- This is my record and heartfelt reaction to the events of Saturday 25th of May 2024, when, having missed the official opening day, and having battled my anxiety on what seemed like the longest wait ever, I was ultimately disappointed, and didn't get my first ride on Hyperia. Hopefully it also explains why this disappointment affected me so badly.
Thank you for indulging me on this video, it is a very personal video that I wanted to share.

I believe that Saw is closed for 2 days to facilitate the repairs to Hyperia.

I was similar to you back in 2013. terrified of coasters. but I got on the swarm backwords for my first every big coaster. I loved it. and its been a slow build since then. It wasnt until I rode shambhalla in portaventura in 2022 that I full got used to the hight and speed of coasters and I now Love them and have almost no fear when riding.
This is where I hope to be one day, I am going to Portaventura and Energylandia this year and hope that I will find my fearless.
It is upsetting and it’s a testament to you that you’re doing this for yourself, nice job.
I have seen a lot of people complaining about Thorpe Parks decision and it does baffle me because… they wouldn’t shut it, if it wasn’t necessary. It’s a ball ache for them to have all this press about it closing.

I totally agree, I think the park have been dealt an awful hand and are handling it really well.
its well worth the wait! I got to ride it on 24th, both 2nd to back and 2nd to front. morning and night ride. its amazing and I cant wait for you to finally get to ride it once its open again. the seats are honestly the best seats ive ever sat in for a roller coaster. better then shambhalla, zadra and hyperion's seats. ill be there monday the 3rd! I hope its open again by then
I'm hoping to get front and back row rides at some point, I've heard the difference is crazy!
@@PeggVentures yh it is defo worth doing both, I got 2nd front and 2nd back. and it 100% warms up in the day. 11am 2nd back row the drop was amazing. and the hand time was amazing on the outer bank and stall. 2nd front at night warmed up was more intence. more airtime
I also got a second to front row night ride and a near back day ride and I agree it was insane and well worth the wait

They have announced it isn't opening until at least the 8th June now! I went on the 26th May, was absolutely gutted, however, all of the other rides were under an hour queue so I made the most of those for the day. I wont be heading back until later in the year when the teething problems have died down. It is such a shame that they made such a statement for the opening, only to close it a day later. It is like giving someone their dream gift and then grabbing it back. Slightly embarrassing for Thorpe Park really - I have always had some sort of issues when visiting regarding ride closures.

Unfortunately these things happen, its quite normal for issues during ride opening, with bugs and tweaks usually required, so unfortunately no one can be blamed and its just one of those thingsand should be expected tbh, this is the exact reason I specifically didn't go, im planning later in the season personally, and always wait a few months so I don't experience these things, but you live and you learn, I've had similar issues in the past. safety comes first thankfully, im glad MACK are taking no chances.and fixing the issue.
Me too! Safety has to be the number 1 priority, and yes teething issues will happen, and tweaks will be needed before the ride is fully reliable.
I honestly don't understand why people would go the first weekend of a new coaster opening, I have followed this ride since announcement but waiting 5 hours to potentially ride a rollercoaster that is highly likely to have teething issues/closure is just beyond me.
The queue on Saturday wasn't that long, I guess it's the same as the people who queue overnight for the latest PlayStation or whatever.
On Friday the 24th I waited for 7 hours(including the hour or so wait outside the park) but the wait for the night ride was around 2 and a half hours but I did wait for it to get dark and honestly I didn't regret either waits
I've got to wait until September for Hyperion, Zadra, Red Force and Shambhala so a few extra days should be OK.

as said in my video, they need to do soft openings. Industry leaders (Universal & Disney) and Europe best theme parks (Europa Park and Phantasialand) do EXTENSIVE soft openings before the official opening. Merlin (which would struggle to operate an hot dog cart) think they can open straight away... it is just a LACK OF RESPECT for guests. period.
And people like me wouldn't be left feeling so bad!
Did you not see the carnage of Voltron's opening?
Voltron opening wasn't so bad. They stalled a train and didn't open on Friday. But ran consistently the days after. We had to wait between 60-90 in the opening week, which isn't too bad for a new ride.
@@simonr6268 They did open it on Friday, the opening day. The stall was before the warm up on Thursday. It's been running with extremly little downtime since
