Omg Andrew, I didn’t know this was comping, so I used your template to make my own, except I used my schools laser cutter with cardboard, because I could do that fro free. I literally finished building it yesterday.
Great work, though I'm not a fan of leafing the textured side unsanded.
Sanded flatwith a belt sander and glued together with concact cement the cleaned up look will usually make the finished result feel as if it's made from one solid block, with no tell-tale gaps.
I agree completely... This tutorial is aimed for beginners who dont have belt sanders or rotary tools to make final result far better =)

I have a weapon idea for your series that I'm pretty sure hasn't been mentioned before. Cerberus - Vincent's gun - from Final Fantasy VII and VII: Dirge of Cerberus. That would look really good carved out of foam.

Well, in that case your blade is not sharp enugh. Alot of beginers have this problom and all you have to do is sharpen it a little.
