I don't know where he's at, but from my perspective: I live in Southern NJ 3 hours North will get me to Upstate New York, 3 hours south will get to over the Virginia Line, 3 hours West will get me halfway through PA. That's wild that he's driving that far and doing this for the good.

PS a few years ago before my late husband passed he was very sick and I had to take over the lawn duties. I was fine with that. What I was never fine with and fail,after fail, after fail Was that my edger and myself never really struck up that romance. I never got the neck of it. Great job on the edging. Particularly since you did this for free just for the kindness and the satisfaction on your own heart. God bless

I have no idea but I will take a wild guess and say that it must be people who hate landscapers. At least I love landscaping and mowing lawns.

I hear crap like that from neighbors who complain about everything. They will actually walk by while you are doing stuff, stare at you, let their dog pee in your yard while you are doing work. Not one of them has ever offered to help and they will call zone enforcement on people. This is in East Lansing Michigan most of them are affiliated with Michigan State U. I used to take care of the old guys place across the street. Just because once you have the equipment out, it only takes few minutes, but he would -never- ask.

This was my favorite job last year. It was for a good cause, it was in the area I grew up in, and it was a pretty good challenge. It was brutally hot in the front but other than that once the work was done I felt really good about it.
I've chainsawed trees and tarped in hurricane victims, done a bit of free work for veterans, given some $ to food banks. Next to THIS GUY, I'm a WIMP.

But PLEASE protect yourself from breathing in chemicals and dirt etc. as it goes into your lungs! Not to scare you but my brother did the same job as you and didn’t wear a mask. He developed lung cancer and died at 53. Before he died he said he wished he had listened but living in Florida it was just too hot for a ventilator on your face.

If I saw this happening , I would certainly jump in with my rake and help out. I walk my dog wearing one gardening glove, and when he stops to do his biz, I pull a weed or straighten up a rock garden, whatever I can do to bring beauty back to the neighborhood. in our neighborhood we had a senior couple and all the neighbors went over to their yard and started cutting and trimming and raking and bagging and cleaning the older gentleman came out swinging a broom yelling get out and I told him it was NOT FREE we all wanted some of his GRAPES on his grape vine about 40 foot grape vine over 30 years old THEN the senior gentleman said OK it is extremely hard for older people to take charity older people were raised differently and taking charity was considered a BIG SHAME
I have a reminder that comes on my computer screen every night at 9 pm, “What ate you grateful for?” People like this guy.

Dude, I didn’t want to cry today but I did. I just want to take a moment and say thank you. The world is a better and brighter place with people like you in it. With so much hate and negativity that is going on right now it is awesome to see people like you and videos like this. I think this is so amazing. Much love and prayers to Jamie and y’all’s family. We are thinking of her and praying for her. I hate cancer and what it does to people and their families. There's an empty lot across from me. I mowed it because it was an eyesore & ALSO to give the kids on my street a place to run around/ play instead of destroying my yard.

I'm not in lawn care, but rather in bicycle repair. And it's always the trashy, messed up bikes I like to fix the most. It's challenging, satisfying, and there's nothing better than making someone smile.

@@dnegel9546 you have 2 neighbors as well as people across the street in some cases. thats a total of 4-5 houses. if someone talked to them and said hey by the looks of the grass you might have something going on, is there anyway I can help? you dont have to do "free" labor but what is an extra hour or 2.

You know what I love about your channel? A lot of these homes look vacant and abandoned as if no one has lived there for a very long time. You could just as easily have come, cut the grass and left. But you take the time and effort to carefully edge the pavement, cut the grass - blow it - and cut it again cause sometimes the high grass is hidden underneath, and you treat these lawns as if they were your own. I can’t tell you how many lawns in my neighborhood are overgrown and the county just slaps fines on homeowners, many of whom are either elderly or disabled, for more than the cost of just hiring someone to cut the lawn, or by having someone like yourself come out and cut the lawn for them. Having had my lawn cut for the last few years, I can’t tell you how many guys have shown up and done a - pardon my French - half assed job and not weed whacked the edges, or left various areas around trees or garden boxes untrimmed. The reason someone should hire you - for your normal everyday business - is because you’re thorough, you do a great job every time, don’t finish until the job is done. Last year I had a guy come out for my first cut, only finished half the job, then left because “I have other clients to attend to.” No offense, if you take the job, that person is just as much your client as the guy before and the guy after. With so much lawn care competition out there I’m shocked not everyone does as great a job as you. Keep up the hard work! Love seeing these transformations.
Man, I get the tingles whenever he starts lining out the sidewalks. Honestly my favorite part of every video. These corner lots can be so difficult and require so much. You could probably spend a couple days from morning to evening on this and still have stuff left to be done. If I was a neighbor, I'd be so grateful and compelled to keep up regular maintenance on this yard.

