Jim Bob wouldn't like Jeremy because Jeremy is protecting Jinger. Without Jeremy's intervention, Jim Bob could easily suck Jinger back into the fold. The best thing that they did was to move to California.
The very little I know and have seen makes me see Jinger as very strong. Jeremy may have been a catalyst, but she would have done it regardless. She grew up in the kind of environment that breaks you to the point that you don't know how to move left or right without permission. And something in her fought tooth and nail for survival and her own kind of freedom. She can carry her own sword.
Do Y'all think that's why Jinger invited JoyAnna and some of the others to California to talk with them about their Cult ?? To get them to open their Minds about their Parents ?? Seems like they don't care about the influence that Jinger and Jeremy have on the kids but They Still Don't want Jill or Derrick around them ???? Weird !!!!
It’s inspiring to see so many of the Duggar children, especially the girls, to call out their Church and their controlling father. Can’t do anything but help and warn others against getting involved or fleeing from this insidious cult.
It’s very telling to me that it has ONLY been the girls to speak out though. The IBLP is ALL about protecting the men, and putting men on top, even if that means women and children suffering. I’m always telling my white 7 year old son that he was born with all these automatic privileges so it’s even MORE important he stick up for other people who aren’t being treated well. I sure wish the Duggar boys felt the same…but self awareness isn’t exactly one of their core values, so….. In a lot of ways, it would be even MORE inspiring to see a Duggar MAN speaking out! Though he’d very quickly get slapped with a “woke” label or something for actually caring about women’s rights (eew).
I feel a lot of these kids are smarter and more perceptive than they appear, but they’re bound by fear of the parents so they can’t speak freely and honestly, or are in arrested development.
I don't think Jeremy is being rude at all, he's just excited to tell how he feels. Everyone is always talking to Ginger and tbh Ginger is ALWAYS the one talking in interviews. Give the man a break, he just wants to express how he is feeling and how all of this has affected him too. He has a right to speak and express too :)
I agree, though Jinger IS the draw. Without her, not many would be interested in Jeremy. He has every right to share his feelings/experiences, but they all, (for purposes of this interview), revolve her life experience. In fairness, he wasn't there when these things happened to her.
Jeremy and Jinger are like a lot of couples. They start and interchange their sentences as one. They are in sync with each other. Also, it is interesting to hear Jeremy's perspective of Jinger's family. Jeremy is a good man. He helped Jinger find herself and become a wonderful independent woman. Bravo to this lovely couple.
I was watching this show at work early in season 1 or 2. One of my co-workers was very quiet during the show. Eventually, she said, "The older kids are raising the younger kids." She really opened my eyes to that. I think i didn't pick up on it because my sister and I were the eldest 2 of 6. My dad had abandoned us and didn't pay support. My mom had to work around the clock to keep us fed and housed. It was an absolute necessity. But after my co-worker pointed it out, I couldn't unsee it.
@violet04nunya98 Thanks, she was amazing. She was a nurse. She passed about 10 years ago from cancer. I had the privilege of being her primary caregiver. I wouldn't trade 1 second of that time for all the money in the world. And I mean that sincerely.
She was a gift for you and she helped you become what you are today. And you showed your appreciation by caring for her in the end. What a beautiful story. I’m inspired myself. 💐
My dad is the oldest of 12 born in the 40’s so looking back now he’s 81 and can see that he had to grow up fast and help out with siblings.. all that effects you later in life and how you parent with traumas
It's disgusting how Josh is still not cut out from his family but Jinger needs to walk eggshells and not advocate for what she is owed in order to not be cut out. Sa is a worse "offense" than wanting to be compensated fairly for one's own labour. Jill's actions werent "unwise", JimBob is being abusive.
The circumstances of Jill and Jinger breaking from the cult were very different. Jinger was not harassed and exploited the same way Jill was about filming. Jinger was never forced to have the births of her children filmed. Jinger never had cameras following her around for the first two years of her marriage. Because Jill was the first daughter to get married and her dad's favorite daughter, things were much tougher for her. About the money part of it, it was easier for Jeremy and Jinger to say they were not going to fight the money because Jeremy had already made over a million from being in professional sports. On the other hand, Jill and Derrick were struggling to pay their bills.
