Thanks to u my vocal range has got higher form C5 to an G5. Today when I saw that I could do G5 notes I was like "bruh". My vocal range literally increased in a week
I've been singing in choirs since Age 8 but now at age 74 I'm still singing in a choir but find getting to E/F/G5 is really hit and miss. Sometimes it happens easily but others total disaster. Hoping you may have done a session on the aging voice. Really exciting finding your newly discovered vids.. so helpful. What a bonus finding an Aussie !!!
Well here I go again. I have done the sirens many times, but only from my lowest to highest, and back again but love the way you do them. Also the lip trills, I accepted they were obviously a part of singing properly, but it was never explained WHY we do them. Now I know. Hope you don't get tired of hearing from me, because I think I may be forever thanking you!
I've found that my range is higher when singing scales versus singing actual songs. I can stay in chest voice up to about C5 when singing scales but I can only stay in chest voice comfortably up to G4 when singing songs.
When you say we anatomically can sing about 3,5 octaves, which registers do you count? Just the full voice (chest & head) or all the registers combined (fry, full voice and falsetto)?
"No dear, you are a soprano. You just do not know how to make those sounds yet." said my first voice teacher. She got me most of an octave I was not able to reach before. Unfortunately I have misplaced it in the last decade.
How much is your exercise CD? Dan, when I went to the 2 year college, they had us do the vocal sirens first! Aww man, bummer! OK so what should we do to warm up before the vocal siren stuff? What is the 1st few tings, to warm it up, and not injure it?
Hello Dan, do you have any videos of increasing or maximize the LOWER RANGE? I have not found one at your channel, if you have one can you please link it to me? if you do not have a video for it can you please make one? I think there are more people than just me that wants to increase/maximize the lower range. I have sadly not found any videos on RUclips about extending the lower chest voice range😢 I know about techniques as subharmonics, fry and strohbass but I really want a lower chest voice range. My current range in chest is rock solid B1-F#4 all in chest and I am 18 years old and have been singing for 2 years. Extreme notes for me have been A1 in choral setting and G#4 in lesson and both had power.
Dr Dan, could you share music for lip trills, you have used in this video? I'm generally looking for some music to suit my morning vocal exercises. Thanks:)
Sir, I have a question. How many times should I practice in a day or how many hours? Because, when I was taking a bath earlier, I was practicing to extend my vocal range and I reached G4. That was, uhm I think, 30 mins? Then, when I went home from my work, I practiced for more than 30 minutes. Also, every now and then, in my work place, I was trying to practice (it's awkward for my workmates lol). Now, my throat hurts a little bit with apparently sandy feeling. Is that normal? By the way, when I went home, I reached G#4.
Hello, I have 2 questions. 1: how much time do I have to do everyday this exercise (brrrrrrrrr) 2: Do you have a video showing how to to it because I can only do this using my tongue like (Drrrrr) instead of (Brrrrrrrrr). Actually I can do this while I am in the shower and there is water passing throught my lips. Do I need to vibrate my lips too or just the tongue is ok?
I greatly appreciate your videos. I have to say that the sirens reminded me of the skeksys from the movie the dark Chrystal. also I would like to know why no one talks about ways to lower ones voice. I have a nice bottom end already but I have lost some of the notes I used to be able to sing. I used to be able to get down in the bottom of my in-laws old upright piano. due to that I sang bass in our quartet.
It'd be nice if my voice could go deeper. My average speaking voice sits in my lowest notes of my range, so it doesn't sound as versatile going down when I can go almost 2 octaves above it in comparison. Maybe deeper is where some of my "dormant" range lies. Either that or I'm a hidden whistler.
I am C2 to D4, E5 with falsetto. (I just tested) Only have about a two octave range that's solid. I really want to work at my upper range, but I just don't see much improvement after half a year of trying. I'll take any advice anyone has.
I got stuck in a similar place and only recently started to develop past that. The problem probably is incorrectly placing your voice and tensing. If you remove all strain especially in the throat as you get higher move into a more nasally place, feel your resonance further into your nasal cavities if that makes sense! Good luck!
Thanks for your clarity and your way of putting the message accross. I am a singer. I believe that the only way to sing better is go into the depths of our knowledge and put ourselves to the test. The more we know ourselves the better we will sing. I am very glad to have found your channel. ♥ Regards from Argentina!
I'm just hitting a plateau, no matter what exercises I do I can hardly hit D5. Feeling really desperate, cause I feel like i've tried everything I used to be able to sing F6 I've seen an ENT and there was nothing wrong with my vocal cords so I'm really confused
2 Octaves is a very workable vocal range. Hi, R. Ramirez. You may find my online singing course helpful - drdan.co/onlinesinginglessons. Feel free to check it out sometime. The first module is free to preview!
I'd like to believe but I just know how my voice is. I do better in higher humidity environments. Here in the desert of Arizona, which I affectionally call Aridzona, the weather plays games with my voice. Over production of PND and the constant clearing of my throat.
Dr dan , somehow we were disconnected but my request is this, would you please send me your mailing address namely because I would like to mail you a check in appreciation for all your help to me vocally ,you are a consummate gentleman and an equally consummate vocal intructor, thankyou Dr Dan,my best ,Theodore( Tony )Grau
This is so wrong information about the vocal range , there is no limitation to your vocal range , i was a bass before but now i can hit the alto range easily ....all you need is a voice recorder and lots of practice. Sing a lot and you don't need to do these stupid things in order to improve your range. It's up to you .
Thanks to u my vocal range has got higher form C5 to an G5.

What u did?
My range has definitely extended by using the exercises on your CD! I feel so much more comfortable singing in higher keys now.

Scot, there will often be a difference between the scales and a song.
@@DrDanRobinson why will there be a performance difference?
Vice versa for me!

Ouch, I've been doing sirens almost at the beginning of my warm-ups for ages (not the very beginning, but almost).
Tamburellino, just move them to the end of your vocal warm-ups.