I have a 1 acre corner lot with multiple flower beds throughout and two long flower beds on the two outside perimeter edges. It’s an everyday job maintaining it. If I’m walking through my yard there isn’t one time that I don’t bend over and pluck a weed. You’re not kidding about the work they require. Luckily I love gardening and lawn care and we bought the house specifically for the yard.
Man, this REALLY shows work ethic. On a house that looks like it's abandoned, it would be pretty tempting to just knock down the tall grass and not sweat (literally) the details of trimming the sidewalk, etc. Major kudos to you for always caring about the final look.

Hi. Thank you. I just found your channel today. I realize I'm seeing this episode two years after you gave your answer to the question: "Why bother do this with an abandoned or uninhabited property?" or "How does it help?" I'd like to help answer the question too. A: it's fun. People watch it you make money giving people something satisfying and inspiring to watch all while having fun. B. it's not only temporarily helpful to the local community but hopefully inspiring to them as well so they might get the idea to continue the effort by contributing in some way, whether it's picking up sticks or grabbing the litter and putting it in their own trash can. C. Watching this work and the results inspires people to reach out and help other people in other ways.
We don't need recognition for doing something right and good.
If anything, at least it's inspiring to just be more diligent about maintaining or improving our own property.
I'm going to go clean my gutters and pull the weeds from mailbox post!

Something I have learned from experience is that, when I am struggling with my mental health, if I make a conscious effort to pay attention to the needs of people around me and then I can help someone else, my outlook on life improves. It's not always easy to *remember that* when I am struggling with anxiety or depression, but when I can, it's almost always helped me improve where I am.
What you are doing is incredible. Thanks for the reminder that we can change the world... or at least one person's world.
I really wish I had a way to help Jaymee. My husband was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer a few days after Christmas 2021. Radiation treatment was first but didn't make it to chemo. He died Easter Sunday. And the financial problems we are now facing are overwhelming. So I very much understand. The medical was taken care of by the VA. But the sudden loss of all or income is making things hard. Please give her extra hugs for me.
My sister had stage 4 cancer last year and man something like this is huge to help someone put that it struggling much respect man keep it going

Your videos have helped this 75 yr old get motivated to do some much needed yard work after our german shepherd puppy wreaked havoc w digging in flower beds, tearing up a wide path in the backyard and embedding mud all over the patio windows and furniture. I do a bit each day and it's finally looking somewhat back to pre- Lucy days. God bless you for what you do to help others and keep the videos coming. They are inspirational and motivational as well.
This is amazing! I'm a Stage IV Metastatic Breast Cancer patient with Mets to my bones and liver and know first hand the struggle of trying to pay bills and make ends meet while you are unable to work anymore. As a single mother of 2, the struggle has been very difficult, sometimes I consider giving up...but I don't!
What you are doing will help more than you can imagine! God bless you and my thriving sister Jaymee as well.

@@lindamallinson7710 I do have a question about that, cause I've seen people say that the Canadian Health Care system isn't as good as it's cracked up to be; and I'm not from Canada so I can really say what it is. I'm assuming you are from Canada, how is it really? Is it always free or affordable, how are the wait times, do you pay tax for your healthcare (like a healthcare tax) etc...
Aside from Harry Mack, this guy plus that detail geek who clean cars are my go to channels to satisfy my self. 😂👏💙

What on earth !?!? How can someone let a lawn and their yard get in such a mess? I mean someone has to own it, right? But like you say so many times, we have no idea what they are going through or what’s happened in their lives. So awesome Job and I’m so glad you were there for Jaymee. Hugs and Love and PRAYERS to her and the whole family. I know this video was done a while back and that things have gone really well for her but she still has to deal with the after effects (like me) of the chemo and radiation. Love you guys and hope I am becoming more like you and your family every day. Kinder, working harder, more generous, laugh ❤ at obstacles and…LOVING HARD ON MY FAMILY!!! Kudos and Hats Off Kevin.
