and Day’s poor coaching staff.
Colin has some truly abysmal takes. You watch two teams play, OSU goes on the road against Oregon. OSU leads most of the game, was in position to kick a game winning field goal and a terrible call moves then out. They end up losing by 1 on the road in a game they turned the ball over multiple times in and your take away is one team is not a contender and the other is the clear favorite to win the title? There is virtually no separation between the teams. Unless this guy thinks there is only a favorite and no contenders this is idiocy.
Let alone a 1 in a billion freak kickoff play that literally gave them Oregon an extra possession. If that game is neutral site or in Columbus im not convinced it might not be completely different. Could be wrong though.
Ohio St had one of the hardest 3 week stretches possible in CFB. Two top 5 matchups on the road in 2 of the hardest places to play. Going 1-1 and only losing to Oregon by a point is pretty impressive. If they went 2-0 they’d basically have a national championship appearance locked up.
Colin is a typical California fair weather sports fan in regards to college football. When USC is relevant, you can tell how much more he actually pays attention to college football as his takes on the sport are way better. When USC is ass, get ready for the most laughably bad takes you will ever hear that even casual college football fans know are a complete joke
OSU is better than Oregon. There were multiple opportunities to not only win their matchup, BUT to go ahead by 10+ points. As a buckeye fan, we are our own worst enemy. If they play well and waste no plays going forward ITS A WRAP 🏆 Oregon can’t say the same.
No ur not and that’s just ur fan bias talking. Oregon is significantly better than Ohio state and much better coached. They didn’t have their best pass rusher and the receiver who just put up 150 yard this weekend got ejected in the first quarter. You guys lose to Oregon 3 times this year
I figured people would be down on OSU even though they won. As long as OSU wins out and goes to the big ten championship they make the playoff. USC with Lincoln Riley is in serious trouble. I remember Orgeron saying that at USC they only recruited 5 starts out of state because they had all the recruits in their backyard so if they can’t recruit Cali then he’s done.
Here is a well-known poem by Grantland Rice that encapsulates the spirit of sportsmanship and the essence of playing the game well, regardless of the outcome: **Alumnus Football** *Bill Jones had been the shining star upon his college team; His tackling was ferocious and his bucking had the steam, The coaches were unanimous in certifying that He crossed the line in every scrimmage for the touchdown flat.* *But likewise he had been, alas, the terror of the town, For in no game had he played clean, but fouled 'em up and down; He'd slugged and scratched and bit and kicked and gouged and gouged some more, And what he did in every game was just what he'd done before.* *The day when Bill was graduated and he got his sheepskin, He had a talk with "Daddy" Warren, who had always been His friend, and who had often seen him play his dirty tricks And cautioned him against them, not a dozen times, but six.* *"Bill Jones," he said, "I've watched you play, and you've been working hard, But you have played with too much hate, and you've been hitting hard. I'm sorry, boy, but you must learn: The game is more than fame, The point is not to win or lose, but how you play the game."* *"You've played with viciousness and spite, and you've been hard and rough, But life has more to offer than a touchdown or a bluff. Remember, Bill, that in the race of life, the thing that counts Is not the laurels that you win, but how you play your rounds."* *So Bill went out, and years went by, and Bill got fat and old; But he had learned his lesson, and in sports, he played it bold. He played with spirit, sportsmanship, and never had a fight, And he was loved by all his friends for how he played his fight.* *He played the game with heart and soul, but no more did he strive For victory alone, but rather, how he kept alive The spirit of the game, and that's what counts, for as he said, "It's not the winning or the losing, but how you play instead."* This poem reflects Grantland Rice's philosophy that the true measure of success in sports, and indeed in life, lies not in the victory itself but in the integrity and spirit with which one engages in the contest. USC best year yet
As an OSU fan, Will Howard is not perfect by any means and makes me nervous, but he was playing outside of himself coming back to his home state and that obviously won’t be a scenario we’ll see again. He played good at Oregon and just about any other QB would have made the same mistakes he did in that wonky last minute, in that environment. We did leave points on the board at PSU, but if anything that should be scary for the rest of our opponents - not the other way around as he is framing it.
Ohio State lost by one second to Oregon on the road at night 3 time zones away from their home stadium and had a bad day against Nebraska trying to replace a first round left tackle and then they moved guys around and absolutely dominated Penn State’s defensive front which is a top 5 unit in the country. If Will Howard limits the turnovers Ohio State will win the national championship easily.
Yes, Oregon has elite NIL money, but I am tired of people saying that is the only reason recruits are going there. 1. Recruits want to play for Dan Lanning 2. Recruits believe Oregon can develop them into NFL players (that’s where the real money is) 3. Oregon is innovative and has a good culture 4. Oregon is the most successful PAC 12 program since the SC Carrol era (2010). It is the most relevant program for these recruits in their lifetimes on the west coast. It’s not just about NIL and uniforms! Go deeper.
Remember Colin’s take immediately after Oregon beat Ohio State? He claimed at the time that despite the loss, he still gave Texas and Ohio State their own elite tier while lumping Oregon in with a handful of tier 2 teams whom he claimed were good enough to be competitive against anyone, but claimed Ohio State and Texas were “elite” 😂
I don’t understand why Penn State cannot or will not get a top flight QB. You will get the same results every year. You watch Miami they are so QB centric. Without Ward, that team is average. Go get a QB if you want change.
@ He did last year against Oregon. Oregon actually had one of the better D-lines last year. He was playing with little old Washington State. There will not a defensive line better than Oregon had last year. He’ll be find. He’s been that way since he’s been in college, he’s keeps having to prove himself. Now he’s playing with talented receivers. I don’t like Miami’s defense. He’s slot receiver is unguardable.
Colin has OSU hate because it gets clicks. Don’t fall for the narrative. Bucks have the largest fan base in the country and he gets clicks. Howard is fine, Oline is injured but coming together. Defense is solid. Buckeyes will beat Oregon in he next matchup.
