I am a new subscriber. Am enjoying watching. We have a food pantry in my area that does boxed packs. They come once a month. I don't always go but am so grateful they are there when I need them. The place that keeps me in food is a 'Bent & Dent' store. My local one is owned and run by the Amish. I will never understand why the corporate world thinks you need to throw out a item just because it is dented or the box corner is squashed. Heck... I don't eat the packages. And like you I have made some delicious meals from my purchases or pantry items. Sometimes you just need to think outside the box. Am enjoying watching. Keep being you.
Welcome to the Channel! Thank you for watching my video. I love shopping at the food pantry, it's a huge blessing. I've heard of the pre-packed boxes from the food banks, that's a great way to get the food out. Making meals from food pantry items is wonderful. Sometimes the perishables go bad quickly but for the most part, even if it's beyond the best by date, it's usually just fine for me. I like to get creative with my meals, too!
I’ve never seen a food pantry where you get to choose what you want. You’re so lucky to have such a great food pantry! My dad goes to a few where he lives and they have prepackaged boxes according to household size. He always ends up with a bunch of pasta.
Hi Sarah. Great haul. Sorry you haven't been feeling well. I love mushrooms, especially stuffed. I use my instant pot a lot. We got 9 inches of snow with an inch of ice on top. Lowes has small refrigerators starting at 229.00, we put one in our camper. Stay warm and safe. God bless.
Wow Sara that's a lot of snow! I hope your electricity is on and you are warm during this weather event. Mushrooms are fantastic! Stuffed mushrooms sound yummy. Thank you for letting me know about the pricing at Lowe's for a new fridge. God Bless You, too, Sara and have a warm cozy evening!
Instant pots are hands down one of the BEST things ever, especially in small spaces. If I can cook it in my instant pot, I absolutely do. I just got a 3qt to go with my 6qt for Christmas. Probably my favorite gift.
@@CareFreeLivingChannel my partner too. He loves it when I let him just tear into a hunk of meat for a couple days when I need a break from cooking lol we work different shifts and it’s easier for me to be the one doing the cooking and shopping
Today was my "big" food pantry day where I get to shop. My score of the day?? A bone in PRIME RIB ROAST! The cost of it is $46!! Ive never cooked one, but you can bet I will be Googling it to cook it for Valentines Day as its my husbands favorite

I'm so glad your power wasn't out any longer! Having those solar chargers is a great idea. Thanks for showing us the soup you made in the instant pot, it looked delicious!
I'm so happy you enjoyed the soup! It was really good. I'd like to make more home-cooked meals. We'll see how that goes! The power came back on in just a few hours. Thank God it went out during the day while the sun was still heating up my trailer, that made a big difference!
It was definitely made me feel better about using my pressure cooker because I've been terrified of using it I guess the old fashioned ones were awful but the newer ones are okay
I was concerned when I first got the Instant Pot, because I never used one. I don't open it until it's safe to do so, even if it means waiting longer than I want. Just makes the meal more tender!
You got a real score on the non-perishables with that 7th generation just so it is pretty expensive at trader Joe's but it's pretty natural and it's really nice
I’m so glad that you have an instant pot. They cook so many items such as beans and apple sauce. In Central Virginia, we got snow and ice Sunday night and Monday. The roads are mostly clear now. Stay safe in this wintery weather.
The Instant Pot is a good kitchen tool! I remember one year I got snowed in when I lived in the city. I just cooked all day, I had a stove then. I made apple blueberry bread, it was wonderful! Be safe and stay warm!
Expecting 4 to 8 inches of snow in East Tennessee in a couple days. Brrrr!!!! I'll have to break out the hot chocolate and coffee! Your haul looks delicious! The carrot muffins will be great with a cup of joe! Maybe I'll make some snow cream when it snows. ❄️🥶🙂
Oh yes it is definitely hot chocolate and hot coffee season! Snow Cream sounds fun. I hope you stay safe and warm as the snow arrives and your power stays on!
If you take that little tiny knob off the ginger, you should be able to regrow it. This summer, I'm gonna try to regrow some ginger. But I first have to purchase a tiny bit.
