Its planks like that guy in the car who would put you off motorcycles. I watched my freshly restored Triumph T90 disappearing into a ditch while i rolled down the road with a idiot like that. They didn't even stop and the police were worse than useless.
Beautiful motorbike Jay Leno said once someone went out in the morning on a Vincent Black Shadow and he covered 500 Miles before he had his breakfast that's how enjoy it was you are incredible machines👍

Yes Nice and easy to start is you use the method in the hand book, doping the valve lifter half way through the stroke, doesn't seem intuitive, but works, saves on the knees when they are on the way out, Yes the speedo fit's on with relevant bracket, i made my bracket, nice and easy and saves a few bob. Different to other brit bikes, just in a different league, YB

@@yorkshirebiker1293 Ha ha, that takes me back. The wee brown envelope even had coins in it too, and a big chunk of the contents had to go to mum. Or that was what dad thought, if you were a lowly apprentice and had a great mum! Cash used to be worth a discount. Now it just invites suspicion.

I often use that garage on the way back from Squires on my Vincent, which also has a transition model engine, although the chassis is a 1953. Your forks seem to be hardly moving at all in the video. Never taken those back lanes, I shall have to check them out.
@@yorkshirebiker1293 well from a former Yorkshire Biker all i can say is i enjoy it aswell never rode a vinnie but rode a bonnie with an offset crank that was a revelation
@@yorkshirebiker1293 I was out in aus in 2000 visiting relatives, in Sydney the guy was called Ray Burns he was a local engineer and bike nut, he customised and altered all sorts of old Brit bikes and this Bonnie was his piece de resistance, i begged a ride having ridden loads of bonnies couldn't believe this thing, felt like a moto guzzi V500 i had a ride on if only the British engine designers had gone down this route
@@martinburke362 I new they did it on the commando's with the bolt up crank but not come across it on the Triumph's. I would have jumped at the chance to get a leg over that, Must have been a nice experience 👍👌
Cheapest they've been for years look at the Bonhams sale for back end of April. Got to admit they are nice power delivery is totally different to the other bikes i have YB
My Dad had one imported from new, 500 pounds back then, the Shadow was 50 quid more in Australia at the time, I said why didn't you buy the Shadow, he said I could just afford the money for the Rapide, it needs a total going over, I will have to see what stuff is still available in the UK.

When you were riding the bike, and the car came out, that happened to my dad in the 50's , but he was hit on the right rear of the bike, the brake lever was stuck in the panel of the car he was hit with, he wasn't injured, but the bikes rear end was bent, and a couple of dent's in the tank, it has stayed that way ever since. I want to get it back, to it's former glory.

@@yorkshirebiker1293 I don't know if I will ever get it going, but I want to at least, get it in one piece, that looks like, you only have to kick it over to start it. If I can do that, then I might start over again, and do the whole lot, I know that sounds a bit strange, but that is just me in general.

Traditionally 90 degrees for a V-Twin supposedly gets the most power, Harley went 45 degrees for packaging and balance (when moving) but 50 degrees is unique I rather think? I wonder what made Phil Irving go for that angle? After all, he was NOT a dumb man when it came to engineering.
@@ivanjulian2532 its a very interesting engine, high cams for short push rod, rocker arms fit below the springs as apposed to above,4 main bearings. Worth a good look miles different to other stuff

Dave Hill makes a centre stand, the one at the rear can be a pain to use and i under stand can fail, just makes life easy

Funny to think that back in the mid ‘50s with trunk roads and no motorways this must have been the fastest form of transport available.

You can get any thing you care to name at a price, the club has a on line shop ,but make sure your sat down.👍

My older cousin had a Rapide in the early 1970s. He's an old man now, but he still kicks himself every day for selling it.
