I enjoyed the season, but was let down by the ending. It felt rushed and honestly unsatisfying. I agree with you about Victor and Benji. The show should’ve ended with Victor riding that Ferris Wheel by himself. We all know him and Benji are gonna break up the following week. I love the show, but man what a half assed ending. Plus they gave us 8 episodes instead of 10! I feel like they could’ve done so much better. I’m ready for a Love, Rahim spin-off now. 🤗

Like I was craving for Victor to end up alone not just because I hated benji's and Victor 's relationship this season but also bc it has been done millions of times already and I'm in a part of my life where bittersweet endings are the best ! 100% agree about Victor not knowing how to be alone. I have no idea as to why the writers had Nick stick around after the casual hookup storyline and all of sudden turn into boyfriend material. Him at the end saying that he was “okay with being by himself” was a WHOLE LIE. Every episode was pining after Benji, pursuing Benji, hooking up with Nick, dating Nick, etc.
ALSO the Victor and Benji storyline was completely irresponsible. Regardless of whether Victor is Benji's primary trigger or not, it is perfectly normal for a 17 year old alcoholic to stay single so that he can work on himself. Their whole, "but we love each other so much," mess really gave, "well love can fix a mental illness," which is the farthest thing from the truth.

@@stevyers Eh if you wouldn't hqve mentioned divorce I could like this but you clearly don't understand that ppl getting a divorce is not as nuances as it seems. People actually do try harder when they are married and whenever you marry for love ans whenever you make a promise about forever with not knowing what ppl will grow into it will always be risky. Not to mention depending where you are, at least in the US the divorce process is pretty lengthy and consists of needing to be separated for a specific amount of time and possibly do a number of couple counseling sessions. The reasons why divorce rates were low before was due to it being very difficult to get a divorce prior to the 70's and the fact that marrying for love is a new concept that wasn't even a factor for marriage for the longest. So please educate yourself and stop perpetuating a false myth as fact.

Because he is too flamboyant which is what pissed me off about this season. He was able to date two white masculine passing gay boys, but Raheem gets left on the side lines and just brushes over it like it's nothing.I just felt like they didn't feel he wasn't "masculine" enough to be with victor even tho he literally had more chemistry with him than Benji had. They set up this love triangle and a cliff hanger from last season like it was some big deal only for him to end up back with Benji which was pointless. To Also bring in another white straight passing gay guy to catch victors attention even though it was clear victor had some feelings for Raheem. It just reinforces toxic LGBT mentality that flamboyant isn't seen as attractive smh.

while the season was definitely a season of television i watched lmao, I still have some thoughts:
    - first, I think you're confused, or I am, because felix and pilar didn't get back together. she decided to get over her feelings after he told her how much her family meant to him and let him come back to hang with them, but they didn't get back together. their storyline is the one that confused me most, cuz it started out great, I loved it, they were supporting each other and everything it was cute, but then when felix wanted a break to allow her dad to cool off and for things to go back to normal, she had a total freak out about how he'd rather pick her family than fight for her, which is not at all what I got from the situation and I thought it was a really dumb reason to break up. and I think there was an unfinished story with pilar, cuz in s1, she was gonna send nudes to her bf so he wouldn't leave her and in this one she was trying to sleep with felix so he wouldn't leave her too, and I'm like this is something I feel should be explored more. anyway their ending really confused me, because I don't understand why they broke up.
    - loved lake and lucy, i'd been hoping for bi lake ever since the movie erased the possibility of bi leah and abby lmao
    - loved andrew and mia, andrew was just so good this season, although I was like okay you need to chill sir, focus on your life a bit. and I thought mia's 180 was sudden too but made sense, she's always wanted a family
    - something I really wanted from this show and that we got was so much queer friendships. like in s1 victor was all alone, he had to text a stranger to feel connection, and now we have so many queer characters in creekwood. my favourite episodes in 1 and 2 were him in new york and him and rahim skipping school because they showed the power of community and you're not alone. this season we had him and rahim being besties, rahim and benji getting over themselves and being friendly as well, 4 queer characters going on a double date and being able to protect each other from homophobic bitches, a closeted queer kid, and the fact we still had benji and lucy being friends and lake being friends with victor, like victor finally has a community and is not alone and that's something I really wanted to see.
and even if part of me agrees that him and rahim have great chemistry, the fact that they're friends matters even more to me, like to have someone that just gets you like that, it was so perfect, I loved it.
    - I never cared for benji and victor but I knew they would end on the damn ferris wheel. like I get why they did it, but I agree it shouldn't have happened. i was liking benji working on himself and being on his own, and I wanted victor to do that as well, like I'm sorry I simply don't get why they were ever together. victor alone would've been more powerful as an ending. but oh well, we got what we got.
I'm glad the show exists, it was cute and introduced a lot of good actors