Excellent video! You are doing great making your little home cozy and welcoming. It reminds me so much of when I furnished my little humble abode with resale items. Good times.
Thank you very much! When I got my trailer, I did not have a whole lot. It took some time to build up to what I've got. The thrift store and dump have been good places to find nice things, plus Amazon!
Good videi! Hope u keep your electric threw these storms. They canceled our food truck due to weather that can cause frost bite for the worker's! Im glad they wont be out in that ! Hope you can get a new fridge soon ! ~ Tink
Thank you, Tink! Wow it must be super cold to cancel the food truck. Safety first, glad the workers got a break from the weather! When the snow clears up maybe I'll head to Walmart and see what they've got available for a new mini-fridge. Stay warm, Tink!
Hi Sarah I'm sorry you've been under the weather. Hope you will soon better 💕. I'm glad you brought Mr Turtle inside before the snow. I'll miss y'all Friday but I'll be back Tuesday
Thank you very much! Mr. Turtle is having a good time inside getting a break from the snow! He's a good little Turtle. Enjoy your weekend and see you next week!
That is so true! When the power went out, I thought "oh no!" but I have some backups just in case. I can always put on more clothing and bundle up but it's the little things like having some hot drinks that are so nice when it's cold. I was glad I had just boiled up water in my kettle! Having the hot tea, made it better. Thank God the power came back on very quickly.
Have you ever considered buying a second hand full size fridge ? I bought all my appliances second hand when I couldn’t afford them. I had a second hand dryer for 15 years!
Yes indeed! I visit Habitat for Humanity but the appliances in the best shape always sell out quickly. I might just run to Walmart and grab a new mini-fridge. I've had this one for years and it's lasted longer than I thought it would!
@@CareFreeLivingChannel If you can, try to get there as soon as they open and on weekdays if possible. You may still strike out, but it increases your chances of snagging those “OMG” finds ha.
We got snow but not too bad. Just enough to be cautious and the power went out only for a few hours. It was back on very quickly, thank God! Thank you for watching tonight.
Thank you very much! The food pantry had so many wonderful items to choose from. I enjoyed adding the leeks to the chicken soup. Mushrooms were fantastic! I enjoy cooking them, too. Thank you for watching tonight and God Bless You!
Hi Sarah! Nice haul and fun video. Glad you’re doing well with the weather and I hope you’re feeling better. We’ve got heavy winds, forecasted until the weekend. Today was my sons birthday-went out for a sushi dinner. Yum! Stay warm! 👋🏼
Hi Judy! Sushi sounds wonderful! The winds picked up here, too; it sounded like my trailer was going to lift off the ground. Then came the forecast for snow, and it's here! This has become quite a weather event and I'm glad I made soup. Have a terrific day, Judy!
thank you for bringing mr. turtle in. really good looking food for the week. it's a shame the salad froze! the soup looked really good. i admire the deserts - the brand of snack/granola bars should be good - gf, i think. i've had some of them in the past. i hope you can keep warm and cozy. see you next time.
Hi Karen! Oh yes Mr. Turtle is having a good time out of the snow and hanging with the Honey Bunny crew! The granola bars are good. So far, so good with the power. Since it was fixed, it has stayed on thank God! Have a wonderful night, Karen!
Thank you for sharing a part of your life with us. I've never used an Insta Pot. But I do love my crock pot. The meal looked good, minus the celery. Just not a fan of it. And I've never tried leeks. But I would definitely get a different fridge. Mini, small or normal size. Because frozen salad is just not a good thing. Stay safe & warm.
Crock Pots are nice, too! Celery has a distinctive taste for sure. I might head out to Walmart to see what they have for mini-fridges once the snow melts. I can always keep my current fridge for things like drinks!
Mr. Turtle is quite the gentleman and says Hello! The Honey Bunny Crew is trying to teach him mischevious bunny habits! Thank you for watching tonight and hope you are safe from the storm.
Me, too! I'm so glad they fixed it within a few hours. And I had a little hot tea in the insulated cup I got from the thrift store, that was nice to have!