I agree 100 percent !!!! Jill wasn't treated right .....At all !! Jill and Derrick were Struggling ! Plus at least they went to another Country to Witness to Others and to Bless them with Food / Clothes and The Bible etc.!! Jeremy and Jinger didn't !!! And,,,, They weren't followed around all the time with Cameras in their faces!!! Also, Especially when giving Birth!! Oh My Goodness!! My wonder Jill wanted some Money !! She Deserves It !!
@@SusieQZee. I thought his favorite was Jill, because as a child, Jill seemed to be very compliant. I thought Jessa would have been the rebellious one.
I was thinking along the same lines. It's extremely privileged to be able to say "we chose not to make money an issue". That's something you can only do when you HAVE money. Jill and Derick was working as volunteers abroad, they had no income and were expected to finance their mission work themselves. They HAD to make money an issue.
I think it’s important to remember that Jill was the first one to start pushing against what she grew up with, she was somewhat of a trailblazer and is paying the consequences by being cutoff from her family. Hindsight is 20/20 and Jinger is able to benefit from what happened to her sister.
It’s only the girls calling out their upbringing. I imagine because the boys enjoy the status of being in charge of their wife and family. Very sad situation for the children.
Or the fact the older girls had "buddies" to raise and parent. The older boys did not have "buddies" they weren't parentified they had very little responsibility a few yard chores and thats about it. The girls were bogged down with responsibility all the inside chores including feeding the horde and doing the laundry for them all ontop of raising 2 or 3 small children each and trying to get thier own school work done. Of course the boys have no issue with the system
Most of the boys are 100% dependent on JB for their livelihoods. Unless some miracle happens, as long as JB is alive they will never be independent or able to criticize their upbringing.
Yes, the boys can't say a word, although John David seems more independent. The boys in that family lived basically chore from. The girls did all the housework. There was an episode in which Joy Anna was cleaning the boy's bathroom. Apparently the girls had to take care of the boys' needs and it was said because it was "training" for when they married.
In my opinion Jeremy was excited to just let the audience know how he felt being asked such a personal question. He didn't expect it whereas Jinger looked at it as normal. I would have told them to mind their buisness! Good to see Jinger voice her opinion about the cult she grew up in.
I was thinking the same thing. But he’s got some things going on that aren’t necessarily right and I think they’re following a man who’s not good. I don’t know enough to make any opinions yet, so I simply saw him being a little too excited to answer questions. But I will say that I didn’t like how he was interrupting and talking over Jinger when she clearly had something important to say. He should’ve waited until she was finished before saying what he wanted to say.
Publicly, she leaves her parents out of it because of the NDA and wanting to still have some relationship with her family. But privately, she may feel differently.
Ok. You guys probably know this, but Jeremy is Italian(or at least from the Northeast if I'm wrong). So he talks a lot, and expects you to jump in when you want to say something. Jinger grew up being taught to Listen to her husband, and had to Learn to voice her opinion. I think they are a great couple. They love each other. They just were raised very differently, obviously. Also, notice how Jinger did Not Stop talking when Jeremy interjected. Good for her. Her confidence has grown immensely!
I agree. Whilst I'm not American, so unsure of the regional differences, I definitely noticed that Jinger did not "act sweet" and stop talking when her husband interrupted. She just continued until she got her point across. Considering how she was raised, this means that she must have been encouraged by Jeremy to not stop talking and to continue the conversation, because her actions go against her childhood teachings. It didn't seem like he was trying to be rude (even if it might look that way to an outsider), or that both of them talking was abnormal, because he didn't glare at her or chastise for speaking, and she didn't look annoyed or worried as she continued speaking. It looked like this was normal for them.
I agree. I was thinking about my three kids and the youngest, my second daughter, is like Jeremy. She is opinionated and likes to talk A LOT. My middle child, a girl, would just end up being quiet. My oldest, my son, would argue with the youngest but it didn’t deter her. She’s an English teacher now and I know she enjoys being “on stage”. Actually, we all are teachers and the middle one now talks and is well-respected for her knowledge but it wasn’t that way when they were little. She’s actually much more like Jinger.
It’s obviously you don’t like Jeremy. I saw the entire interview and thought it was very good. Jeremy explained things very maturely and with great wisdom. I know nothing about Abby & Matthew’s situation. I did feel uncomfortable when Matthew stated while they were dating how he almost “got out of there” several times without saying that he was glad he stayed and now has Abby as a wife.
