    Had mine nearly 4 years before it decided to jam on some oily beans. Pro-tip: if you take it apart to clean the burrs, MARK THE BURRS FIRST so you put them back exactly the same. It was terrible and was looking at sending it for re-alignment or something, but rotating around and finding the original position fixed it. And really, the burrs were fine, it was the chute that was clogged. I could have saved a lot of trouble with a gentle poke from a chopstick (be careful not to bend the declumping things, but if you do, take it apart and bend them back)

    I bought this grinder around a week ago after a great deal of research, for which your videos were incredibly helpful. (both your thoughts generally on the machine and advice on setting the grind size initially). I couldn't be happier with it! it helps to produce incredibly complex and textured espresso with my Gaggia with a consistent grind quality. Many thanks!

    3yrs is not that long. I have a Eureka Mignon from 2015 (made in 2014) which is all chrome and came with the tall hopper as standard from the store. Am using the same burrs and it grinds for two people (4 or 5 double shots) every day. I love how heavy it is and how the chrome work is so lustrous.

    100% agree with your review Tom. They are great grinders and we use ours every day. You're absolutely right about the adjustment wheel. Ours is used exclusively for filter. I designed my own bellows hopper to take a 75g charge and then a couple of pumps at the end and no retention. I strongly suspect this grinder will outlast me. 32K subscribers eh, the count is going up. Great to see.

    This thing is a beast, picked it up slightly used for like 100€ under msrp and I love it. It's not huge so it doesn't take up that much space on the kitchen counter, grinds very well and as you mentioned the noise it makes is very low/tolerable as compared to other espresso grinders. You simply can't find anything better for espresso for this price, and the nearly full metal build is fantastic. 100% recommend this grinder. And again, I really can't understate how the size of this grinder is so nice and compact, especially compared to others in the price range that are so tall or take up so much space it's ridiculous. I love it!

    Excellent review! This was a contender when I was shopping around for a new grinder. The coffee retention was enough of a factor for me that having to add the additional step of having to use bellows was ultimately the deal breaker (as well as being aesthetically unappealing). It is very quiet, but at the cost of a reduced speed at which it can grind 18g of beans. On the other hand, with its small fooprint and the price point this grinder sits at, it does provide light and fluffy grinds that a lesser quality grinder may have trouble replicating, by producing more clumps and a more requisite WDT into a workflow, where this becomes less of a thing with the higher quality grinders.

      @@TomsCoffeeCorner I ended up picking up an Olympia Moca SD (single dose) flat burr grinder. Very small form factor and footprint. Low retention, and grinds 18g in ~6 seconds. The grinder is actually constructed to be slightly tilted forward, to help with this. The trade off for that speed, is that it is loud and produces static. RDT has addressed the static, if not the sound.

    I bought the Turbo version of this grinder it is exactly the same only difference are the slightly bigger burs and have been using it for about 3 months. Really love the grinder and amazing espresso.
    Until i did the maintenance cleaning. I cleaned the chute and only removed the upper burs to clean some leftover coffee.
    The grind settings now all of a sudden have changed alot i needed to go way finer then usual to be able to reach a normal espresso extraction.
    But the biggest problem is the coffee doesn't taste the same anymore no matter what i do and im absolutely confused as what could have gone wrong.
    All the extractions taste the same watery, no sugars, acids or bitterness it's so weird grinding finer or coarser nearly doesn't change the flavours at all.
    Anyone have any tips or trick what i could do ?
    I already triple checked with multiple RUclips videos to make sure i didn't displaced anything but the build is simple and you can't really go wrong there.

    Hello Tom, A little late to the party. I enjoy your videos and no nonsense approach to making good espresso at home. I understood from your video that you had a Ceado grinder in the past. A part from noise, how would you compare the performance with that of the Specialita? Currently using a Kinu M47 Simplicity hand grinder for espresso (2 double shots per day). I would like to get a solid electric grinder that will produce consistent grinds for espresso. I am looking at the Ceado E5P with 64 mm burrs (opens up the option to swap to speciality burrs in future) and the Eureka Mignon Zero with 55 mm burrs for single dosing (like the Specialita but without the timed dosing). It’s difficult to decide because of all the noise on the internet and the current popularity of white brand products. Any input you can provide based on your personal experience is appreciated. Thank you.

