Episode 1: Slow, unfolding plot Episode 2: Building things up Episode 3: Pure Awesome Episode 4: Slow, unfolding plot Episode 5: Building things up Episode 6: Will be awesome
If nothing else, this show is a success for making a single TIE fighter seem menacing. In space battles they seem like insignificant pests, but from the ground, they really are scary.
Karn continues to be a relatable character. He basically lives with his mom who berates him while eating cereal during the day. He’s a villain but he’s not a “bad guy”
I think what you're trying to say is he's an antagonist but he's not a villain. Villains are motivated by evil, while antagonists are just working against the protagonist.
I know I said this on Twitter, but: “Everybody has their own rebellion” may be the thesis of the show & is rightly getting the shine in this ep, but “The axe forgets & the tree remembers” is my absolute favorite line in Star Wars history. I mean ever. In any medium. Ever.
Great line but my favorite line will always be “So this is how liberty dies…with thunderous applause". Brilliant line with a ton of meaning behind it and unfortunately it can be applied to our own reality on many occasions. The prequels have a lot of issues and so much silliness but this line hit me like a ton of bricks.
I always took imperial TIE pilots more seriously than the box standard Stormtroopers, but I'm glad that this show made it a point to make the TIE fighters themselves far more intimidating
20:50 In defence of Mon MothPA, it was established last episode that Mon MothMA's driver is new, with a heavy implication that her drivers being replaced is a somewhat regular occurrence. Also I would assume that her driver is a senatorial perk and not necessarily something for the whole family's casual use. Like I doubt Mon MothDAUGTHER can just use them for a trip down to the local mall or whatnot. So it kinda stands to reasons that Mon MothPA stopped bothering to 100% remember their names.
I'm going to toss out this thought about Vel - that's Luthen's daughter. The way he talked to her and snapped at her about paying attention and wanting to lead when he was dropping off Cassian sounded exactly like a dad talking to his kid and telling them what needed to be done if they really wanted to go through with their plans.
I reckon he'd be a little more worried about things going south if his daughter was involved tough. Now he's only worried about Cassian linking him to the heist.
@@Flippokid No, his assistant came in and mentioned Vel first, and he responded about having a second connection now, which would be Cassian. So he's got multiple connections to the heist now and that's when things start going south.
Last week Stellan Skarsgard yelled "LOOK AT ME" so hard it made me flinch and relive childhood trauma I didn't even know existed. 🤣 Felt like father-daughter to me.
Once again, my favorite moment in an overall strong episode is related to Karn. He sits in his old room, and then the sun shines in through his window. Some real daylight in an area of Coruscant that usually doesn't get any. It's only a few seconds before the sun vanishes behind the skyscrapers of the upper city, and the room is in the same twilight as before. It's just so depressing. This probably isn't even particular to the Imperial era. Who knows how many people lived inside these apartments during the Republic era, with the sun (and a better life...) being so close and yet so far away. :(
I've never watched the movie myself, but I'm really feeling the blade runner atmosphere that imperial Coruscant's giving off. That shot of Mon Mothma's speeder driving under the nighttime city lights was a vibe
@@jasonmarbach I'll see if I can find it on a streaming service I have. Is there a specific version you'd recommend for the first one? I know there are two or three cuts of the film but I'm not sure which one is generally considered the preferred version
@@wolfpack_104 The Final Cut is the best one, Director's cut is also pretty good. All you really need to know is if you start hearing Harrison Ford doing voice-over narration, turn it off immediately you are watching the bad version 😄
More Indiana Jones Easter Egg with the Temple of Doom Sankara Stones on the shelf being shown more clearly. Not sure if those are Holocrons, or Datacrons. Holcrons are usually smaller, but they are about the right size for a Datacron.
I stumbled upon his and Jyn’s death scene on RUclips last week and decided to rewatch it with a new perspective and it’s already so much sadder. Rogue One will be even more of a gun punch after the end of Andor.
Nerd chronic got this one out fast. Good job. Also I really like this rare artifact importer being a cover for a rebellion operative. It feels like classic spy cover to me. You have reason to be dealing in large amounts of money, to be traveling to off places in the galaxy at random times, and talking with lots of influential people.
LETS GO!!!!!! The lieutenant no doubt will be a major key player by next week as he's deep undercover within the empire's ranks, but the one moment that stood out to me is that Mon Mothma's determination to bring down the empire slowly.
I love your reactions. And your discussions because you always educate me. I've been a SW fan since seeing Empire in theaters. I don't know much beyond the movies and comic books though. I need to get into the animated universe. I loved the guy's story about his brother. Idk why but i got emotional when he answered, "Trees. Pepper trees. Centuries of them." And the end w/ the line of "by tomorrow it'll be over. Or just starting." CHILLS!!! Thanks guys! :)
3 episode arcs…set-up, back story/prep, action. It makes sense but (like you said) the episodes are so short I think someone could just watch the show every 3 weeks and treat each arc as a movie
I think using The Tie fighter flying over the group to show how small the rebellion's at this point is really neat storytelling. When Opposed to the Tie fighter's is first seen in Star Wars it's described as "small" by Obie Wan, then Han chases until he is snagged by the Death Star's tractor beam. A New Hope makes the Tie look week and Andor makes it look unformidable. This shows the growth of the Rebels. Also The Millennium Falcon and Han Solo are bad ass. last part is a given. Thanks
23:25 I suspect that the Kyber crystal Luthen handed off to Cassian might be traceable. Perhaps its provenance can be tracked back to Luthen's gallery (or just to Luthen himself, if it is pertinent to his personal history).
