Enjoyed GI Joe throughout the 1980s. But I gotta say as an adult toy collector; it's the 90's Joes that intrigue me the most. Hope you give the '90s some more love - great vid!
I always thought the version 3 ace was a pleasantly weird surprise. The sculpt and color scheme legitimately look like a figure that would have fit in with the 1982-84 line. (which is fitting because the original Ace could easily pass for a 90's Battle Corps figure.)
The 90s were my decade and I approve of all of these. I had a few from 89 or maybe 88, but I was super into GI Joe from about 90-93. I had that Ace as a kid (from a trade, since I never had the cool jet) and loved him. He was my default pilot for everything. When I finally got the internet and an interest in GI Joe at the same time, later in life, I was baffled to see the original Ace looked so goofy and "Sci fi" compared to the one I had. Especially because older fans in the community constantly talked down about the stuff I loved and grew up on.
I picked up a black and white storm shadow figure at my local comic book shop moc for 10 bucks last month, that was my first 90s joe, most my collections is from the 80s, but after this video I am def going to go back and take another look at those later joes.
Even though I watched the animated series in 1985, I was mostly a Transformers collector until 1991. That year I began collecting G.I.Joes, my first was Dusty with Sandstorm, which I am surprised didn't make your list, but I have to say I do agree with your list. The Desert Scorpion is still among one of my favorite figures of all time.
Mine would be: crimson guard immortal, Dusy v.3, snow serpent v. 2, roadblock v.4,. Very short list since at this time in the 90s, I had moved on to other toy lines.
I think there's a lot of 90's figures with some kind of '80's feeling', and they are great: Hawk (with sunglasses), Big Bear, Red Star, Iceberg (with yellow mask), Dusty (with beret), general Flagg.
All great choices. Both Big Bear & Red Star would be on my list of awesome 90's figures... also the Cobra Interrogator & despite, or even because of, their bright colours V2 & V3 Alley Vipers would be up there too.
I picked up a few of these back in the day. The gimmicks of spring loaded oversized rocket launchers and Playdoh body armour quickly got tossed in a box, but the actual figures were pretty decent!
Very good list. Other '91-'94 figures that I think were also pretty awesome and easily fit in with any '83-'90 figure are: '91 Dusty '91 Heavy Duty '91 Mercer '91 Red Star '91 Sci-Fi '91 Interrogator '92 Big Ben '92 Destro '92 Duke '92 General Flagg '92 Gung-Ho '92 Roadblock '92 Cutter '92 Headhunter '92 Mutt '92 Shockwave '92 Slice '92 Storm Shadow '92 Snake Eyes '93 Bazooka '93 Beach Head '93 Col. Courage '93 Nitro Viper '94 Lifeline '94 Flint '94 Snow Storm '94 Metal-Head '94 Stalker
Good picks. I think the generic Headhunter trooper also deserves some attention since it apparently had a neon green release that hurts its image while, kids like me, bought it with a gold paint scheme. This made them look like they had a place in the Iron Grenadiers.
Hi Kevin, Very nice Vlog, congrats...! Here is my 1991-1994 top ten figures..! (countdown order): 10 - 1991 Heavy Duty 9 - 1992 HeadHunters 8 - 1993 General Flagg III 7 - 1991 Cesspool 6 - 1994 Shipwreck 5 - 1994 Joe Colton 'G.I.Joe' 4 - 1991 Interrogator 3 - 1992 Headman 2 - 1991 Desert Scorpions 1 - 1991 General Hawk Honorable mentions that almost fit in this top 10 list : 1991 Dusty; 1991 Big Ben; 1991 Snake Eyes (yes, surprisingly, I really like this figure - not the accessories); 1991 Tracker; 1991 Incinerators; 1992 Storm Shadow; 1992 Cobra Commander; 1992 Overkill; 1993 Zartan; ; 1993 Colonel Courage; 1993 & 1994 Roadblock (astronauts); 1994 Night Creeper leader. Even ((in my case) being, a mostly 80's collector, and having the opinion that a crisis of identity for the G.I.Joe line was not letting Hasbro create the most awesome G.I.Joe figures within 1991 to 1994, I agree, there are indeed some concrete awesome figures within these years. Very nice Vlog, congrats...! looking forward to a, maybe, 1986-1990 top ten figures Vlog in a near future, besides this one and the one you already did: 1982-1985 top 10!!
Ok my top 10 figures are: 10 - Snake Eyes - v4 - 1991 9 - Nunchuck - 1992 8 - Dice - 1992 7 - Slice - 1992. both my dad and I love ninjas. 6 - Duke v3 - 1992 5 - Interogator - 1991 4 - Dusty with Sandstorm -1991 3 - Metal Head -1990 (I know he is not 91-94, Still a great figure). 2 - Capt. Grid Iron - 1990 (again i know he is not from 91-94, but still a great figure) 1 - General Hawk with the Jet pack - 1991 . Yo Joe
What no General Flagg?! I would also place Big Bear, Red Star and the Headhunters on that list. Bravo for including the Headhunter Stormtrooper didn't see that one coming.
Hell yeah! CG immortal! One my faves. With the crazy double guns. I was stoked to get a knockoff funskool version for my wall. And a couple other ones i always thought were rad. And thanks for reminding me about action league. Big ben. Yeah! Hmmm.... What about Battle corps Keel-Haul?
I had my 1994 battle corps shipwreck since I was in kindergarten and still have since I first bought it . And when I saw action league now on all that and kablam battle corps shipwreck was known as stinky diver.
