Adam's lessons are out of this world! Useful content, excellent delivery and detailed example. Also, the layout and the little pauses in between keep us engaged. I have really learned a lot. I would surely recommend to anyone who needs them.
An excellent lecture. More people need to watch this video, especially in Asia. This is so pitiful that the channel is still not receiving its fair share of value from subscribers.
Thank you sir! , you're great. To learn and use these basics grammar properly and build on that is actually important to make sure that we are using it correctly and not to loose easy band on this
@@IELTSBandUp Hi, can you help me? What are the other ways of writing 'solution' in academic IELTS writing when it comes to problem and solution essay?
Hi Sir, thanks for keep guiding us! I keep reading all your emails and watch your videos too. I'm preparing for my ielts exam still I'm bit nervous and scared. Looking forward for your adviced . Thanks in advance.
Thank you. This was a general lesson on articles. I really expected you, as an IELTS teacher, to link this lesson to IELTS by giving some example sentences from IELTS writing task 2 or by asking viewers to correct some mistakes students usually make with respect to articles in IELTS writing task 2. Everything should be linked to IELTS!
Thanks for taking time to give feedback. I really do appreciate it. I get these kind of comments a lot. I do have videos that give specific feedback on grammar and articles are in there. I also stress the fact that IELTS is a test of English proficiency anything that helps with that, is definitely useful. A lot of people think that there is some secret to doing well on an IELTS test but Cambridge has spent millions and millions of dollars to not make the test easier with tricks. You do need to understand the test format, but at the end of the day, you need to be proficient at English.
@@IELTSBandUp Thanks for your reply and your endeavors. There are numerous videos on articles on RUclips and elsewhere, and if someone is interested in learning about articles, they can watch those ones. As you may know, A person who watches your videos wants to improve their IELTS score. From the standpoint of a person who is going to take IELTS in one month, I still strongly believe that if grammar videos are linked to IELTS, and if IELTS teachers pinpoint grammatical errors in IELTS writing, this will significantly help other students improve their IELTS score. I didn't mean tricks. I was just talking about teaching in the right context.
@@IELTSBandUp Hi. May I ask you a question? I'm a new English learner, and I have a question to ask. I've some problems with nationalities and articles. Can you tell me the difference between them and explain which is correct: 1) Russian 2) The Russian 3) Russians 4) The Russians. Which one is correct if we're talking about people living in Russia? And what is the difference?
I do, but I'm a bit expensive. Currently I work at a university and I do some online work with a company in China. If you are interested, please send me an email to ieltsbandup@gmail.com And i wish you all the best. :)
Thanks very much. You would only use 'the' in that example if both the speaker and listener know exactly which school is being referenced. Now there are some examples of when we use 'the' always like, the beach, the hospital. Those are just fixed. As I mention to my students, it's a stupid rule, but it's a rule. :(
It's correct because the can be used before countable and uncountable nouns, Plus in this context the speaker and The Listener would know which money they are talking about so the should be included here
I can`t really get it. Why is there an indefinite article before an adjective and a noun which is uncountable (А deep/clear UNDERSTANDING of something)? I have been looking up any information on the interent, but I haven`t found anything. I mean, the word "understanding" is uncountable. How come it has an indefinite article.
because it's idiomatic which means it can't be explained logically with grammar rules. Instead, treat it as a fixed expression. It is definitely strange because 'understanding' is not countable.
Sound and noise are nouns. We can use them both as countable or uncountable nouns. Both refer to something which you can hear, but when a sound is unwanted or unpleasant, we call it a noise
Thank you for your video! Unfortunately, I find this topic kind of tricky. The sentence is: "Buy candy for the students who will win the contest." Why is the single noun "candy" without ANY article? And why is it "candy" rather than "candIES", as we are talking about many candies, not one... And why there is "the" before "students", I mean, there are many of them, that means it is a plural form... This topic is much harder than it seems to be :)
You can say ''The Adam''. The Adam whom you would regard as the best teacher no longer exists. Only in situations like this can you use ''the'' with a proper noun. Or am I wrong? Please correct me if I'm mistaken.
dear prof, I usually read some plural and uncountable nouns is written after the, for example, the money or the cats are these examples wrong and in your video you said when i went to school why school has not articles before
as a general statement 'to school' is more correct. But if you say 'the school' that is showing that there is only one school that you and the listener/reader are thinking about. And 'the' goes with plural and countable nouns. I how that answers your question.
@@IELTSBandUp if it is a general statement and the noun in singular. use in this case (a or an) or without the article for example I went to a school or I went to school