@vickycash1643 Um, I think you may have misread the thread. People are coming up with reasons for Jeremy's talkative nature, not hating on him for it. Plenty of other threads on here cleary dislike him, but on this one, most of us have been discussing the points they are raising and kind of mooting them (for instance, OP, Susan, and I all pointed out that Jeremy clearly isn't trying to be disrespectful to his wife and that he is probably just naturally a talkative person).
Matt and Abby knew who the Duggars were. Jill and Dereck have been on their podcast too. They opened up about they're issues with Jill's parents etc ....
The first episode I ever saw of the Duggars was one where Jim Bob and Michelle were telling the kids they were pregnant again. Not sure how many kids they had then, but more than 10. The look on the older girls' faces told it all. They were polite about it, but you could see that dread back then. It was sad to me that these 'little girls' had nothing to look forward to their entire lives other than birthing and caring for kids and obeying their father and spouses. Disgusting!
I was best friends with a girl who was the oldest of 7. When her parents announced they were expecting, she didn't even try to hide her unhappiness. It just meant more work for her.
@@CampLJNC That was the impression I got then and turned out to be true. It's insane for Michelle to have more kids than SHE could care for and put that responsibility on CHILDREN who had no say! AND, I don't honestly know how they did not lose any of their children due to neglect or being in the care of kids too young to have that responsibility.
@@Serenityblu23 Hmmm. I understand that they were taught to joyfully do whatever chores needed to be done and had to "keep sweet", but were the brothers really under the illusion that they enjoyed doing all that laundry?! How obtuse.
I’m surprised that Jinger finally came out to say how she really grew up in a household of 19 siblings. She seemed much more mature in this video despite how Jeremy kept interrupting her.
I think the distance from her parents has been a good thing to allow her to learn to think for herself and develop her own self plus her relationship with her husband and children is strong as well ❤❤
Yes, except she has gone from the umbrella of her father to the umbrella of her husband which means she may have more of a voice than she has yet been allowed to use!
I think that it needs to be more specific cuz it’s not just kids raising kids it’s the daughters raising the kids the daughters doing all the chores the sons don’t have any responsibilities
I watched only briefly- it sickened me to see to see a 10 year old who was responsible for the laundry for the whole family. This little girl with all these washing machines and dryers . I’ll never forget thinking how ridiculous this was and again with an older kid responsible for raising one of their siblings. As Michelle just sitting there not mothering her own children
Janna is quickly coming up to the age where pregnancy will become high risk for her, age wise. I wonder how that will affect the way JB treats her.. as in will he think less of her, perhaps loosen up the reins on who she dates since she won’t be a baby making machine..? IDK.. how ARE ‘spinsters’ treated in that cult?
I think any progress is progress. Personally, I lean more toward the way Jill has approached things, but I’m not in Jinger’s shoes, or in her heart, or in her mind, and I’m certainly not going to judge her approach or her decisions. I’m proud of both Jill and Jinger for having the courage to write those books and to speak out, and to look for a different way to live.
@WithoutACrystalBall If you like the makeup, you look great. Personally, just for me, I’m so not crazy about that much makeup. You are beautiful either way because your heart is beautiful.
Being a cult survivor myself, I’ve learned that it takes everyone doing everything in order to reach cult members! It’s not a one size fits all type of thing. I’m happy seeing Jill & Jinger handling it differently. All we can do, is to never give up exposing these cults! The more things are exposed, the better chance of members coming to their own conclusions & finally waking up.
I'm so proud of Jinger for finally calling out her parents on their horrible parenting. I'm also proud of the other Duggar children that are breaking away from their parents and getting out of the IBLP cult.
Why is that? Or do you believe all orginazid religion is a cult. It seems like she is a regular Christian now. Whats wrong with that I find it beautiful that she found a way to believe in a healthy way.
@@Sunflowers_220 No. I have no problem in general with organized religion. However, maybe do a little research on Grace Community Church where Jeremy is a Pastor. He had do sign a document that “ features racist , homophobic and transphobic declarations “ . They are similarly strict and have abusive and controlling thoughts regarding how women should act and be treated. They are different from IBLP in a lot of ways. However, Just because she can wear pants now if she wants and says her children can date instead of court doesn’t mean it’s not still a fundamentalist religion. Again, maybe do a little research instead of accusing someone of having a problem with all organized religion. IBLP is abusive to women and is if nit cult like a very high control organization. I believe
I believe people who characterize a traditional Christian church as a "cult" would disagree with any church that doesn't embrace every progressive and secular principle that comes along. You're being just as judgmental as you accuse them of being.
