Glad it was helpful! I recently changed my setup though. I recently changed from the Daiwa Beef Stick to the Okuma Crab Snare Special. I had to cut off 9” off the handle because it was too long as very uncomfortable to reel where I was hunched over. Went to Home Depot and got a 1” chair end cap to stick at the end of the handle. Now that I modified the length, it’s much more manageable and I love it. Also downgraded to a Penn 650ssm, smaller so it’s lighter and using 80lb beyond braid.
@Durasnare how has the 650 reel been working for you compared to the 850? I’ve recently picked up some of your snares and a Daiwa beefstick. Now looking at penn battle either in 6000 or 8000. All things being equal I’d prefer the smaller size since I haven’t used gear this large before. My current surf perch gear is basically steelhead gear. Works well in the Oregon coast.
@ I love the 650ssm because it’s smaller than the 750 and 850 which I have used previously. I really don’t need that much line on my spool and I don’t snap my line so 650 is more than enough for me. However, if you snap or snag, you may end up having to respool. The 750 and 850 are significantly heavier.
Top shot of mono is much cheaper than all braid! I recently changed my setup though to 80lb of beyond braid. I’m still able to cast far with my Okuma crab special rod.
Excellent video, thanks Lawrence! Great explanation, to the point, no filler!

I need to get a reel like that!
@@brandongonzalez9824 Penn 650ssm! 750ssm will work too if you like more line.
This is the smart video. THANKS!
I like using 50lb braid with a top shot of mono. More casting distance.

Nice work! Okuma model number?