      Hi Antonella, thanks for your comment. If you want, you could schedule a short Teams meeting to talk about it via my website. There's a lot to talk about, to boil down what's best for your needs. I am biased towards the Eurekas, because in my opinion, they provide the best build and grinds quality for the money. Sure, white label products can do well too, but they are lacking heritage and resale value. The Ceado was nice, hard to adjust though. I like that the Mignon line is a bit smaller. Anyway, reach out to me if you feel like via my website. Cheers! Tom

    Hey Tom, loved your videos! I have delonghi dedica and I'm using hario skerton plus hand grinder with it, however, according to the videos on youtube, it's not enough for a bottomless portafilter with non-pressurised basket in it (which I have) and it's nearly impossible to grind the beans fine enough. Some RUclipsrs observe 1:2 ratio espresso output in 28-29 secs with combination of dedica and hario grinder, some couldn't. I've tested mine and the flow was about 20 secs, which is so fast. When I grind with the finer setting of the grinder, surprisingly the water did not even flow appropriately (it was so slow). Also I experience channeling as well although I use WDT and do proper temp. I've switched to fresh beans and will try them in a week but Idk what to do to increase the quality and cream of my shots. Do you recommend buying a nice grinder such as eureka specialita or one of your recommendations for delonghi? Cause, it's more more expensive than the machine itself. I'm stuck at the moment. Any suggestions? Thanks very very much in advance.

    • @TomsCoffeeCorner
      @TomsCoffeeCorner  Год назад

      Yes, I recommend getting a proper grinder. It will last you years and years, and then you won't have a bottleneck in your preparation if you upgrade to a nicer espresso machine. Grinders are more expensive because they are not as mass produced, and also they require a powerful motor, which costs money. Cheap espresso machines can be built with small parts that are pretty economical. Also, the Eureka is built in Italy, whilst all cheap coffee machines are made in China. Just food for thought,

    is it good enough for the linea micra? thank you!

      I'd say so, yes. It's an excellent grinder all around, and the Specialita line is known for producing consistent grinds. Just get a bellows to bang out any remaining grinds in the grinds chamber.

    Is this grinder good to use in a coffee truck?

    • @TomsCoffeeCorner
      @TomsCoffeeCorner  7 месяцев назад

      Sure, but I might pick something with larger burrs for a faster grind, if you're doing high output.

    I compared the Specialita with Sage Smart Grinder Pro. I took the Sage, silent and good grinding results and half the price

      Well, they are much different grinders. Flat vs conical. Larger vs smaller motor.
      But I mean for the price, the Sage is nice, for sure. 👍

      I changed from the Breville (Sage in Europe) SGP to the Eureka.. it's a world of difference in grind size adjustment, clumping and sound levels. The SGP is a good grinder, but I greatly prefer the Eureka Mignon.
      I will say I love how the SGP handles a really wide range of grinds and has really nice timing functions based on selected grind size.

    Hi all, what if my kid brought the blades up too much, i mean more than two full 360 rotations after the blades closed?

    • @TomsCoffeeCorner
      @TomsCoffeeCorner  Год назад

      Then the motor would likely stall. In the worst case, the longest it will run is 60 seconds, even in manual mode.

    • @TomsCoffeeCorner
      @TomsCoffeeCorner  Год назад

      They make cheaper variants of this, starting already at like $329. That's the Notte: amzn.to/3ql0oiF
      It doesn't have the silent technology or the display, but does have the same motor, and 50mm burrs.

      Notte/Manuale is fantastic! It is loud but I only make 1-3 coffees per day. Very simple machine and very consistent grind as Tom demonstrates on his Specialita. No timer but I weigh each dose
