Crazy how at the time Gordon seemed to be on another level but by his own standards he didn't have much wrestling or guard passing here. In fact, most of his offense and passes come from falling back and conceding position. I usually ignore Gordon's self promotion of how he used to "suck" but he's right that he's improved leaps and bounds in only a few short years which is all the more impressive since he was already the top guy. The man has singlehandedly evolved BJJ technique and grown the sport.
Common now. To me he's the greatest athlete of the sport and is a major factor in popularising his game. But it was definitely not singlehandedly.

The Russian Bear fight was ridiculous. You could see the shame on Eddie Bravo's face as he handed the win to the big mope that just sat on the floor the whole time. Literally no attack whatsoever and he still won... there should be a provision for that kind of thing not happening in the future.

well tbh the arm wasnt that hyper extended, he was in the safe zone here. Craig made the misstake of showing gordons limb empathy and also expecting gordon to tap.

he had some kind of fungal infection in his stomach that caused him to temporarily retire but I think the main reason he hasn't gone to MMA is because his coach advised against it

I sometimes find certain submission matches kind of ridiculous: two guys trying to leg lock each other as there's nothing more they can do. F*ck other sumbmissions, sweeps, guard passes, takedowns, controls and dominant grappling, I need to heel hook this foo.
If submission only was created because point system was lame and boring, try watching two guys sitting on their butts with legs entangled over and over and over again.