Hi Kevin, Loving some top 10 lists you do from time to time...! I know abusing of them can turn your channel into a subjective opinion source rather than a reviewing channel, but 2 or 3 a year can be really enjoyable. Specially if they have a positive approach. If they are pointing to negative rankings they can easily offend part of the audience. Therefore I would like to suggest over here some ideas for some possible top 10 lists: The first idea could be a 'Top 10 of most playable figures', this is, those figures that had a very well balanced in their concept and accessories that you could almost play with them with no need of having other figures, vehicles or playsets around. Those figures that, when being a kid, you maybe got as a present while being on a holiday with no other toys and you enjoyed 200%. Some possible examples of these figures could be: 1989 Stalker; 1984 Zartan; 1982 Flash; 1982&1985 Snake Eyes; 1983 Snow Job;; 1985 Quick Kick; 1984 Firefly; 1984 Storm Shadow; 1985 Alpine; 1985 Snow Serpents; 1986 Beachhead; 1983 Duke; 1988 Blizzard; 1988 Hit&Run, 1990 Ambush; 1984 Storm Shadow; 1989 Gnawgahyde; 1990 Sub Zero; etc...
I gotta say I much prefer 93's black/silver with red accents cobra commander than the talking commander one. Bright blue with bright yellow just doesn't look good.
i liked the battle corp beach head. there were some nice figures from the 90's, just not a lot. i guess it had to do with trying to tap into the social commentary at the time.
I don't think I've ever seen an astronaut wearing orange and especially in a movie about astronauts they always seem to be wearing white suits just pointing it out. What really has me puzzled is you mentioned a version of cobra Cmdr. where you can see his face? Is this a version I'm not for mail your with I don't member there being a action figure with his face being visible other than the super lazy 12 inch 1990s line they did a cobra Cmdr. and dastrow with removable masks and two figures look almost identical and to add to the said laziness a lot of us are pretty certain they use the head and body that was used for a failed 12 inch streetfighter action figure line and merely through G.I. Joe uniforms on m bison figures pawning them off as cobra Cmdr. and dastrow. Ironically there was a 12 inch cobra trooper that look more like cobra Cmdr. than the 12 inch cobra action figure ;) been meaning to get the uniform off of one and make a custom 12 inch cobra Cmdr. action figure but never seem to get around to it.the 12 vintage hall of fame figure if I were member correctly was the one you could take and switch the uniform and it looked the way cobra Cmdr. should look like. I forget if it was the uniform itself hat was what you switch from one to the other to get the cobra commander from which to which but I'm sure somebody will correct me of which one of the two had the more cobra Cmdr. style uniform versus cobra Cmdr. style head.dastrow looking like a very generic action figure without his mask on was just so un-excusable. If I were member of the storyline correctly from cartoon correctly supposedly he had never had the mask off since he was here young was something to do with a family curse. Therefore he should of had no hair and had a very pale almost colorless kind of phase. I'm surprised you didn't mention the bat troopers from cobra I could've swore they had a few really cool ones that come out in the 90s.i still like different variations of the robot footsoldier managed to find a 12 inch one at Walmart a few years ago didn't know they had made a 12 inch version of the bat troops;). I'm familiar with a couple of different versions between the 80s and 90s I'm not really a hard-core collector or anything like that it was just one of my favorite toys as a kid and I still pick them up at yard sales secondhand stores and such I've got quite a few vehicles that are missing all manner of pieces every so often I find more pieces here and there and piece them together lol.
oh give that a look . The one I was talking about with a removable facemask is from the 12 inch line and as a super cheesy head sculpt which I think was ahead from another toy line.i'm a glutton for punishment where I keep ending up with the 12 inch G.I. Joe's from the 90s usually they are given to me I've lost track of how many are scattered around here in random boxes with action man figures from the 90s and 2000 toy lines of the Alex Masters action man toys I doubt either of those toy lines will ever be worth anything the same as most G.I. Joe fans brutally hate the hall of fame 1990s figures.i usually take pity on the 12 inch figures and pick them up where if it wasn't for me getting them they end up in the landfill. At some point I've got to look up action man see if those toys sell for anything yet.
What's your opinion on Lanard's line? Some of their vehicles are awesome. There's a helicopter called the Rain Fire that could very well be used as the Cobras' Tomahawk... what about a video about the Lanard Corps?
Enjoyed GI Joe throughout the 1980s. But I gotta say as an adult toy collector; it's the 90's Joes that intrigue me the most. Hope you give the '90s some more love - great vid!

