Great job, Destin!!! Your picture came out perfect! 👏👏👏🤓
I love your enthusiasm and your video was a joy to watch! Your photo showing all phases of the eclipse looks worthy of winning an award. You really should enter it into a photography contest! Also it helps that you made RUclips videos that definitively prove you captured the image using a camera and it's not photoshopped or created using AI.

I watched your 2024 Eclipse video with my two sons and I was shocked to find myself emotional about the photo as well. I’m not sure if it was your reverence for Dr. Telepun and his excitement or that you’ve once again made me smarter a d strive to be smarter. I’m a tinkerer too and I love arriving at an expected outcome but finding something unexpected within an outcome is extraordinary.

So happy you did this because I was one of the folks who wanted a copy of this photo! Its so awesome.
I'm also a little bummed to have found out we saw the eclipse in the same town but I was in the wrong field! Would have been cool to see you and the doctor showing off all the experiments I was watching for that you guys taught us all about.
See you in Spain for the next one! Or Iceland... Haven't decided if I'm gonna risj bad weather for a longer totality yet.

    Destin,
As an avid film photographer that came from digital and missed out on my late uncles knowledge of decades, worth the film, photography knowledge I really enjoy everything you do and put out there. I develop all my film in my bathroom. I scan multiple ways as well as looking into modifying cameras from , really awesome engineers who have made amazing things so that we could bring back things such as Polaroids to the RZ 67 for example. I enjoyed your series that you did at the Kodak factory. I thought that was amazing and I am very impressed with your ability to get all of this done, especially on a piece of slide film, knowing how finicky they are. Thanks for everything and I’m looking forward to always seeing your content. If you ever find yourself in the central North Carolina area you’re more than welcome to swing through for some fun and science. Macro(6-7mm on one 35mm slide) on film is hard and I’m working on that but would love to show you some things in progress. Keep at it. -ae

I’m curious why you only make the photo 12”x12”. I would think that with a photo on film that large you could make it much larger unless, it is too grainy due to the film speed. I would definitely buy a larger one if it was available. Fantastic video by the way. I watched it again with my father who thought it was great and he said, he seems like a really nice guy. I replied I think so too and we need more people in this world like him. Keep up the great work!!!

Destin, Thanks so much for offering this to non-Patrons. I (47m) was not shy about my emotions watching the revealing of the photo and am thrilled to be able to add it to my office wall - ordered a metal one for myself. And, because I chose poorly and was just north and east of Buffalo w/ my niece (7) for a VERY cloudy eclipse I also ordered a paper 12x12 for her to hang in her bedroom. She was very upset that we didn't get a decent view and her brother (who was further south and west of us with my BIL) did, but I will forever remember the experience with her and my sister. Your channel has inspired a number of gifts to my nieces and nephew over the years and they're turning out to be proper science/space nerds like me. All the best to you and your family.

I have a suggestion for anyone trying to figure out the mystery objects. (I believe they are satellites, but have no idea which ones.)
If you use trig to figure out how far away they are from the camera, keep in mind that's NOT the altitude above ground unless the sun was directly overhead. The satellite's altitude above ground will be less than its distance from the camera.

Destin, I'm a bit confused. How can the prints be available in Spain and Latvia and not in the rest of the European Union ?
Both Spain and Latvia are members of the EU and are therefore part of the same internal market.
If you have a company print those in Spain or Latvia it should not be a big deal for them to ship to the rest of the EU (maybe a bit higher shipping cost, due to distance, but that's all)

I printed the full image on letter paper (8.5"x11", the image ended up 7.75"x10.26"), but it doesn't look nearly as striking as the long poster. You can take the file to any print shop, and they can do it for you. just search for a good shop in your area and give them some business. I assume the license he gave is only restricting the sale and profit of the image. also it only seems right that as Destin put so much effort and love into this photo that no one does any distribution of it. if people are interested point them to where they can get one for themselves.

Edit: oh, nice! The resolution is enough for huge posters!
What's the actual resolution of the file(s) on patreon? You should really give that information. Seeing as how you captured it on medium format film it seems to me that it should be suitable for huge posters. I don't know if your digital scans would be suitable for that, but surely making huge prints from the film itself would work very well. A little 12" copy seems like a waste. 12 feet and now you're talking.

Thanks Destin, for making this available. During the eclipse, i wondered how i can document (scrapbook) the progression.. and yes i do have photos, but this is a really cool way to document the 4 hours and 23 minutes of totality, (central Texas) which by the way, was not long enough to oooh and awe over the whole event.. 3+ months after the fact, is when i found this.. I'm not a subscriber to your channel, but i know your out there, and occasionally binge watch your channel.. just found out about your second channel. Also love NDQ.. i listen to those every time. I am encouraged with how unapologetically you are about your faith.. keep it up..

Hey Destin. $70 is maybe not a lot for someone in the US, but it would cost me almost R2000 for a copy of the eclipse that you took. I would dearly like one, but can't afford that amount. Oh well, the joys of living in a third world country. Good job on capturing those pictures!!

This is a spectacular photo and it was amazing to see the process of making it. I am VERY tempted to try and get the metal version, however I will probably only be able to get the paper version.
On a side note, the technical achievement of this photograph is amazing! I shoot an RB67 (very similar to the RZ67), with 120/220. However it is almost always B&W I make from old areal film stocks that I cut down and roll myself. The few rolls of 120 color and slide are saved for very special occasions, as the cost is very high per shot. And I can honestly say, I would have been very hesitant to try to take a picture like that.
Honestly, this makes me want to break out a roll of color film and just go shoot, even if the cost is higher. Although the Velvia 50 in the freezer will definitely be saved for something extremely special. I doubt I’ll get anything like Bliss, but I’m gonna try!

People are saying in here that any tier gets access but on Patreon it says top tier exclusive. Which is true?

    I am buying this!!!
A quick question, where were you when you took the picture? I traveled from Alabama to a small town in southern Missouri, just outside Poplar Bluff, to watch the eclipse.

I shoot medium format with a Mamiya 645, which has the ability to do multiple exposures. Sadly, I missed the eclipse, and now I'm not quite sad as about it because to be honest, It wouldn't have occurred to me to do that. You did a fantastic job, and it brings me joy to see how much you love film photography (The Kodak series was amazing!) Thank for all you do Destin, and keep shooting film!

Just received both of the metal prints in the mail today, the timelapse 2024 eclipse AND the 2017 ISS solar transit. They look awesome. Thank you so much for making them available. How can I share a photo of their new home?

People also love the photographer. Ansel Adams' picture of Half Dome is more valuable and desired than MY picture of Half Dome. Doesn't that make you all warm and fuzzy!?

Hey Destin, A couple of things… First, from the other video, all the old 35mm cameras from back in the day that I am familiar with (manual wind) had a button on the bottom that if you hold it in while winding, it won’t advance the film. This was for double exposures. Also, did you notice that the frame number on the film is 42? (Are you familiar with Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy?) It doesn’t appear to show on the print!

    We got lucky.
It passed right over us, and I dragged my family out to see it.
They didn't expect much. Like, it would be neat? But whatever, why not. Let's go.
They were in awe. It was emotional, and wonderful. They still talk about, saying they are so glad they didn't miss it.
It's hard not to be happy for other people who are sharing such a great experience.