@@dewolfish270 Jeremy and Jinger’s current church is NOT a traditional Christian church. Any Evangelical leaning church that holds females in a lower class than the males is not a traditional church. So, no clue what you are going on about.
Matt and Abby have been a couple of my favorite people on RUclips for about 4 yrs. Because they're a genuine, sweet, funny and endearing young couple. So, I feel the need to share whats true about the kind of people they actually are, based on their content and what they, their family members and friends have shared over the years. So for anyone who cares to know keep reading. They were both the sort of goofy, naive, goody two shoes type growing up (still sort of are), a couple of theater kids. Matt didn't kiss a girl until he was 18... and he married her. Despite not being religious, both chose to save themselves for marraige because they felt it was something special and sacred you only share with your spouse. Matt isn't shy about expressing how enamoured he is with his wife, consistently complimenting and building her up. Abby is anything but an oppressed wife. Though they naively showed their 1st son on social media for the 1st yr, they chose to stop when their 2nd was born because, they wanted to protect their children and not exploit them. They started the "Unplanned Podcast" about a year and a half ago and it's grown to be fairly popular. They've had a lot of very well known guests, both from social media as well as celebrities. They're NOT professional interviewers. Their format is just being a regular couple sitting down having conversations with people and asking mostly unscripted questions. I don't do tiktok, but I know their following is huge and they have 5 or 6 million subscribers on their RUclips channel. There are people who hate to see other peoples success and want to tear them down and destroy it. When you have endless hours of content across social media you're bound to occasionally have said things people don't like, came out wrong, gets misconstued, or something that can be cliped and used without the context of the conversation making it sound bad. This is what was done by the RUclipsr who started all of this. I only watched part of the video and was in absolute shock and apalled by what she'd created. It couldn't be further from the truth about the kind of person Matt is. It's a deliberate viscious and malicious attack on a person who absolutely does not deserve it. Negative stories get clicks. The people watching, commenting, shareing and jumping on the cancel bandwagon aren't followers, they know nothing about these people or their content. Their baseing their entire opinion off this carefully crafted lie. They're are a couple of really "good kids" that have had a lot of success making relatively cute, funny and often wholesome videos. Marraige isn't sunshine and rainbows all the time and they've been vulnerable enough share that too at times. They're human just like the rest of us. And better ones than a lot of us. Now someone has compiled a few minutes worth of clips out of thousands of hours of social media content, and packaged it with the intent of destroying this successful young couple. It's insideous. I left a comment on that video in support of them and the truth, and the vultures who eat that stuff up attacked me harshly for it.
Yeah and there's been a couple of things that Matt does that seem a little bit mean, but honestly I think the guy is a little bit autistic... Hopefully the couple is doing okay
Katie, I so appreciate your kind and respectful commentary with regard to Jinger's desire to reach her family. I thought you might be a bit hard on her but you handled this so well. This is one of your best videos. I love that your skills have grown and your ability to analyze the situation at hand is really good. I'm a committed Christain, and you may disagree with me on that choice, but I want this family to be free from this demented, twisted, perverted version of the gospel very much. You are gifted at going beyond the surface and exposing not just the lies but the long-term harm and impact of these cults. Thank you for sharing this important video.
Yes, Katie’s very insightful and good, at this type of work!! And she’s a GREAT speaker!! She DEFINITELY has found her nitch!! I honestly think she could become an interviewer or or news broadcaster on TV or Radio!! She is, in every way, a professional!! GO KATIE JOY!!
Exactly - which is why Jinger and Jeremy still have contact with the sibs - they don't need the money like some of the others did. But bottom line is it was not fair that as stars of the show they were not getting any money.
I found Abby obnoxious. She talks over everyone. One thing I noted about something Jeremy spoke on. He said ‘gothard plays the rules not the game’ and I liked how he showed Jinger how Gothereds teaching wasn’t really biblical at all.
Katy, your makeup looks amazing!!! I'm proud of Jinger. Not even Jill could talk negatively about the parentification that was forced onto the girls. Let alone calling it unhealthy. Wow!
I remember being very shocked to find out Jim Bob kept all the money. Especially considering the name of the show and they weren't even allowed to be to find out Jim Bob kept all the money. Especially considering the name of the show and Jim Bob and Michelle weren't even going to be on it. I thought he would get a cut of their money!!!! But they would be paid for literally having their own show not Jim Bob.
