After trying to erect my lanshan in the garden for over an hour, I finally search RUclips for ideas and found your brilliant method which I was able to use and successful put my tent up in less the 10 minutes. Fantastic, thank you!
Finally! A video that explains how to set up this tent in a way that is easy to follow! You have unlocked the key to the perfect setup for this tent. I tried it out today in my backyard and my lanshan looked so solid for once! I'm so excited to try this out on a trip now! Thanks so much!
Thanks for the really useful tips Julia, I've watched a couple of other videos and they had to do way too much faffing to tighten up, your method looks 100% from 1 go!
@@TheAdventureGeek looking forward to using my new tent this weekend and I'm grateful for the tips to get best pitch possible, starting off I expect to need a few tries b4 it matches your standard 😀
Great video! I recommend users apply seam sealer to those circles where the cords attach to the tent (the ones you didn’t use). Those help pull the tent walls out for more internal space, especially for us tall people. The sealant helps assure those contact points don’t leak, which seems to be an issue with some users. Otherwise, I love my Lanshan!
This is great! Going to the park to try this today. One thing I do when setting up mine is after spreading the floor and fly out, I put a pole in and erect it once before staking the fly out. That will draw the sides of the fly in so you know exactly where to put the stakes. That helps reduce the number of times you have to restake.
I've got three now! 2 x 2p lanshans (3 season and 4 season) and also a 1p 4 season tent. I think they are an excellent build quality tent and super easy to put up once you have mastered it. Thanks for taking the time to comment Chris.
I just bought this tent I have pitched it once to make sure it's ok and I untied the wee knots on the guy rope 🤣 I managed to work it out though. Do you have any tips on how to reduce the gap between the ground and fly sheet where the zip is for the doors. I am worried about the wind and rain getting under. I am going to try setting my poles at different sizes but any other help would be great
Hi Gus, it’s a great tent and I now have two! A 4 season and a 3 season. When it’s windy I set my poles to 120 and if it’s snowing and windy I set them to 115cm. Good luck and thanks for taking the time to to comment.
Just bought a LS 2 from Ali, waiting for it to arrive! So this is very good timing....Have seen this method of pitching the LS 1 so good to know it also works for the LS 2 - great video, thanks! 😁
Thanks Julia, I've watched 5 vids each one showing a different way to pitch the Lanshan 2. Your way certainly seems to be the neatest and strongest, especially if it's a bit windy. What got me was the little double clip thing that attaches to the doors. Nowhere do the instructions tell you how that works. Question: what do you have on the end of your carbon fibre pole to make it rounded so as not to damage the tent material?
Hi Rob - I googled "pole mushroom" and bought one from a backpacking website. Since then, I now use bamboo toppers (they are cheap and much smaller and do the job perfectly - amzn.to/3hFqvsU - hope this helps)
Thanks for your comment Motueka. I've just returned from a very windy winter hike in the UK and the pole ripped a big hole in my tent (user error not the pole's fault). I had to bunk in with a friend in the early hours which was not great. I used Size126cm-Packed 46cm pole from AliExpress, but would now recommend getting the pole caps to go with it (or stick to trekking poles in windy conditions). I hope that helps? ATB - Julia
Unusual set up, but it looks a solid job. Will certainly give it a try. Just one query, though. Why aren't the loops on the footprint attached to the pegs? Is this because this particular footprint has no loops?
Good point - I do actually have little yellow pegs that I use if it is windy and yes, there are loops in the footprint. I would peg it out separately though as you want the footprint to be smaller than the tent.
That’s an awesome pitch, I have the Lanshan 2Pro, I will try it this way . I believe the poles at 50” is the highest I’ve seen it pitched but I’ll give it a try and see how it goes
If you are extremely silly like me and untied those knots because you thought it was a tangle in the cord ... from the base of the black clip with two hooks that attaches to the bottom of the 'doors its 63 cm (or 25 inches for any Americans watching)
Thank you for asking this! I just knew if I scanned comments I'd find the answer to the problem I created on my first trial run and have never been able to fix. Maybe now I can actually use this tent!
One more question, as you say the first layer is a bit high from the ground, does this affect the quality of the resting? Like wind, water or cold getting into the tent. Thank you in advance.
If it is windy or bad weather then I use my trekking poles at a smaller level to keep the gap as a minimum. It's really handy to have the flexibility. I have not had any issues with condensation and I think this tent is awesome. Thanks for commenting and good luck with your LS2. - ATB - Julia
Dont forget to silnet every seam before you use in rain. Also a little waterproof seal spray on the seams after would do wonders just incase you over look a part of the seam.
Sorry, I am not sure how I missed this comment. The size of the pole is 125cm. I always walk with one trekking pole, so it made sense for me to do it this way. x
Hi Julia, there are many ways to skin a cat! lol -I used a lanshan 1 over all of last winter and can't get my new lanshan 2 out with this lockdown. Just seam sealed the L2 in my garden using almost the same set up technique. If anyone's interested in how I've done both these things check my channel..! look forward to getting this baby out. Stay safe. atb Sinco
I read that it's better LS2, because there is not too much difference about the weight of both tent. I'm also 186 CMS high and LS1 could be too short for me, what do you think about both questions? Thanks in advance.

Thank you for posting this! Finally got a good pitch.
Glad to hear I helped. Thanks for taking the time to comment.
This may not have many views but this is legit the best setup video on RUclips as you actually set this it up in the best possible way imo.

I’ve been pitching mine for over a year and hadn’t considered this approach - can’t wait to try, thx!!
Good luck Jon. :-)
Great way to pitch this tent. My Lanshan 2 Pro should be here in April and I'll try pitching it this way first time out. Great video. Thanks
Thanks Ian and good luck with your Lanshan 2 pro. They are good tents 🏕

Can I ask what pole you ordered to support the tent ?

The Adventure Geek 47” is what is recommended on 3F UL’s setup video for the Lanshan 2Pro, I believe they have the same dimensions. Thanks, again
One more thing, does your foot print have cords?? If so might not hurt to attach to stakes too
If it’s windy then I may peg down the groundsheet but so far I haven’t needed to. Thanks for taking the time to comment ATB - Julia
Thanks i finally got mine but have to work the week. I too also got the foot print and the flame creed tarp
So, say you DID untie those loops that you told us not to untie. How far from the tent are those so we can retie them?
haha i did the same. I was wondering what knot i need to use.
If you are extremely silly like me and untied those knots because you thought it was a tangle in the cord ... from the base of the black clip with two hooks that attaches to the bottom of the 'doors its 63 cm (or 25 inches for any Americans watching)

This is the classic way of pitching a tent. I was taught the same when I was a scout decades ago 👍🏻

Thank you very much for the video. My LS2 is arriving in a few days. I’ll try your way. Is this tent working well in rain?
Dont forget to silnet every seam before you use in rain. Also a little waterproof seal spray on the seams after would do wonders just incase you over look a part of the seam.
What size is your dinky pole and where did you purchase it.. Does it make sense to just purchase two of these poles as I dont use trekking poles? TIA
Sorry, I am not sure how I missed this comment. The size of the pole is 125cm. I always walk with one trekking pole, so it made sense for me to do it this way. x
How do you stop the pole from poking a hole in the fly? As the trekking pole has a big flat padded end in it.

@@Alegalway Yeah not much difference in weight, but def more room in the LS2 for a taller person... the LS1 would be pretty tight lengthways
Sadly that unneeded music is SO ANNOYING.
