    That Ford GT is one of my dream cars and it is still one of the most beautiful cars to ever roll on 4 wheels. It still has very impressive performance numbers in 2021. Crazy to think the new 2020 Ford Mustang Ecoboost with the High Performance Package is a turbocharged 4 that has more horsepower at 330+ than this 2005 Ford Mustang GT V8 and all with better fuel economy. Wow, that is what you call progress. I definitely wouldn't mind owning one. Thanks for these retro reviews. They really help tp put in perspective both what we have lost and what we have gained in the automotive world.

    • @StandingUpForBetter
      @StandingUpForBetter 2 года назад +1

      @@Lucille69caddy Close reading helps. Yes this Ford GT has 550 hp with its V8 and that glorious sound but is it also pretty impressive you can get 330 hp out of a turbo charged 4 and have that with a warranty.

    • @Lucille69caddy
      @Lucille69caddy 2 года назад +2

      @@StandingUpForBetter I can read. You distinctly stated that your little turbo 4 popper has more hp @ 330+ than the 2005 Ford GT V8. Modern boosted V8s are putting down over 800 hp, compared to your turbo 4 @ 330. Everything is relative.

    • @StandingUpForBetter
      @StandingUpForBetter 2 года назад +3

      @@Lucille69caddy You are right! Thanks for the proof reading. I just fixed it. You do read closely. I am sorry. I left out the word "Mustang". As you know, you can boost just about anything for insane numbers but making that engine last and backing it up with a multi-year warranty is something else. Sadly, I don't have a turbo 4 Mustang but hope to get one, one day. I live in very expensive CA where gas is high, home prices are high and politicians are set on stealing more money from tax payers despite people like me trying to expose them. Because of all this a RWD turbo 4 Mustang with 330+ horse power (aka the heart of the amazing Ford Focus RS) and great fuel economy combined with a 6-speed manual sounds great but for about the same money, Nissan has done a fantastic job with the upcoming Nissan Z with its 400 HP twin turbo V-6 and a 6-speed manual. That might be the car for me. Keep enjoying these amazing vehicles because there will be a time you will not be able to buy a gasoline powered car with a manual transmission new and who knows what the aftermarket prices will look like after that happens. Keep setting people straight! Happy holidays.

    For me the 2013 - 2014 Mustang killed the older s197 chassis cars, they make the 2005-2009 s197 look dated unless they are heavily modified appearance wise. Compared to the new 2015+ the 2013 and 2014 still look modern, I think the lights have a large part in that.

    • @cali2468

      Kara G The update for the S197 started in 2010.

    • @karag6556
      @karag6556 6 лет назад +3

      MOST H8D Yes but it was reupdated in 2013, which is what I am referring to, the plain halogen lights and unpainted lowers and plain hoods make the 2010 - 2012 all look just as dated stock, the 2013 and 2014 update is what I mean.

    • @cali2468
      @cali2468 6 лет назад +1

      Kara G Sorry, I have to disagree. The 2010-2012s look nowhere near as dated as the '05-09. Not even close. The first S197's were horrendous especially after how great the New Edge looked.

    • @cali2468
      @cali2468 6 лет назад

      Kara G The updates on the 2013s was nice but from afar it's hard to tell the difference between a 2010 and a 2014 unless you know what to look for. The 2005s...now that's a different story.

    • @karag6556
      @karag6556 6 лет назад +1

      MOST H8D Well I am stating that as a mustang person, knowing what to look for, the 2010-2012 make the 2005-2009 look dated but my point was that the 2013 - 2014 make it even more so with the lighting, bumper, hood vents, and painted lowers as well as the premium 13's and 14's with the fancy lcd in the gauges, those features to me keep the 13 - 14 feeling more modern than any older s197 but 05-09 being more so than the 2010-2012.

    It is subjective but the 05-09 Mustangs were the best looking. Modern but you could actually see the 64.5-66 in them. My sister and her husband have an 05-06 GT and it doesn't have the extra pair of lights in the grill. Better that way I think. Feel free to disagree.

    What's even crazier; less than 15 years later, there are factory stock Mustangs that are quicker. Hell, even a base model 5.0 with headers and a tune will run well into the 11s 🤯
    Although, this car is still on a totally different level in every aspect.

      Robert Smith they never went that low. Jay Leno got his new for $139,000. I’m sure you could not get one any cheaper than that. I saw a red one like this on the showroom in Colorado in 2006 and it had a $172,000 sticker price, and that was in its second year of sales.

      They can actually do 60 inn4.8 seconds that ain’t nowhere slow even for today’s standards but some Z kids think 800 hp is a shit but any car with over 500 hp is useless if you cannot handle the power.

    • @BKJP1998
      @BKJP1998 6 лет назад +3

      Well the first part of your statement was a bit underwhelming. I think the new car is a performance marvel but I have to agree that its not worth $400k or whatever they are asking. Maybe $200-$250k completely optioned out.

    • @ap1237
      @ap1237 6 лет назад +2

      automan224 the new GT does not have an automatic transmission. It has a sequential manual. It has a clutch pedal. It's not an automatic. I agree the new GT is expensive, but it is literally a racecar and last time I checked racecars are very expensive. The new GT out performs the old GT in every way.

    • @KB-bh9hp

      automan224 The new one not only exceeds the old gt's performance in every way but it also feels better to drive like more nimble/fun/soulful to drive.

      I think you need DOHC to operate more than 2 valves (I know it’s technically possible to run 2 intake valves and 1/2 exhaust valves from a single OHC, but not really practical and rarely done). Could be wrong though. I had never thought about it before, but I assumed they were SOHC as well.