I've had an Instant Pot for several years. I do put the food above the line, but not the liquid. Having said that, it's not advised. Stay safe. Especially if it's a food that expands like beans and rice. Your soup looks fabulous! Yum!
Good info, thank you for sharing it! The soup was right on time as it's gotten colder and the ground is full of snow. Nice to have a hot soup during this time!
My instant pits are my favorites. I scored a 6 qt at thrift store for 8.00 & I also have a 3 qt. I even cook gumbo in mine. Your chicken soup looked so good for a great cozy meal. Were supposed to get snow Thursday. It has been really cold here. And last week winds were 35-40 mph with gusts at 50 mph.
That is a great price for an Instant Pot, nice! I hope you are staying warm and the winds calm down. Be safe! PS - gumbo sounds yummy, especially in this snowy weather event!
Well, I'm really glad that your power didn't stay out for too long although that was kind of a long time as well. Hope everything is okay in the mini fridge.😊
Does your food pantry let you come weekly? I'm allowed twice a month. I was able to make it there today. We are truly BLESSED to have the pantries. Thanks for the great video. Be safe and stay kind
Hey 👋 another suggestion(s): do use coupons?! Maybe 🤔 there’s some coupons maybe (and great deals at the Dollar 💵 Store 🏬 as well as other places 👌🙌 thank you 🙏
Your food pantry is amazing.🙏 Thank the Lord for them. ❤ Looks like Blair skipped your area. Love mushrooms call me silly but never had leeks.💛💫 I need some medicinal healing properties myself!💫💛 Here in the country onion is an onion!!😂😂😂 My favorite is Pecan Pie.😍 I've never been to Starbucks no hankering to go! This was probably recorded before the storm. I liked the video!! Stay warm. 😇 Safe!!!😇
Thank you! The food pantry is a huge blessing. Leeks smell just like onions to me, they're good. Starbucks is a place I've been to in the past but prefer making my own coffee at home! I hope you are staying warm, too. The snow has arrived and it's a good time to stay home and make soup!
Wow! I cannot imagine no power for six days. I have never been to Canada, but I hear it's brutally cold there. Thank you so much for watching my video tonight!
I usally do not comment. Hi from sweden. I don´t know if any one told you this but the reason for your sallad getting frozen is because you fridge is empty and when you pack it full that causes the fridge to freze because the temp is to warm. Try and pack the fridge in turns instead. the meat first and wait 15 min put the diary in and last the veggies
Thank you for watching from beautiful Sweden! I did not know, thank you for sharing this info. I can give that a try and see how it works building up to a full fridge!
I hate snow. I worked for the highway department for 30 years until I retired in July. Having to be at work no matter how much snow I hate worked 25-26 straight hours several times. I'm so glad to not have to leave the house this winter.
I too worked at state hospital, I lived too far to drive in the snow, it was the big snow in Atlanta, lol...well my supervisor called me to come in early, bring Xtra clothes etc she had the national guard come pick me and another coworker who lived 2 exits past me, which we car pooled anyway...when they pulled that huge hummer in my driveway, almost taller my home..lol..my husband had to come out help me get up in it...what a day it was, we ended there for 3 days, too much ice on road so had to sleep in shifts, but we made it...those hrs added up, our paychecks was great, they had to pay us alot of overtime...but the next time it happened, I had just retired...thank goodness...we have no snow here yet in big A, but they said tomorrow, I hope you all keep warm and stay safe...😊
@madlenmuir5989 when you labeled "emergency personal " they expect you there. I've had vdot trucks pick me up at the end of my drive many times. I have a very steep drive with a huge drop off so there is no way they could pull into my drive.
@CareFreeLivingChannel so is my dear hubs. He is a snow plow driver and one of his routes is rt 160 from Virginia into Kentucky...it is the highest point in Kentucky and the road has terrible drop offs. I worry myself to death.
So when are juice bottles empty we rinse them and put water in them for storage just in case we lose power. Maybe putting them outside. Hope that helps you if in future you ever have another God forbid power outage. I was never in scouting but they always said. It's always better to be ready for anything.