I wonder if Mon Monthma was trying to take her daughter to a Charity Event and she just doesn`t care , just like her father ! Andor has become Syril Karn`s AX to his tree and the " Tree always remembers " . Syril Karn blames his whole misfortune on ANDOR and now he will seek revenge against him . Love Love Love Karis Nemik , i hope he does not die !
Go look at the trailers: Vel and Artha are both in the freighter Andor is flying. Also it looks like an Ardennian doctor (4 arms with the goggles and hypodermic) is operating on Nemek. He at least made it to the operating room!
@@Abi-chanFictionFan yes that happened but like 5 years earlier. It’s much more likely their referring to the rebels premiere as it happened in the same year as Andor.
The trailer from a couple months ago foretells at least a couple members of the team that appear to survive the mission--although one of them is clearly injured and getting worked on by that four-armed dude. I won't say which member that is, in case some want to be surprised by the scene.
Skeen (or whatever) is gonna sacrifice himself for the mission. Uncle Harlo is gonna get Syril a job at the ISB and he tells the blonde woman about Andor.
This why I like watching reaction channels. Completely missed the holocrons! Really liked this episode! You could feel the tension between the group when Andor came into the group or Clem…they are testing him! Also I felt the young guy reminded me of Tech! Hopefully the group survives the heist. I think they will have to chose between the payload to complete the heist or saving someone’s skin.
I know we still got 7 more episodes left. And there will be a season 2. I’m sure at some point we will see Cassian meet K-2SO. I’m also feeling we will lose most of the crew during the heist. Also we got Tales of the Jedi starting this month! Can’t wait for that too!
I was vrong about the blaster. Its not the one from ep1, its the one Andor got from Karn in ep3. It is going to bring Dedra to Karn and Karn probably got a good look at Luthan.
The outro music to this sounded a lot like Vengeance by Zack Hemsey. The first line is "before I die alone, let me have vengeance." I can't be the only one who feels that relation isn't a coincidence.
Skeen's gonna die saving Andor, Nemik's gonna get shot in the back, Taramyn's gonna blow himself up, Gorn's gonna stay undercover, Cinta and Vel are gonna get scared because all their friends are dead and Andor makes his way into the Rebellion as an actual member and not a mercenary. Those are just my predictions though.
Gilroy will cover only a year's time period in season1 and the time jumps for season 2 is for each arc to cover a year each and takes up to Rogue One time period.
I remember a rumor that Han Solo might appear in Boba Fett. But he didn't. Maybe Han Was suppose to be on Andor. As a smuggler. But it went inder the radar because there was little buzz for Andor.
It would be interesting if Karn's arc is that he becomes a bounty hunter. And I thought the same thing about the closing shot. Who does secret rebellion work by a window?! Luthen you getting lazy!
25:57 Right here is why I feel that you have people feeling Andor is too slow and boring and complaining. Gotten spoiled by Netflix and too used to the everything at once. Not complaining about you guys, you're fine. I just mean others that aren't just sitting back and absorbing how great Andor is without having it piled on them all at once. I love the slow pace. It lets me feel a part of this universe.
"Jakku - nice." NO ... Jakku - not nice; we _don't_ need reminders or references to ... *THAT!* 🤮 karn's mother: Anybody else getting Cid vibes from her when she talks? 🤔 Frankly, if I was Karn, even I might feel compelled to do her in! 😈 The Mothmas' Daughter: Typical film trope for teen characters; it seems even in a galaxy far far away, the minute a child's age gets the word 'teen' in it, they automatically hate their parents. 😄 Getting to the heist: I'm thinking about that shot in the trailers of what looks to be Imperial prisoners been put to work. I think there's a possibility that Andor is captured and ultimately finds hisself 'one of the team'. Eventually though, he'll find a way to escape and that could be the third or fourth arc of this season (third could be Andor sticking around and gathering all the information he can). Eh? Eh? 🤷♂ All in all, I'm damn impressed so far. Imagine if they'd put this amount of thought into the Young Lei- oops! - Kenobi series; what that could have been. 🤦♂
Fine episode, but I was hoping for a little bit more. It's taking too long, and in the first act I was all for it but now I'd like things to pick up speed. I like the character building but I feel in this episode more could have been accomplished in less time. But I could just be impatient in the promise of a heist.