    some thoughts:
1.I haven't looked through the comments but did anyone else feel that the "bravery award" just WAS NOT IT? As a queer person, I feel like this would be insulting in real life and I agreed with Victor in that wanting to be recognized for skill vs. "yay ur gay~☆". That didn't sit right with me 🙃
    2. I LOVE Connor and Rahim - I personally don't agree with the Victor and Rahim dynamic as Rahim deserves better, especially as Victor is more likely to "flip flop". Connor is a sweetheart and the least toxic person on that show 😂
    3. I would've been more satisfied with an epilogue of Benji and Victor growing separately - we rarely see being single as a happy ending which is a shame 😕 OR an epilogue where we see them SEVERAL years later and they've grown as different people that would drive home what is said in earlier episodes of "maybe we're not meant to be for now but later". ANYTHING BUT THE ENDING WE GOT😭😭
I loved the earlier two seasons and that's why I'm disappointed with the ending we got - it had so much potential🥲

I thought it was clear in its ambiguity. She didn't want to deprive him of the feeling of having family, and there was potential for it to go somewhere romantically, too. I thought it was very mature of Pilar. It was perfect, because it offered a contrast to Lake's decision who went all in. All the couples ended up with various degrees of commitment/stages in their relationship, and I thought that was very real. I personally don't think it's over for them, but I like that they still have space to grow as individuals before jumping in a relationship again. Even if they never end up together ultimately, that's just as well because Felix is still part of the family regardless. Beautifully open-ended!

I thought that in the end of season 2/beginning of season 3, Rahim was gonna answer the door but was so surprised to find Benji was the one there. I HATED how it actually seemed rushed (especially towards the end, and they literally cut it 2 episodes short) but the thing I agreed with you the most is that it just revolves around relationships. Like it’s cute an all, but I was just sitting and wondering “Ok, when are we gonna get to the good stuff?” and then only to find out Victor goes back with Benji?!? They could’ve spend those 2 episodes to build Nicks character a little more and go with him (or even Rahim?), explain and develop Felix’s relationship with Pilar’s parents. And all this “growth and experience”time was for nothing really cuz Victor really did just go back to square 1, even though his relationship with Benji is extremely unstable. On and off like a damn light switch. I really liked Andrew in this season cuz he helped Mia through everything but I HATED how he didn’t think of himself much throughout the season, which is really toxic and you can end up losing yourself even if the only intention is positive/helpful. You’re right, Mia has been beaten over and over again 😂 it sucks, on top of having issues of her own. Lake and Lucy were cute but it wasn’t giving Andrew/Mia type of energy, maybe cuz they had more chemistry? idk. Other than that, it wasn’t THAT bad (pretty sure i’ve seen worse) they just beat the dead horse even more with Benji and I thought they could’ve shown more of his back flashes and story earlier in the show cuz why are we still getting attached to him? Their relationship really isn’t the best but I get what they were trying to do, it’s high school after all. I also wish V ended in the roller coaster alone, or with Rahim/Nick (if they built more character, but I 100% agree with how they tried to use him as just a hookup kinda guy) and slowly withered Benji away. I really liked how Armando liked Victor more but there were a lot of cringe moments. Definitely the worst out of the 3 seasons 😬 I also agree the V doesn’t rlly seem like the main character, it did at first but slowly just didn’t seem like it. Rahim is a lot more likable (even tho he caused a LOT of trouble between B and V by kissing him) but whatever, didn’t like how THIS is how it had to all end. Also with the other new gay kid (completely forgot his name) I feel like they just through him in the show just because he’s gay instead of something else which is what a lot of other shows do, but with this series I thought it was different but I guess they ended it by doing what a lot of other shows with gay characters do. It’s whatever though, is what it is. 5/10.😊

I think you hit on something with Mia and Andrew. They are what Victor and Benji should've been. Mia and Andrew had history and needed to do their own thing for a bit before getting together again/officially (I'm not sure of all the details). If Victor and Benji were meant to be, there's no reason for them to be thrown together at the end to I suppose prove they're each others soulmates. If they had done the full ten episodes, I think they could've fleshed out a bit more and maybe Benji and Victor could've ended on the Ferris wheel, but as friends, perhaps with the implication that later on they'll get back together. Victor just seemed to be so set on trying to get over Benji but getting under another dude and never even trying to be single and become the person Benji might've needed. This was just a whole ass mess tbh

