Clarissa Leung what about it was so bad? I have the cast recording from it and I LOVE it. I also have the DVD of the Australian production, but I jus love Ramin and Sierra together so much more. I have their performance of Phantom together and LOVE watching it.

A lot of the scenes had weird, out-of-place jokes in them, many of the stage designs were quite poor and the stage was often empty (for example the Waltz intro consisted of Mme. Giry in front of a see-through canvas with a fairly abstract animation projected on it as opposed to the huge carnival in the Australian production). Some smaller things: - Beauty Underneath had Phantom walking around in his not-so-cool lair while Gustave followed. Many silly jokes, nothing like the cool scenery in the filmed production. One skeleton and a small chandelier if I recall correctly. - Raoul never returned to Christine at the end. - Phantom only wore the mask once or twice, and throughout the 2nd act he was without it (including while he sang Devil take the hindmost). There's really no mystery to him and he openly talked to Giry during their first scene together. - Bathing Beauty had Meg actually go topless during the last chorus (with her back turned to the audience). The cast was great and so was the music but unfortunately the production itself didn't do it justice. I'm glad I saw it but the Aussie version absolutely brought it to the next level especially with its stage designs.

ALW is absolutely right, the cast for LND was never the problem. Sierra and Ramin's chemistry is perfect, they are both amazing actors and singers. They are EXACTLY who they need to be for LND to succeed. The problem for LND was everything else; the plot, the setting, and the music according to some of its negative reviews. I love Ramin more than Ben, but after watching Ben's Phantom on LND, I found him to be a great contender to Ramin voice-wise and also acting-wise. What Ramin has over Ben that makes him much more Phantom to me is his chemistry with Sierra. Those two filled the 25th RAH production of POTO with so much... feeling... like the stars were aligned on that night. Magnifique! That's how I felt. And it can only be encountered a few times in a lifetime, so I'm glad at least POTO was filmed.

I mean they did ok, but R & S is just so much better! IMO. You can feel their love for each other (Phantom & Christine) can feel the passion, etc. I just don't get that from the other cast. But, it's better than having no DVD of Love Never Dies at all. It'll have to do.

@@g2growcya nah. If u checked out the LND RUclips channel you will realise that they did do proper recordings of the stage with Ramin and Sierra. Maybe ALW thought its not good enough I mean many pointed out that the production wasn't that good. And the Australia production was a better one

So glad someone else agrees with me! Now the creative team needs to make an Audio Recording wth the Australian cast (I love to listen to music in my car) and a Blu-ray/DVD of teh orginal London cast. That would be perfect! :)

Yes, the London production ended and it went to Australia. The DVD of the Australian cast came out just last year I believe. It's pretty good overall, but I enjoy the clips from the original London cast myself. IMO, no one does a better Phantom then Ramin or a better Christine then Sierra. But that's my opinion, lol. I watch the 25th DVD of POTO 1-2 times a week and Love Never Dies at least once a week. I also watch the 25th anniversary of Les Mis, as Ramin is in that as well as Enjolras :)
I agree 100%! Bot casts from London and Australia are so talented but so different. Not just vocally but acting-wise. I don't think anyone is better then the other. Just different.
I'm not a hater of ramin AT ALL. I absolutely ADORE his phantom in poto but Ben Lewis captured my heart when it comes to LND. I just can't picture another phantom besides Ben.
I agree, Ben Lewis is wonderful. Though I do prefer Ramin’s Beauty Underneath, simply because a more contemporary voice fits it better. That aside Ben is much more suited to the role (in either production) than Ramin.

I have to apologize. When I purchased the dvd, I assumed that the cd was also Australian since I was not aware that there was a cd from the West End cast.
Yes it was re edited, because lots of people complained about the characters in it being too different from the original, especially Phantom and on that I have to agree. Going back to the original portrayal of his charakter helped the story a lot. Sorry but Ben and Anna don´t sound similar to Sierra and Ramin to me. Ben has much deeper voice than Ramin and Anna has completely different voice colour than Sierra.
I can not find anything for the Australian cast in regards to a CD. Only the Blu-ray and DVD. I only saw the West End cast in the CD section. Is there something special I have to type in?
