Jerry was skinny back then....So was I! That old R.Q. Jones was a major break through in the dobro world. Rudy was the first to really make um sound good. This is classic stuff. You've heard it over and over,but you never get tired of it.
I remember when Jerry's first solos came out on the Whites and Ricky Skaggs records. Nothing like them had been heard before. These two also arranged some jazz tunes like "Spain" by Corea.
The fiddle player I believe is Hoot Hester. He played a lot back then on Nashville Network and Nashville Now shows. Good player. It's definitely not Mark o'Connor.
uhhhm... the mullets look petty tame, plus the color changing eye-glasses... I'm gonna guess early nineties.... i think jerry actually looks younger now!!! damn they can play son...
I hate the sound of a bass player ahead of the beat, it makes all the solo instruments sound lazy or draggy. Nothing against Jerry or Bela, but that bass player has no feel.

Looks befit the show, it's killin music, that is to say, very nice..IMO
This was definitely Jerry’s studliest period.
Classic
agreed 100 %. Mark is way above him and all others :)
Play 2nd open then note it at the 1st fret, pulloff of it then note 3rd at 2nd fret and pulloff of that than do the same thing over and over
I completely agree. Maybe the monitor situation wasn't the best. At least it's not throughout the whole song, just sporadic.
Yes! I was guilty too.
I'd love see dueling banjo's with a dobro

The 80s were terrible, but this is great!
I can´t help thinking Hoot looks like an amish that sneaked away to have a lil fun ;-)
My Mother had glasses just like jerry's. No moustache though.

Flux!
That is NOT Mark O'Conner!
@MrCooterbruzer Yeah, English is hard to understand....
we all looked like fucking idiots in the 80s, this is actually not bad...check out John Cowan's look from around this time if you don't believe me

@zmgriffith You got me.
Yeah Jerry Douglas truly is matchless but he does kinda look like Will Forte in MacGruber in this.
@toffetoff lol
@MrCooterbruzer And what the F is wrong with that?
Did everyone in the early/mid eighties wear coke-bottle glasses?