Oh my God I just saw a tick tock about blanket training and how Michelle wrote about that in her book. I am disgusted. Imagine wanting to break your child's spirit from the time they're a baby. When it's perfectly natural for them to start reaching out for things that's a part of growing and learning.
I know someone who watched this show early one and had a just beginning to crawl baby. She excitedly told me about this great training she had learned about from a tv show - blanket training. “And the mom has lots of kids so it must work!” I made a deal with my friend if she could do an adult version of blanket training I would support her. She agreed. I had her sit in the middle of her couch and she couldn’t move from there for three hours at least. She had to keep her feet on the floor. No phone, no tv but I would give her reading material. Anytime she violated movement rules or complained loudly I got to squirt her with a water pistol. She agreed to the rules. I filled 4 water pistols, got 2 towels, and gave her two months old magazines and my old statistics textbook. She laughed and settled in. I had gone back to school so I figured I had about half an hour to study. Nope. She got bored before that and quit squirted. In the end I ran out of water pistols before the time was up, she had two wet towels, and her baby was saved from blanket training.
They also could’ve just wanted to hear Jinger’s perspective on things rather than saying things like “well Jill says…” so they just could have wanted her POV and only her POV
I didn't take it that jaramy was inappropriate. It seemed he was excited and in shock that this question was asked by gingers parents. Plus, you are right in that the question should have been directed to one or the other
Katie, I really like your take on this. I also appreciate and respect you for saying that you used to see it as black and white, but from your recent work on the documentary, you see things from a new perspective. That's why I like hearing what you gave to say. You are authentic, and not afraid to learn and evolve, and share.
It took me a while to figure this out because I used to be around a lot of evangelical homeschool families who have a lot of kids . And it was always the parents of said children that defended their choice to have tons, or outsiders looking in deciding this was such a "wonderful family" but noticed nobody interviewed the children who had to grow up in that actual family. my mom comes from a family of 13 children , believe me neither her nor any of her siblings went on to have large families themselves and there's a reason for that.
Katie, it's hard for regular families too. I was always so close to my dad growing up. Only became close to my mom as an adult, after I was diagnosed with a mental illness. After the divorce, I chose to live with my dad. (I legally had a choice because I was old enough). But we watched X-Files together.
Just a bummer that the Duggar parents won't ever get out of that teaching. My Dad still is living Bill Gothard Bible way...just sad. My two siblings finally broke free from Gothard teaching
I don't follow Jeremys life but i think he's been very good for Jinger She has grown so much and for her to speak out like she does in my opinion it doesnt appear that Jeremy is controlling her, maybe he's extra overprotective and that is understandable I hope that's what it is because Jinger is a beautiful soul
I thought it was an excellent interview. Jinger was so reflective. One thing that was said in the podcast was that Bill Gotherd is against adoption. That surprised me because the Bible talks all about taking care of orphans. I love Matt and Abby’s podcast and I think the criticism is unfair.
Im wondering if it helped that Jinger and Jeremy also seemed to be alot more financially secure due to Jeremy's soccer career. This was mentioned in the show years ago. I think it's great that Jinger and Jill have manged to break free,I hope more of them can .
So had Jinger not signed the same contract that Jill had signed where she basically signed her life away and had to fight to get out of it? I just wonder how Jinger had an easier time walking away from the TLC contract.
Katy Joy: you are still the very best Moderator/journalist! This is why so many moderators/journalists climb on your shoulders and put you down. They want to be as good as you! Just saying !!🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Happy for Jinger. Would love to know at what point she and Jeremy decided to wait to have children. Perhaps they discussed it on their honeymoon? So glad they did it makes for a healthier marriage
it was the same for Catholics prior to the mid 1960s when birth control came into wide use after the supreme court case Griswald Vs Connecticut in June 1965. granted there's still a small percentage of women of child bearing age who opt out of the pill or are precluded from its use for medical reasons such as Blood clotting disorders risk factors for heart attack or stroke etc. try having a child with disability or medical needs and still choosing to have more than a Dozen children its not going to work well. my parents stopped after 2 in part because I their oldest needed more supervision due to disabilities and mom having extreme difficulty with pregnancy including severe morning sickness causing Hospitalization on multiple occasions
Another great show. I think all the Duggar girls represent themselves truly and openly. They aren’t responding angrily or with vengeance, but thoughtfully. Also I really like your makeup.