This is a different point of view. And apologies for the comment length. I REALLY wanted to like Andor. I've been a Star Wars for 40 years and loved. The Mandalorian, Rogue One, Rebels, Clone Wars, Bad Batch, and Movies 1-6. For me, Andor is slow. Boring. Unneeded hiking. Few action sequences. Snail Pacing. Side characters (Luthen & Bix) more interesting than the star of the show. Dialogue that seems unimportant. (House of dragon manages lots of exposition. Good pace. Great storyline. Well written Not so Andor. Cassian said "I've been in this fight since I was 6 years old." Why didn't the show open with a showstopper? How bout six year old Cassian witnessing the execution of his parents. Sigh. Look. I don't need Lightsabers, space battles, the Force or Easter Eggs to enjoy SW. But where are the alien species? The interaction between the Empire and citizens? The weekly edge of your seat intrigue and action? How the hell is this Star Wars? Despite the fact that I HATED the Reva storyline; fundamentally disagreed that Obi-Wan would leave Luke and hated that Kenobi shat all over CANON, I tuned into The Kenobi every week because it was exciting and had a good balance of action, dialogue, character building, and pacing. So you see, I can be non-biased. In a recent intetview, Tony Gilroy said "I'm not a fan fan" of Star Wars. Why would anyone be hired on a SW Project thet didn't LOVE Star Wars?!? Because Kathleen Kennedy continues to hire little known and untested writers and showrunners who don't love Star Wars OR possess little knowledge of the Lore OR simply don't love & respect SW. The result is the shredding of SW Canon & Lore and the emasculation most male SW mcharacters. KK needs to go before she completely destroys George Lucas' Legacy: our beloved Star Wars franchise. But many believe it's already destroyed.
This show has been a slog to get through. I can't lie. This is the first Star Wars series where I actually find myself getting tired watching it. This last episode really didn't progress much at all, and that has become a theme here. Just bc there are 12 episodes, doesn't mean you bore us to death for the 1st 6 episodes. Though ep 4 wasn't bad. I mean what progression was there in this episode? They got from one spot of grass to another spot of grass with some bickering in between. And Mon Mothma scenes were literally pointless. Very disappointed so far bc I've loved every series so far, even the Bobba one, so many complained about. And they said that was slow lol
Its just not everyone's type of show. People saying the same thing with Bladerunner since the pacing is slow. Your taste is probably for shows that are more fast pace and more action. They warned people before that this show won't be for everyone but one thing for sure is the writing seems to be miles better than other Star Wars shows/movies so far maybe surpassing or on par with Mando.
I can agree that it's slow moving but I haven't found any of these episodes 'boring.' Just because we aren't getting shootouts and speeder chases doesn't mean the episodes aren't interesting in other ways. It's all about the characters
There is absolutely nothing boring in any of these eps. They’re some of the most tense and suspenseful installments of any Star Wars property ever. If it isn’t for you, that’s fine, but if you haven’t enjoyed these eps, the fault probably doesn’t lie with the show. You might be happier moving on to another program.
@@KyleKatarnChannel I think you might agree with me that Faster, More intense, doesn't always equal good, just as slower, more calm doesn't always equal boring.
There was tons of great character development and dialogue plus building the tension and sense of dread. This is the best star wars anything I've seen imo
*-* at some point / / (please forgive the inevitable fact that this is mere repetition) \ \ a slight Gary Sinise resemblance 'appears' ~ as the goatee is briefly clutched *~* great discussions throughout , cheers. (what a triumph this 1st season IS) .Witwer ShoreTrooper. the undErvaLued cLinchEr

Seeing Syril Karn's mom explains SO much about why his character is the way he is.
Yeah, I've started calling him Rimmer. He seems to be consumed by self-loathing and a desperate desire to please.

They were always about shock and awe to the civilians. They're literally like screaming banshees.

"Jakku - nice." NO ... Jakku - not nice; we _don't_ need reminders or references to ... *THAT!* 🤮
karn's mother: Anybody else getting Cid vibes from her when she talks? 🤔 Frankly, if I was Karn, even I might feel compelled to do her in! 😈
The Mothmas' Daughter: Typical film trope for teen characters; it seems even in a galaxy far far away, the minute a child's age gets the word 'teen' in it, they automatically hate their parents. 😄
Getting to the heist: I'm thinking about that shot in the trailers of what looks to be Imperial prisoners been put to work. I think there's a possibility that Andor is captured and ultimately finds hisself 'one of the team'. Eventually though, he'll find a way to escape and that could be the third or fourth arc of this season (third could be Andor sticking around and gathering all the information he can). Eh? Eh? 🤷♂
All in all, I'm damn impressed so far. Imagine if they'd put this amount of thought into the Young Lei- oops! - Kenobi series; what that could have been. 🤦♂
❤
Do it
Who else thinks Dedra is Andor's sister?
Fine episode, but I was hoping for a little bit more. It's taking too long, and in the first act I was all for it but now I'd like things to pick up speed. I like the character building but I feel in this episode more could have been accomplished in less time. But I could just be impatient in the promise of a heist.
Vel & Cassian will be the only survivors…I suspect Luthen Rael WAS Rael Aveross.
Vel better survive. And the kid. I can’t remember his name atm.

Well written
Not so Andor.
*-* at some point / / (please forgive the inevitable fact that this is mere repetition) \ \ a slight Gary Sinise resemblance 'appears' ~ as the goatee is briefly clutched