That Shipwreck version is one of my all time favorites and I grew up with the early 80s joes.
The 90s were my decade and I approve of all of these. I had a few from 89 or maybe 88, but I was super into GI Joe from about 90-93. I had that Ace as a kid (from a trade, since I never had the cool jet) and loved him. He was my default pilot for everything. Yes! The Crimson Immortal was such a cool trooper.
Hi skabcat242,
What would be your 1991-1994 top 10 figures list? Or at least a top 5? I put mine here above. Thank you. :)
Mine would be: crimson guard immortal, Dusy v.3, snow serpent v. 2, roadblock v.4,. Very short list since at this time in the 90s, I had moved on to other toy lines.
I've always liked that version of Cobra Commander. His missile launching gun thing was pretty nifty as well.
I think there's a lot of 90's figures with some kind of '80's feeling', and they are great: Hawk (with sunglasses), Big Bear, Red Star, Iceberg (with yellow mask), Dusty (with beret), general Flagg.
All great choices.

I picked up a few of these back in the day. The gimmicks of spring loaded oversized rocket launchers and Playdoh body armour quickly got tossed in a box, but the actual figures were pretty decent!
Very good list. Other '91-'94 figures that I think were also pretty awesome and easily fit in with any '83-'90 figure are:
'91 Dusty
'91 Heavy Duty
'91 Mercer
'91 Red Star
'91 Sci-Fi
'91 Interrogator
'92 Big Ben
'92 Destro
'92 Duke
'92 General Flagg
'92 Gung-Ho
'92 Roadblock
'92 Cutter
'92 Headhunter
'92 Mutt
'92 Shockwave
'92 Slice
'92 Storm Shadow
'92 Snake Eyes
'93 Bazooka
'93 Beach Head
'93 Col. Courage
'93 Nitro Viper
'94 Lifeline
'94 Flint
'94 Snow Storm
'94 Metal-Head
'94 Stalker
Good picks. I think the generic Headhunter trooper also deserves some attention since it apparently had a neon green release that hurts its image while, kids like me, bought it with a gold paint scheme. This made them look like they had a place in the Iron Grenadiers.
Hi villainsrule,
What would be your 1991-1994 top 10 figures list? Or at least a top 5? I put mine here above.Thank you. :)
I liked the battle corps flint figure. for a 90`s figure is quite decent desert theme , and the weapons were black too.

Nunchuck is badass! love your list Kev, Me and my twin brother picked up Red Star back in the day and he would be on my list for sure.
Captain gridiron was one of the best from the 90's
Both nunchuk and big ben look like great figures, let alone for the time they were released
Great list Kevin! I had a lot of these figures. While I did enjoy the Ninja Force, Nunchuck was my favorite figure from that sub team.

What no General Flagg?! I would also place Big Bear, Red Star and the Headhunters on that list. Bravo for including the Headhunter Stormtrooper didn't see that one coming.
Hi magnificentfungizoids,
What would be your 1991-1994 top 10 figures list? Or at least a top 5? I put mine here above. :)
Basically what is listed above plus Colonel Courage would be my top 5.
never seen that Shipwreck and Big Ben figures ,they 'r pretty cool !
I was surprised the non yellow beach head didn't make your list. I am a beach head fan so I am biased.
Great video, man. You may have sparked my 90's interest.
Great video
I had my 1994 battle corps shipwreck since I was in kindergarten and still have since I first bought it . And when I saw action league now on all that and kablam battle corps shipwreck was known as stinky diver.
Subbed. awesome backdrop!! That reflection on your glasses is fukkin with ya, isn't it ?? lol
I thought those were boots on CC he just had his pants fit over them. Big Ben reminds me of Tunnel Rat.

Desert Scorpion looks like he has Lowlight's head.
I gotta say I much prefer 93's black/silver with red accents cobra commander than the talking commander one. Bright blue with bright yellow just doesn't look good.
i used to have joes when i was a kid. they tend to break their arms and legs
i liked the battle corp beach head. there were some nice figures from the 90's, just not a lot. i guess it had to do with trying to tap into the social commentary at the time.

Storm shadow. Is better. Black & white 92. Thank you
Totally agree. Best looking Storm Shadow in the vintage line.
Hi Stewart,
What would be your 1991-1994 top 10 figures list? Or at least a top 5? I put mine here above. Thank you. :)
Hi trwright7,
What would be your 1991-1994 top 10 figures list? Or at least a top 5? I put mine here above.Thank you. :)
Battle Coptor Ace flies my SkyStriker. I hate Space Suit Ace. I won't buy him.
First!!!
um....hope u got the time to reply to the question i sent about a few months ago....i was on facebook messages...
Sorry, I missed your questions months ago. Those figures are "The Corps" by Lanard Toys made in late '80's to '90's.
What's your opinion on Lanard's line? Some of their vehicles are awesome. There's a helicopter called the Rain Fire that could very well be used as the Cobras' Tomahawk... what about a video about the Lanard Corps?
