    Thanks for the video, we just picked up our EV9 yesterday and were searching for videos on how to make LV4 default. Coming from a tesla, this is a big hassle but not a deal breaker, this car is so much better than our MY and MX. Hopefully an update fixes this. I dont care about the efficiency of regen braking, I want to not use my brake pads up

      Unlike Tesla, basically every other EV car leverages regen with the brake pedal first - to the point where mechanical brakes are needed in addition. With the EV9, go to the EV screen so you can see the power output of the car. Hit the brake pedal and see the power output going negative.

      @hege750 the EV9's ipedal is probably twice as strong as a Tesla. EV9 brake pedal is very rarely touched, I just hate having to turn it on everytime I drive.

      @@RegularJoes My point is, you won't be wasting energy using the brake pedal in EV9. In Tesla, you will.

    This is actually dangerous if its automatically changing to lvl 3. If you are always switching to i-pedal, and then get in the car one day and it doesn't remember your setting, you are going to run into something because the breaks never kick in.

    There’s one other shortcut that automates the amount of regen. You can hold the right paddle for a few seconds and it puts the regen into auto mode. That uses the adaptive cruise control to set the amount of regen. It also stays on when you start the vehicle.

    I came to your video looking for an answer to this. Not the answer I was looking for. I find the lack of level 4 retention to be a safety hazard. I get in the car and expect it to behave one way and it reverts. It is scary when I don't expect my car to start rolling and it does. This is really tough going back and forth- for someone who certainly prefers level 4, this stinks Kia.

    I have a suggestion video for you. I can’t find any info out there on turning the “fake” acceleration noise off. I’m also reading some complaints that the car warns you with annoying beeps about driving, staying awake, etc. maybe you could do a video going into detail about these two things and talk about if they’re an issue or not

    Great Video. Just picked up a tester for the week and found this out as well... not impressed by this in particular, however the vehicle as a whole is pretty darn good!

    +1. It's better to keep ipedal on all the time.

    They def need to give the user an option to have it always start in i-Pedal but do realize that full regen is actually not necessarily the most efficient. The balance between slowing the car down and the electricity being put into the pack is a delicate one. Choice is king for sure but they likely did it because Level-3 might be the most efficient method.

    • @SammyGeek
      @SammyGeek  6 месяцев назад

      It seems odd that it would be less efficient though since level 3 is adding less energy back when slowing...

      @jmanjr 6 месяцев назад

      @@SammyGeek agree. What’s been shown is that the amount it slows the car down (taking away distance) vs the amount of regen it doesn’t pay. But I’m with you 100%. I’d rather take the minute slight hit and get a full stop. I have a Tesla Model Y Performance and once you get used to it you never want to go back. Pretty sure I’m gonna get an EV9 as well.

      Yeah they really should allow whatever the setting is to be sticky from one drive to the next. And ideally tie it to your driver profile so that different drivers can maintain a different preference. This is one area in EV’s where different drivers in the family will very likely have a different preference and it seems kind of obvious to have that tied into their respective profile.

    My whole screen on the dash just went blank. I’ve got like 5000 miles on this vehicle. Out of nowhere just decided to not work.

    I don't think this car is marketed at the nerds that bought teslas to drive to work for them while they write code. It's for people who want to drive but cut fuel cost .

    I've had my EV9 since January. I like Level 3 as a default regen. I think it's a good middle of the road compromise, particularly for those not accustomed to full regen. One click of the left paddle gives you level four regen. How hard is that?

  • @kakashi3543

    To maximize the range of the car on the freeway I believe you should keep the regenerative function to zero.

      I Believe you are correct! Regen does not capture enough energy to make up the loss in momentum.

      Coating use no energy and in the highway to keep speed you'd need to remain on the accelerator which uses energy. Off the pedal then you are stopping and you don't want that for highway driving. @@SammyGeek
