I love that you build with XPS foam, they are very reliable unlike the water absorbing EPS cored ones. I would really like to see: - XPS blanks CNC hollowed. -Less hotcoating. -Engineered foilboxes, no PVC blocks but carbon tracks connected to deck and bottom lam with carbon tubes. -Carbon+Innegra skin for impact. If i can DIY a 5.9 x 17 x 75ltr XPS wingfoil board at 4.1kg with pad and (metric) strap inserts then the industry should too. IMHO 1 kg, even 0.5kg makes a board dreamy to ride or a boring lead sled.
thanks! the problem with hollowing out is that we can't pull in vacuum anymore, as it will collapse. So unfortunately we have to keep it solid. contantly trying to get the weight down, however there is a limit if you want to keep it strong!
Yes, my Appletree Jazz 62 might be a little bit heavier than other comparable sizes from some other brands. But honestly, I just LOVE the way it feels under foot. In regard to my 50L Slice V3 and 37L Pro Foil V2, at that size, they just feel super light regardless so I never even gave weight a second thought on those. When try other boards from other brands it often takes me a while to get adjusted because they just don't feel as responsive.
