As someone who gets their ebook from a variety of sources and will not lock into an "eco system" ill take the one that allows me to just drag and drop from my pc and walk away. Thank you kobo for the ease of use for someone with thousands of ebooks already in a (non-amazon) library.
Kobo battery can last around 3-4 weeks when the Bluetooth and WiFi are switched off and brightness lower than 20%. Most likely, I'll buy a few books and read it offline. i used dark mode most of the time, giving the word some contrast. Pros for me less distractions, and i read faster. Great video, too, as I planned to get a Kindle as well in the future for amazon use.
Worth noting that it's Important to check if the things amazon offers to kindle applies to your country. Where I am libby, rewards, first reads and Kindle unlimited doesn't work. But overdrive on kobo and kobo plus does so that would make kobo the best option for me.
That’s why I’m considering kobo here in Australia. I heard we can use it to access our library books, I think Libby and hoopla or something like that? If so that’s a huge selling point, because in my case I check Kindle Unlimited and it suckssssssssssss here in Australia, 90% self published smut and 8% random titles, the other 2% is normal popular or classics (I made up the numbers but I couldn’t find a single book I wanted to read there)
@@minecraftfails4826 I'm Canadian and got Kobo because it's easier to use and not limited to what you can do/read. Also saw a lot of people from Australia and other countries are getting it too.
Simply put Amazon Kindle is like Apple a headache, complicated, and limited. But Rakuten Kobo is like Samsung/Android universally friendly and used around the world, so much easier to use. Also not only is there Kobo Clara Colour but it comes in black and white as well called Kobo Clara BW. This video sounds like Amazon was behind it and they are getting a kick back.
Android is a headache to me. It’s so complicated LOL. I got the boox Palma and I have to return it I can’t adapt. I ordered the Clara because I saw the libre and love kobos UI, it’s so much cleaner and friendly. I hate the PW Home Screen.
@@coco_munroe I think it might be a learning curve for sure, but it's not much more complicated than ios. It's just that you must have been an older user and ios kept on adding updates slowly and that didn't overwhelm, but both for sure are similar in complexity. I'd suggest to watch a few youtube videos and tutorials if you haven't, cos android is awesome, functionality wise.
@@endezeichengrimm I was worried about this, but i got used to it relatively quickly. just turn up the brightness a little bit and you'll be fine. if you like to read graphic novels as well the color screen is so worth it.
I absolutely love my Kindle Paperwhite and it doesn't bother me at all that it isn't in color. I have the agave green and I love it. I'm definitely a kindle girl 🙂
I read side loaded books on my PW so I rarely have page numbers, only those indecipherable "location" numbers. Unfortunately I am having my second round of loading screen freeze (first time was unfixable) and am considering switching.
How is a professional organization letting such a noob review these things? So many mistakes. You do not need to scan a code to buy on the Kobo, you need to set up your account like you have to do on the Kindle. Also, the Kobo progress indicators are much more useful. There is a bar at the bottom representing how far into the book you are. I am told which page out of x in a chapter I am on. Who cares what percentage of the whole book or chapter time is left? I want to know how many pages I have left on my current chapter. Kindle does not even have those options. One clear strength Kindle has if you use multiple devices is the superiority of whispersync and progress syncing on books that are sideloaded via send to kindle.
As long as it's good and clear to read it's ok for me I select neither any one of them can work for me...a book lover is a book lover ..you need it so advance like phone buy a phone instead of read it there in pdf
You’re the first person that mentioned kobo doesn’t match the actual book number digitally I don’t like that. I’ve always been kindle but I order the library color today
I’m confused. Kindle doesn’t match either, or I never knew that was a thing. In my Bookclub trying to figure why page everyone should read to is always off for everyone.
@@coco_munroe I’ve noticed on kindle for example it’ll say the book has a thousand pages but on my kobo it’ll say 850 since getting the kobo tho I’ve realized that no matter the font sometimes two pages will be on one page like in the middle of the page you’ll see a number on the side saying the number of the next page
What is the point of this video? Comparing apples to oranges or even bananas... Screen size is not the same, while both companies have same size. Screen color or b/w are not the same, while both have both... It's like comparing an amoled screen vs a b/w tv from 1950 or a ferrari vs a lada or a touchscreen keyboard vs a mechanical one... I know my examples are over the top, but so is this video. Both are useless, my examples and this video. On to the next that might actually give me the info I need.. Cheers
❤ Kindle The reason people can't buy books on the app is because Apple wanted a surcharge. Kindle declined hence users have to use a desktop or purchase on their kindle device. Great video 😊 ps Rumor has it Kindle is coming out with a color kindle in 2025. 🤞🏽
Nothing like getting a used physical book missing pages or stuck together or having a publishing error that can't be updated like the ebook version can. Also forgot that opening the physical copy of a new book like deathly hallows that refuses to stay open by itself is also just another plus to physical books. And then they just sit there on your shelf after 😍 Sarcasm aside only books like Illuminae or S. benefit from physical copies tbh because they integrate physical follow alongs that are unmatched via digital versions.
Actually, a Kobo has a setting that shows you the pages in the book and the page you are in the actual original book
do you know how we can turn that setting on?

Your review sounds like it is sponsored by Kindle.
True

I feel like making out Amazons monopol in the bookmarket as a good thing was a choice...
right…. not sure if that’s a “pro” vs a con we should be supporting.

Kobo Clara Colour is better than my Kindle Paperwhite
That's what I've been reading from a lot of people. They love their kobo more than kindle.
Instead I’m so disappointed using Kobo
@@samir.padilla why?
But the colour screen doesn't have the same contrast. If you're straight reading, get a black and white e-reader.

@josephhood1591 no haven't yet I'm happy with my 11th Paperwhite at the moment 🙂
Kobo battery life is not a problem. We charge our phone everyday and is that a problem? for me Kobo is better.
Long Battery life is an awesome feature since I am a casual reader and do not charge my e-reader everyday
Gonna get the Kobo just to spite her.
I read side loaded books on my PW so I rarely have page numbers, only those indecipherable "location" numbers. Unfortunately I am having my second round of loading screen freeze (first time was unfixable) and am considering switching.
And if you had a Kobo, you’d still get page numbers from side loaded content!

Boox Palma 🎉🎉
Kobo I prefer.
The physical book is superior
How
yea, if you only read in your bed.
Ebooks are amazing for avid readers who go through a ton of books. I love taking a small ereader instead of 20 books if I go somewhere.
What do you do after you finish your book? Getting rid of them is a hassle, isn't it?

I turn off the progress bar completely, and just enjoy reading.