To be honest when i watched s3 the biggest issue i had was the lack of screen time with pilar. And they judt ruined all the development that she built in the first 2 seasons. They made her more mature as the eps went on but as soon as she got with felix they made her so annoying. And apart from that felix and pilar were my 2 fav characters even before they got together. So i was so excited for s3 for those two and the show just ruined it.

love love love this review!!! I stand by the fact that Victor should’ve gone to RAHIMS HOUSE. Benji and Victor are cute together, and they obviously love each other… but the relationship grew extremely toxic, and i think that Victor needed to be able to grow on his own, and Benji obviously needs to figure out his alcoholism. They’re both quite young to be relying on each other throughout these things. I think the ending was definitely rushed as well, and I hated the whole gay awards plot line.

In the end at the carnival she drags Felix to take a family photo not because they get back together but because of how much her family means to Felix. I would’ve loved for them to get back together but Pilar insisted on Felix being with the family and not just her.

IDK to me it just seemed obvious it was gonna be Benji from the beginning. Rahim if anything was gonna be a rebound/plot device to get us back to Benji in the end. I personally liked the route they chose because Rahim and Victor were great friends and I did not want Rahim being used as a rebound or plot device. That role was literally what Nick was. Nick was the plot device/rebound for Victor from Benji.
It just seemed obvious it was gonna end with Benji and Victor getting back together.

I agree with everything you said about Victor. He didn't learn any lessons and continues to move the same way he's always been moving. My issues with this season is that they made a cliff hanger from last season to make it seem like victor was going to choose one of the guys like it was some weight on his shoulders, only for him to choose Benj as usual in the opening scene of this season.
What really grinds my gears is that they made it seem like Raheem wasn't good enough to be with victor because he is too flamboyant. Instead they just stick with a white masculine attractive guy for eye candy and goes to another one when Benji brakes up with victor. I feel like it further pushes that being flamboyant isn't attractive in the community, which is already very prominent.

  • @awisemfsaid2845

Istg what does Hollywood have against single people???? If they really wanted to represent the community they should have left Victor alone. Most queer youth spends their adolescent years figuring out who they are, or in the closet, or dealing with homophobic family members, so to just have victor go from guy to guy is extremely unrealistic. And just like you said to couple all the gay guys just for the sake of it (especially Nick with that random kid who got rejected by victor) is so frustrating/unsatisfying

The whole season was rushed. They crammed all of Benjis development into like two episodes and had it end with stupid and unrewarding fan service to Love, Simon. We needed two more episodes to see Benji and Victor work on their issues together. They are great characters but their lack of communication was so frustrating. Having the show end here is a smack in the face to the fans, character and honestly even the actors since for most characters the story just ends how it started. Victor and Benji have a lot of potential and it's cute how they came back to each other but it felt unrewarding with how the season went. Benji should've been there for the speech, it should've ended with them being cute in the coffee shop again and we should've seen Victor coming to an AA meeting with Benji to show that they are working together.

It's funny bc everyone was so on board with Victor choosing Benji and I just wasn't. I went in thinking whatever makes Victor happy, I'll support it. Now don't get me wrong, I don't hate Benji, I just think him and Victor are not a great fit. They are the classical "peaked in high school" romance. There is no shot that they are still dating five years from now.
I honestly liked Victor trying out different things in this season and figuring out what it is he needs. But since this was the last season, that kinda felt rushed. I agree with you that this season was super focused on the romantic relationships, I just feel like they didn't have enough time to fully flesh everything out and focus on different things for longer (like Lake's relationship with her mom, Isabel's guilt over not accepting Victor right away, Benji and Rahim as friends, etc). It just feels like they needed another season to fully wrap up the story.

There are many reasons why I believe Victor shouldn't go back to Benjii:
1.Benjii has lied to him several times.
    2. He never once apologized to Victor's mom for having sex in her house (he could've seen it in her perspective and understand why she would get upset in the first place)
so, he just expect that people should just deal with him being gay.😡
    3. He kinda gaslights Victor in a way. That's very shady.
Benjii. overall isn't a bad person but he just needs to sort himself out.

