Hello from Seattle! Interviewing with TikTok next week for an Android Software Engineer, Global E-commerce role 📲💼 Your videos have been invaluable. Big thanks! 🙏🎊
These videos are so great because of the professional insight you’re so open to offer and talk about so I really appreciate them. I’m not a fast reader and if the words could stay on the screen a little longer I would love that, but I would also love to see a video where you talk about the goal-setting frameworks you’ve learned and implemented in your career thus far! Thanks again for these video, I really love them!
dam 9am to 7:30 pm? thats your whole day man , why so many hours? i could not do that, i hardly put in 8 hours at my job, as long as my tasks are getting done no one tracks our actual hours.
Cool video man. I have been working from home since covid began and just recently they have started back to office once a month. People are absolutely hating it and we all commute a great distance. I notice in your videos that you have to go in but you end up not interacting with anyone else and the office itself looks like nobody is in it. Do you find that its an annoyance to take time out of your work day to commute and do all of the office things when you could save time and money by working 100% remote?
yea I don't show the interactions, but we definitely do collaborate often in person and it is very helpful, but yea agreed if you have zero interaction with your coworkers then it's pretty pointless. I do enjoy a hybrid setup, best of both
Im an Accountant that is wanting to pivot into coding/web development. I have it stuck in my head that ill be too "dumb" to learn how to code. What are some indications that I will enjoy or at least understand how to code? Thanks!
I would take an intro programming course and build your first personal project. If you are genuinely excited about learnings/building things, then you have what it takes :)
I really enjoy your videos but can you speak during them?? or do slower paced videos talking more about the experience and the culture? Can you explain why you keep going to different places? is it apart of your job to travel constantly?
that's great feedback, yes I definitely can, I am traveling to these offices mostly for team off-sites or business travel, it's not usual but I've been lucky enough to have the opportunity to travel.
@@armankhondker That's really cool that there are so many offices and things you can try! I'm just beginning my journey to becoming a software engineer and find these videos really inspiring and relaxing at the same time! I love the routine of it all and the hard work that goes into what you do. Very inspiring! Can't wait for more content!
Hey im thinking about moving to Texas and rent an apartment! Do you recommend your apartment? If yes can u give me the name and location of the apartment?
I was actually living in my cousins apartment for the weekend I was visiting TikTok Austin, but i'd definitely check apartments.com and apartmentslist, they will help you a lot
I’m very interested in pursuing CE for college but what’s stopping me from fully committing is the amount of math and physics which are not my strengths at all. Arman, what would be your advice for an individual wanting to pursue CE but math/physics are not their strengths?
I would say don't worry about those too much, you just need to get by and focus on your data structures/algorithms and fundamental courses to computer engineering. Math and physics are just supplemental, not at all the focus.
I think it's just about the same as working for any massive corporation. I find it amusing how americans are so blissfully ignorant towards the products/companies founded on their soil, while being overly critical of their foreign counterparts.
@@armankhondker these things aren’t mutually exclusive.. I can think you’re an a-hole for working for a company that rots the minds of the masses while still understanding domestic companies are also bad. It’s crazy how foreigners are so blissfully ignorant to the fact that Americans understand this.
It's refreshing to see an actual day in the life video of a job where the person is actually working and not going around doing other things while they are supposed to be working. Can't tell you how many times I see someone post a day in the life of (insert job title) and they literally do less then 2 hours of work all day. I get some people can get away with it but it's not reality for most. He seems like a great worker, but it looks like he put in a lot of effort and time into his projects. I hope he gets some time to relax too.
I appreciate the feedback, yea I tried to make it as detailed as possible with what an actual software engineer at a big tech company works on day-to-day. These videos are my relaxation :)
Thanks for such high quality content. You are yourself and that's a plus for sure. Currently learning UML diagrams and other technologies. You're inspiring. I would like to know some of the best ways I can improve my learning and become a better developer, apart from building projects, what are some of the daily things you did that took you where you are today. I'm looking forward to hearing from you and learning as well. Asking from the Congo. Thanks
appreciate you Fadhil, I plan on making videos that give some general career advice/insights and hope those will help you in the future, wishing you the best from Congo :)
If you don’t mind me asking, what was ur gpa and what clubs and extracurriculars did you do in high school? Also, did you do APs in high school? I’m a rising sophomore in Michigan and I have visited Austin last summer. I’m really want to go there after I finish university at hopefully UMich. Do you have any tips for high school? My dream job is working a software engineer too!
yea I plan on making a video about my background, but long-story-short yes, I would say just build useful projects for yourself with code and you'll be well on your way :)
Hey, thank you for your vlogs! Are you from Iran, India, Pakistan? I am in law school but my sister is studying Computer Science/IT so I started watching the videos while studying😅😂 Thank you for these videos!! Also may you please make a video on internships for people in undergrad like my sister and brother? And interview process after graduation and how to get hired?
appreciate it Jaime, our office locations are open to all employees and I have colleagues based in different offices, so it's easier to collaborate with them at their specific office. I mainly work from seattle/san jose offices though, since that's where our engineering team in u.s. is based.
I would say it depends on what time you start your day, but it definitely can go past with late meetings/busy weeks, it's usually up to the person on how they manage their tasks.
Love your videos man❤️🫡 I was wondering how you got your start in Software Engineering? If you could make a video about if this was your dream career or if you went to College/Bootcamp? 😄🎉🎉😄

we mainly gather business requirements from our product managers. I don't believe we formally have business analyst roles, though they may be called something different.
What's the purpose of choosing a desktop if you're changing like 5-6 different working spots? I think this continuous moving from space to space is really disruptive and likely just made-up for the sake of the video...to show-off how nice is the office... Also, what's the purpose of having lunch while working to save time, while probably the biggest waste of time is the continuous moving from place to place?
yes part of it is for video, but it really isn’t that big of a deal lmao. If you are doing light unfocused work, totally not a problem. I definitely have heads down coding days of working 4+ hours in one spot, but that’s not as interesting :/
I guess you have already thought on this but... you might consideer to use a keyboard when you arer working on the big screens instead of using the laptop keyboard, more comfortable. And problably a mouse too, it might be faster.