What's crazy is every woman lived like the Duggars until birth control was made readily available. Most families had 6 or more kids & the older kids were expected to help at a very young age. I read a story of a woman with 10 kids who worked as a sharecropper. The kids over 7 worked the fields & the ones under 7 stayed home & took care of the babies. She lived in a shack with no running water or electricity. This was in the 1960's.
Condoms were always available though, if the husbands knew where to get them and methods of family planning were known about. Some people did limit their family size but I suspect it might have been down to issues with fertility or just "abstaining" mostly!
Sure seems like jinger sure is opening up more and more on each podcast. Who knows what else she will or may expose next. It’s part of her healing I suppose
There is only one mystery that I would love to know the truth about with the Duggars…and that is the Jana story. How on earth did that woman escape marriage at a young age, practically arranged marriage (b/c as much as the other older girls appear very happy in marriage, those young men were chosen by JB) & motherhood? It makes no sense to me. I know people guess reasons, but I’d like to know the actual facts.
@@powderandpaint14 Lord, I therefore can’t decide if she is fortunate to have dodged multiple pregnancies or unfortunate to live a life of servitude to her parents & younger siblings. Surly she must yearn for a partner in life of her own!
I have seen and experienced the Jehovah’s Witnesses cult’s shunning in my family . I have a cousin that is trying to fade out of the JW cult slowly hoping that she doesn’t get full on shunned. So far she is full on shunned by her parents. The JW cult practices strict shunning where if you get disfellowshipped or disassociate, they will say an announcement in front of the congregation. The elder at the podium will say “Jane Doe is no longer a Jehovah’s Witness.” Then the congregation will avoid you and not speak to you. I grew up in this cult.
I have watched the Duggers from the beginning and I really like the older girls and I think Jinger and Jill and their husbands are all very mature and Awesome people and in my opinion have done nothing wrong only good 😁
I remember when Jinger said, "CITY PLEASE!" when they were talking about where she wanted to live as an adult. I knew then she would be having a million kids.
I just talked about that with my sister. I remember when one of the staff asked Michelle what she thought about what jinger said about the city life. She told the staff that jinger wanted to live near her family and that they misunderstood what jinger was saying. I knew than jinger was going to live a different life from what she grew up with.
Notice how none of her siblings besides Joy Anna and Austin have visited her this year. But Not surprised that she doesn't want a lot of kids. And something's up cause they have their house on the market. Wonder if they getting ready to leave California???
I like Matt and Abby, not everything they believe in I agree with… I usually only listen to certain topics or interviews… they are quite a bit younger but I don’t think Matt is interrupting her purposely, they have discussed several times on their podcast about Matt’s realization that he is ADHD and how Abby has helped him get the diagnosis. I think her knowing will help with understanding him and I think them being in couples therapy before it’s an issue is great. That aside. I think Jeremy just has a big personality… from someone who also has a big personality. When you feel passionate about something it’s hard to stop talking… buuut I think in this interview Jinger did an amazing job of being patient and taking back the conversation several times. Podcasts are hard, they aren’t informative interviews like you’d do, they are meant to be informal and informal means they aren’t always clean and only one person talking at one time.
@@WithoutACrystalBall that's an oversimplification and inappropriate. Medication isn't the right choice for everyone, and it can take time to find the right medication and dose if someone does choose to use it. Your comment sounds like you're encouraging neurodivergent people to mask and behave in neurotypical ways. Neurodivergence isn't an excuse for being unkind, but expecting close adherence to narrowly defined social norms is ableist.
@@WithoutACrystalBall He literally was just diagnosed, who knows if he’s started his medicine officially or not. And it’s not that simple finding the correct medicine and that can take time, and medicine doesn’t cure adhd it’s a tool to help you. This statement really bothers me, his wife isn’t complaining about the money they make off this kind of content, and really I have seen her hold her own and interrupt him. She fell in love with him the way he is and I’m assuming his creativity and hyper focus is what is helping them make money off their social media.