First season was really really good. First half of the second season was decent. But then victor and benjis relationship just became really bad forced writing just for drama. And then when they "get back together" in season 3 it lasts like all of 1 night before rehab. The writers could have gone the route of showing a supporting and more healthy gay relationship with both of them and ultimately it wasn't. Yeah they got back together at the end of season 3, but at that point I just wasn't even surprised. I liked Victor and Rahims friendship. It really should've just stayed like friends. Love triangle tropes are really getting annoying. Especially when season 3 became a love square.
Rahim got a lot more interesting this season and I would've rooted for him more if they didn't force that love triangle which just tainted how I viewed Victor and Rahim for a while. I did appreciate showing good queer solidarity and friendships.
Lake and Lucy were great though and made up for the not amazing queer relationships happening elsewhere. Sadly it only was one season so not enough of it.
I really liked the arc of Victor's parents and the relationship with Victor throughout the seasons. Particularly as catholics. I really wish that had been more of a focus in the 3rd season.
8 episodes definitely felt too rushed for all the stuff they put into it, lots of good ideas but not all well executed. More importantly I just wish we got to see healthier stronger queer relationships, and there was potential with Venji, we almost got it with Rahim and Connor, and just a little with Lake/Lucy. Sadly we didn't get that and mostly forced drama for the love stuff, luckily all the friendships were more natural. I'll still miss the characters.
Thank god Heartstopper and Young Royals came out since Love Victor. Far superior shows imo. We have come a long way since SKAM as far as teenage queer relationships are depicted.

I agree with you wholeheartedly about Victor's arch this season. It would have been great for them to let his character to navigate on his own and to grow into who he is as a young gay man (which he has not had the opportunity because they continue to put him in romantic relationships and I just feel like he still has not figured out who he is outside of the romantic and non-romantic relationships he has been navigating through since season 1). I really enjoyed the season and the show as a whole as a young same-gender-loving man myself. I just would have loved to see this arch with his character and would have been so refreshing.

For me, this season was also not so good because it was predictable and the side characters had more interesting plots than the main characters(because victor just went back to what's comfortable like lucy almost did which is unhealthy ). And the growth that was happening in Victor and Nicks's relationship was so honest and promising cause we could see how Nick changed to be with Victor. It was just wrong to cut off such a promising relationship like that and make Victor go back to Benji again. And Rehim is also a main character in the show but we didn't really get to see more of his relationship with his boyfriend like the others.
In conclusion, the show felt rushed and fast-paced we didn't get to see all the relationship growth and the character development we should have gotten.

i know most of you didn't like the ending because it felt rushed but if you look at it another way, it made sense.
after his speech, victor sprints his way to benji's just before he leaves for boarding school and confesses what he really feels. had he not done that, Benji would probably never realise that victor isn't over him and still loves him with all his heart.
even though there were chances of Benji still going away, victor took the shot. it probably shows that there is hope in every relationship even at the worst stages (probably not like this in reality) and besides even Benji realised his mistake towards the end so i think y'all should give him a break.
adding to this, victor and Rahim would make a really good couple but at the end of season 2, victor was still not over Benji. yes, he felt a connection with Rahim but he had been dating Benji for months and couldn't just forget him out of nowhere?
so it makes sense showing up at benji's in season 3.
having said that, this wasn't the best season, they could've done better.

The show should have shown Victor apologizing to Benji in the beginning of this season's episode. He then should have shown how much he cared about Benji's recovery and should have broke up with Benji for the best. He then should have went to Rahim's house in that same night to address how he cares more about their friendship. He then should have flown to New York and discovered more of himself, or he should have at least gone on a road trip. After the trip, he would have came back with some better sense about what he needs and who he is. He would have been ready to be brave and confident in who he is. He would realize he doesn't need to be in a relationship to be gay. That he can be gay on his own and be who he is without validation. This would have been a very impactful message for the season and for the series as a whole. For the remaining of the season, Victor should have been single. This would have allowed Victor to be seen as a bada**, powerful gay king during this series' finale season. There also should have been ten episodes to show our beloved characters' graduation and where they would be headed to in their futures. There could be a series spin off (Love, Liam) with Victor being at NYU and mentoring Liam who would still be attending Creekwood. He would be Liam's Simon. This spin off series could further explore Lucy as a character and her sexuality. Overall, this season had potential.

