Thank you for the video. FYI I do have a rental tool program for the HB install/removal tool also, but not many people are returning them so email me for availability.
What did you use to seal up the timing cover and water pump, did you use the 2 w/p gaskets and anaerobic sealant. I’ve seen your supposed to use the paper gasket and anaerobic to mount the w/p to the timing plate. I’ve done the job once and used the paper gasket to the plate with the right stuff rtv, but developed a coolant leak 1 week later
I made a water pump video if you search for it. Done 2 6.5 pumps this way and never had a leak. Gasket dressed anaerobic sealer on inner plate. Gasket dressed with hylomar blue on cover.
Love Leroy stuff👍. I put in a new ac delco damper and pulley two years ago...but still thinking of switching to fluid damper. What's the verdict....did you see a great difference??
Engine runs good---however, main benefits I believe will be at higher rpm and I haven't really driven it much yet since I got it back together. Just because I'll never have to replace it and can swap from truck to truck as I buy/sell, seems worth it to me.
I was doing quite a lot of engine repairs on this suburban at the time and filming stages of it. I had also replaced the injection pump and you have easier to access the 3 bolts for the IP when the water pump is out. So when the 260k mile water pump was out I replaced it as well. Now you don’t need to remove the water pump to do the balancer or pulley, but more space to work makes everything easier. If you’re considering replacing your water pump anytime in the near future, it would be a great time to do it when installing your balancer

Can I ask why you removed the water pump? Replacement or access for it? I’m going to be grabbing these parts soon