They market those applesauce pouches for babies and toddlers but I love them for a quick way to boost my sugar up or try to get something in me when I feel rough I also love the precut celery and the mini cucumbers too Good to have when I need to fix a meal for myself for when my boyfriend wants something different or doesn't want something to eat right off😊
Thank you! I really wanted a cheese biscuit with my soup! But that's ok, sometimes things have gone bad from the food pantry. I'm glad the rosemary bread was still good!
Mushrooms are very good for health, they supply a "ton" of vitamin D if fresh like you got in your haul, and help with depression. Ginger if ground up fresh and made into tea helps inflammation and also an upset tummy. ❤🎉
I really enjoyed the soup! Adding mushrooms was a great benefit as the weather has become extra cold. I love ginger tea! Thank you for watching my video!
Wow… That’s low on food! What food?! 😮😢A I know you have some canned foods but now I’m worried . You doing ok? Love from Florida. Please know you can go to more than one pantry. I was so backed up I had to go to THREE food pantries! Some had fresh… some mostly canned, and I didn’t get a pay check for 2 weeks… living 5 ppl in the house.
I have canned food as a backup, thank God! The food pantries are a blessing for sure! I try to eat the perishables first then get into the non-perishables. I'm glad you were able to get what you needed from the pantries you visited. Thank you for watching my video!
@ ok, never stay too low on your stock pile ok? Your followers love ya! Make sure you have 1-3 months supply in water, medicine, vitamins, foods you can just eat straight out.
The food pantry is a blessing! Sometimes eggs are available but not always. You bring up a great example on food prices. Look at the price jump on those California eggs!
The chicken I got from the food pantry was frozen and it was fully cooked in 20 minutes. Just had to wait for the pressure valve to drop to safely open the lid. It was probably cooked in less time, but I like to be extra cautious when preparing raw meat!
My Man is always welcome to eat with me! He's actually a GREAT cook. He's made me many good meals. I'd love to get a stove one day and do some real old-fashioned cooking for him!

As always I enjoy your videos😊
Thank you so much for watching!
Nice food haul 😊
Thank you! I enjoyed this haul, too!
Well, I'm really glad that your power didn't stay out for too long although that was kind of a long time as well. Hope everything is okay in the mini fridge.😊
I did not open the fridge at all and so far what I have left seems just fine. Thank God!
@CareFreeLivingChannel thank God
Does your food pantry let you come weekly? I'm allowed twice a month. I was able to make it there today. We are truly BLESSED to have the pantries. Thanks for the great video. Be safe and stay kind
Thank you for watching my video! My food pantry allows shoppers to shop once a week. The food pantries and food banks are a huge blessing, for sure!
Good video❤❤
Thank you very much for watching!
Hey 👋 another suggestion(s): do use coupons?! Maybe 🤔 there’s some coupons maybe (and great deals at the Dollar 💵 Store 🏬 as well as other places 👌🙌 thank you 🙏
Oh yes! Couponing is a great idea. I use the Food Lion App!
Food looks good
Thank you so much!
Sarah I love watching your video what size jeans you wearing this is lottie I 💘 watching your video hauls on mini frugal living video
Awww thank you! I enjoy making these videos. So glad you like it. Size 12's are a good fit for me and I get my clothing mostly from the thrift stores.
Your soup look so yummy
It's been a great soup for me, so glad I made it! That chicken arrived just in time!
I hate power outages. Here in eastern Canada they happen a lot in snow and Ice storms. Last Christmas we were without power for six days. Nightmare
Wow! I cannot imagine no power for six days. I have never been to Canada, but I hear it's brutally cold there. Thank you so much for watching my video tonight!
I love my instant pot❤
It's a nice kitchen tool! I like the Instant Pot, too!
Where did you get that crock pot it looks cool
I bought it a few years ago on Amazon! I have the small Instant Pot and it's a great kitchen tool!
Having to be at work no matter how much snow
I hate worked 25-26 straight hours several times. I'm so glad to not have to leave the house this winter.
I'm happy for you to be able to stay home during Winter weather, too! I enjoy the beauty of the snow but do not like driving in it at all!