I LOVE in huge giant letters like the Hollywood sign, that jb was so controlling virtually choosing a possible husband for his daughters, the thick questionaires and conversations he had with them. Expecting to pass over his coercive control of them from him as their dad to their husbands, the best and my most favourite part…Joy’s husband and his church/cult allow women to wear trousers, show flesh, as did Jessa’s, then Jill who now has piercings, occasionally drinks alcohol, wears what she wants to wear and Jinger’s husband is far less controlling than jb. Jb expecting all 4 to control the ladies as he did 😂 my apologies I have a head ache and I can’t express myself well sometimes when I get them or after & during migraines. I remember Jinger saying Jeremy had shelves full of books & she could choose to look at, read or not read whatever she liked. I always thought that was so sad, it’s important for children to learn about fantasy worlds. Lose themselves in the tales of Narnia & the white witch, I loved reading as a child & still do. I remember losing myself in stories, I can credit a man named Gervais Phinn who’s an education assessor here in the UK, he brought me into a safe place where I could forget my depression. He gave me something to focus on & direct my thoughts, if only he could have made me see how abusive my ex was. I even remember where I bought his books the shop went a long time ago. I remember an anecdote in one of his books, he was observing a class of children, if I remember maybe 6 or 7 years old and a child asked him how to spell s**, aghast he nicely asked her what was she writing, in what context? The sweet child said “I’m writing insects, I can spell in but not s**” 😂😂 If anyone reading this has a controlling partner, work mate, boss, sibling or anyone else get rid of them. YOU deserve to be happy, loved & treated well. In my case it was my ex & to a lesser degree 2 other adults. The workmate got the best way to get revenge, served cold 😂 hilarious story but I won’t prattle on & bore people, I’m also supposed to be doing a little work as I listen 😂 nothing strenuous, cutting out stamped butterflies 😁
I want to say that you really do an absolutely fantastic job. I appreciate the hard work you do. I go to you to get the story. This to me is like in the older days. That you go to the paper or TV for your news. If there were awards to give You definitely not only deserve one but would have my vote!!! RUclips any ideas???
I hate to break it to you but Derrick does the same thing with Jill. Yes, it’s good that Jill and Jinger have broken free of the Duggar, misogynistic grip but they still have a long way to go bc neither of them often have interviews without their spouses and I notice that as far as Jill has come, Derrick does a majority of the talking for them.
The thing is that they were trying to produce a lifestyle that revolved around a multigenerational family where the grandmas aunts uncles sisters brothers grandfathers grandmas were all helping each other... and without that it is just the kids...😢
Jinger was in a very different position in as much as Jeremy's and his family clearly were more financially independent. But, how many of her siblings has she managed to get out of the cult?? At the end of the day, Jinger and Jeremy didn't get any money, and were not able to get any of the siblings out of from under the clutches of Jim Bob and Michelle.
I loved being in a family with 7 kids. But my parents weren't trying to have as many babies as possible as often as possible, and I think it's a huge difference in mindset. We're all 2-3 years apart except the last (surprise) baby, who's 5 years younger than the nearest sibling. My family had its issues for sure, but my siblings are the best thing gift from my parents.
I am guessing that their house is not big enough for them. It seemed small as they did the tour. I also noticed that when Jinger spoke about her siblings, she said the oldest one, but then mentioned each other sibling by name. She refused to use Josh’s name.
I am glad Jinger is trying to “be nice” so she can help her siblings get out of the cult but doesn’t she realize that posting videos like this will cause Jim Bob to cut her out? When dealing with these people, you have to be either in or out. There is no halfway with Jim Bob
I wish that Jana would come around... I wish she would just say ..enough...snd go live with Jill or Jinger until she can get on her own 2 feet. I have often wondered why is Jana not married ... I am not saying everyone should be, but this cult is all about marriages and babies... Could she be gay??? If she is that is a ok...Could it be that she is the one who was chosen to remain home to look after all the kids??? Does she have something that prevents her from having kids???? That would not surprise me at all that they would not allow her to marry if that is the case..Those 2 should be ashamed to call themselves parents...
Jim Bob wouldn't like Jeremy because Jeremy is protecting Jinger. Without Jeremy's intervention, Jim Bob could easily suck Jinger back into the fold. The best thing that they did was to move to California.
Texas started it all, California was just where JB was less likely to drop in.
Jim Bob doesn’t like anybody that goes against his word or flock
Do Y'all think that's why Jinger invited JoyAnna and some of the others to California to talk with them about their Cult ?? To get them to open their Minds about their Parents ?? Seems like they don't care about the influence that Jinger and Jeremy have on the kids but They Still Don't want Jill or Derrick around them ???? Weird !!!!