After Victor learns more about what he needs and who he is, the next episodes could show Benji's growth with his personal issues. There could be an episode where he has banter with his band, and an episode showing a couple of their music concerts and maybe even one of their tours. In one of their tours, Benji could grow into himself and have an amazing character build. On this tour, Benji's bandmates would have given him genuine advice. They would open up about their own experiences. One of his bandmates could have struggled with addiction as well. They could have been there to give Benji great advice on how he should take the time to focus on himself and his recovery, and how he should most importantly focus on what he wants. The bandmate would teach him how the steps towards recovery, and growing as a person, is more important than being in a relationship. Benji would come back from the tour ready to take the next step he needs to recover. This would have been a great and impactful message from the series.

Rahim's story line can stay the same as it was the most strong, genuine and authentic story line of the season and the series. What a king! Rahim would then form a unique connection with Benji, and their bond would lead them to become good friends. The only one difference that we would change with Rahim's plot is his friendship with Victor. In the double date episode, when Victor tells Rahim to ignore the homophobic bullies at the restaurant, we would have Rahim pop off on Victor's a**. Rahim would stand up like the King he is and tell off Victor. Victor would be left with his lame a** at that table, regretting what he did to Rahim. Telling your friend to ignore jerks that are treating them with disrespect is not okay. We need to stand up for our friends during these situations, we cannot just sit there and push the situation under the rug. The audience would learn that sometimes we have to brave, despite what our friends say and their lack of action. They would learn and see that it is important to stand up for ourselves, especially when we are majorly impacted by rude and damaging comments. That would have been the most iconic scene of the series we love Rahim!

    • @serayvlogs

Lake, Lucy, Mia, Andrew, Pilar, and Felix's plots would stay the same. Nick and Liam's plot would be changed. Liam and Nick would not end up together. Nick would still be in love with Victor even though they would be on a break. This will allow Victor to take the time that he needs to get over Benji and grow as a person. Liam would be single. We would see his adventures and how he navigates through his world dealing with his sexuality. In the spin-off series, Victor, now an NYU student, mentors Liam. Liam would learn how to be more comfortable in his sexuality. He would also learn to love himself for the way that he is.

I binged all 3 seasons over the last few days. I was so sure that little brother Adrian was going to be a half-sibling, either from the mom's affair or maybe the dad had a revenge affair. They said that Adrian was an Ooops and the dad had a vasectomy. They said that the kids didn't fully know what happened (but I guess that was the dad punching the boss). I was waiting and waiting for that to happen. But, guess not.
I agree with your overall rating for the series. I like Heartstopper better at this point. I have rewatched Heartstopper but don't think I'll be rewatching Love, Victor.

ngl this show, especially season 3 is making me think I might not ever date a white person lmfao. cause all that manipulative, toxic, selfish, back and forth bs benji was on was actually driving me insane. and him not recognizing his privileges and using them to his advantage just....infuriated me. but ofc, these traits aren't exclusive to any race, make no mistake
anyway, benji getting back with victor was stupid, really undid all the work that the two of them did seperately and seemed forced and rushed. the rest of the season was pretty decent for the most part. I especially loved the relationship with victor and pilar's parents and all the emotional work they did.

I love Asian BLs and I think film makers can learn a lot from how they tell stories.

I absolutely agree. I enjoyed everybody's storyline EXCEPT Victor. They all seemed to grow and learn more about themselves and what they wanted and he just went back to Benji having not grown at all. It would've been better if we had seen him grow and at the end of the day ended up with Benji. But I don't think Benji or Victor proved themselves able to be in any relationship, much less with each other that was very toxic. And I also don't understand the vibe of throwing random flings Víctor had together at the end. Like I get the show is cheesy and you want people to get together, but why do that to characters you're not gonna explore further anyway. I would love to see another spinoff with Lake and Lucy as they enter post-high school life or even Pilar.

The ending was so rushed which like everything else in this season has been done before…

I just binge watched the show and was left feeling really disappointed. The show was full of gay relationships but I ended up rooting for Felix and the relationship between Lake and Lucy.
The whole time it felt like the show was really forcing Benji and Victor. There was only a few episodes of chemistry building between Victor and Rahim but it felt more natural. Benji is not good for Victor. They both need time to focus on themselves before dating anyone

i also felt like the relationship between lake and lucy didn’t have enough like build up. i loved them so much, but i wish there was just a little…more

The relationship between Victor and Benji was not toxic, there is no perfect relationship, and every couple will go through fights and arguments, if Victor had chosen Rahim the series would pass on the vision that any couple fight, it is better to give up everything and look for a new love, but that's not how life works, Rahim realized all the troubled moment between Victor and Benji and wanted to take advantage of the situation, he who had a toxic attitude and selfish 🙄😪