@madlenmuir5989 I hope you are safe and warm!
Hi Sarah
Did you get a lot of snow?
We certainly did with ice and they're calling for up to 12 more inches Friday and Saturday
Got a few inches of snow but nothing like what you are about to get! I hope you are safe and warm during this snow storm. And your power stays on!
So when are juice bottles empty we rinse them and put water in them for storage just in case we lose power. Maybe putting them outside. Hope that helps you if in future you ever have another God forbid power outage. I was never in scouting but they always said. It's always better to be ready for anything.
That's a great idea, thank you! It's important to be as prepared as possible, just in case. Good reminder!
They market those applesauce pouches for babies and toddlers but I love them for a quick way to boost my sugar up or try to get something in me when I feel rough
I also love the precut celery and the mini cucumbers too
Good to have when I need to fix a meal for myself for when my boyfriend wants something different or doesn't want something to eat right off😊
They are great little snacks! I enjoy the applesauce pouches, too. And they have good shelf-life!
I apply, peanut butter on my celery, pimento cheese, makes good snack...
You can make good banana bread and applesauce...yummy...
@madlenmuir5989 I love a good celery snack!
Shaving cream is good to clean the base of a toilet when boys miss the bowl. Hope that helps.
Oh good to know! Thank you!
place your celery in a jar with some water and it will stay fresh
Thank you for your suggestion, Lois! Good idea on the celery!
Wrap in foil it last longer
@pammolling5034 I'm going to try both ideas and see which one I like most! Thank you for watching my video tonight!
Mr turtle get warmed up it so cold ❤
Oh yes, Mr. Turtle is nice and warm all cozy for his snowy weather vacation inside!
Sarah I love watching your video what size jeans are you wearing thi
Thanks so much for watching! Size 12's fit good for me!
I'm thinking it could be OK. Because the vegetables in the Mushroom will cook down in size so.
The veggies sure did shrink down! It's been a good soup, very nutritious for me!
The soup looks delicious. I'm all about mushrooms. I hate your cheese biscuits were molded.😢
Thank you! I really wanted a cheese biscuit with my soup! But that's ok, sometimes things have gone bad from the food pantry. I'm glad the rosemary bread was still good!
Hey honey bunny and friends are you being good ❤
You know how the Honey Bunny crew is.... hopping around all hours of the night! And they're teaching Mr. Turtle to be mischevious!
do you get to "shop" your pantry weekly?
I'm allowed to shop weekly!
Are you in Utah? Some of the canned goods that say Deseret on the label are from the last churvh
Southern East Coast is my neck of the woods! Thanks so much for watching!
Mushrooms are so good for you. They will fix you up - along with the ginger broth - in no time!
As it's become colder, I can feel the draft coming through my trailer! The soup is right on time. I may make some more as the snow has not melted yet!
Must confess, I'm jealous of your hauls🥴 Do you get eggs? In Ca eggs went from $4 to $7.98 dozen last week!!
The food pantry is a blessing! Sometimes eggs are available but not always. You bring up a great example on food prices. Look at the price jump on those California eggs!
How long does any meat cook in the instant pot? Never had one and just curious.
The chicken I got from the food pantry was frozen and it was fully cooked in 20 minutes. Just had to wait for the pressure valve to drop to safely open the lid. It was probably cooked in less time, but I like to be extra cautious when preparing raw meat!
❤
Thank you for watching! Hope you are safe from the snow storm!
Oh honey bunny and friends so bad lol
I'm tellin' you, these bunnies get out of control! If I had a chandelier, they'd be swinging from it partying at night!
Looks good no onions for me
Thanks so much for watching!
How much weight have you lost??? Looking fabulous 👌 ❤
Oh thank you so much!
May I ask do you work or are you retired
RUclips has actually become my job and I love it!
wow your hair is dry
Burrrr
It's been cold and the snow has just made it seem colder than usual!
So why does ur man never eat with u? Lol but u never make him a plate
My Man is always welcome to eat with me! He's actually a GREAT cook. He's made me many good meals. I'd love to get a stove one day and do some real old-fashioned cooking for him!
❤