Kendra, Katie and Anna before the pest was arrested are the faves because they are popping out kids
It’s inspiring to see so many of the Duggar children, especially the girls, to call out their Church and their controlling father. Can’t do anything but help and warn others against getting involved or fleeing from this insidious cult.
Well said.
This young lady is a very wise,She’s not only doing what’s best for her health, but she is doing what is best for her family as well.❤
I feel a lot of these kids are smarter and more perceptive than they appear, but they’re bound by fear of the parents so they can’t speak freely and honestly, or are in arrested development.
Love you Jinger your health and the health of your family with the happiness of your family should come first. God Bless all of you.
Well said. If I expressed my thoughts you said it for me. Well done Short and to the point!!
Jinger is strong. It is a joy to see her fly free.
Your mother is inspiring. You were able to learn a lot growing up because of what you were living with and that in itself is a good thing.
@@violet04nunya98 Thank you. I appreciate that.
My dad is the oldest of 12 born in the 40’s so looking back now he’s 81 and can see that he had to grow up fast and help out with siblings.. all that effects you later in life and how you parent with traumas
I’m so happy for Jinger! She finally broke free! ❤
-ish. She and Jeremy are still anti-LGBTQIA+, and therefore they are still Christofascists and bigots. To call them N**is would not be hyperbolic.
Jinger's description of the women having babies over and over reminded me of a puppy mill- and puppy mills are clearly cruel!!
Especially if it's forced, not the mothers choice. Spacing babies is Not a sin.
That’s exactly what I thought . Puppy mill .
Same! I was thinking the leader of that cult is like an irresponsible backyard breeder.
Good observation! So true!
Jinger
I think Jessa was/is his favorite.
@@SusieQZee. Or maybe Jill and Jessa both equally first!
So good to see Jinger doing Critical thinking & analyzing situations instead of ‘being sweet’
The boys didnt have all the responsibility as the girls had. They had to be Mothers and do chores all the time.
It's both these comments as well as the boys are completely tied financially to Jim Bob so they can't speak out Even if they wanted to
Most of the boys are 100% dependent on JB for their livelihoods.
The girls in this family had to become mothers while they were babies themselves.
He is definitely NOT Italian. He is American! Maybe great-great grandma was from Italy. But he is not Italian.
I remember in an interview that the boys said the girls loved doing laundry. None of the girls were laughing. They look pissed off
I remember that episode and noticed the same thing about the girls' faces. Not another one . . . . .
That is not true. The boys all had chores too, sweeping, mopping, cleaning, yard work, etc.
@mariab7453 but they didnt have to take care of the littler kids like the girls did
I watched only briefly- it sickened me to see to see a 10 year old who was responsible for the laundry for the whole family. This little girl with all these washing machines and dryers . I’ll never forget thinking how ridiculous this was and again with an older kid responsible for raising one of their siblings. As Michelle just sitting there not mothering her own children
I was in charge of doing the laundry, cleaning, and other stuff. There were only 6 of us. There situation is sad and they didn't get to have friends.
I just wish Janna would get free.
JB is a total bastard. Michelle is just as guilty.
@@debkauble I heard that she is a Goddard girl. Being used for him and thats why she never got married or whatever. It's sad really.
Jana
I think any progress is progress. Personally, I lean more toward the way Jill has approached things, but I’m not in Jinger’s shoes, or in her heart, or in her mind, and I’m certainly not going to judge her approach or her decisions. I’m proud of both Jill and Jinger for having the courage to write those books and to speak out, and to look for a different way to live.
JB was actively preventing Derrick from getting a job with the IMB. JB didn’t have that kind of power over Jeremy.
Break free, Jinger, BREAK FREE! You go, girl!
And take Jana with you.
@@kristinahuckabee9737Oh, GOODNESS, yes! Poor Jana.

Wonderful news! Katie thank you for the updates and all you do! Enjoy the summer with your guys! 😊❤
It's very telling that she said "I love my parents and they know that" but didn't mention them loving her.
I like Jinger. Always have. However, I also believe she moved from one culty “ religion” to another slightly less culty one.
I believe
@@Bellagirl5677very well said and researched
I believe people who characterize a traditional Christian church as a "cult" would disagree with any church that doesn't embrace every progressive and secular principle that comes along. You're being just as judgmental as you accuse them of being.
@@dewolfish270 Jeremy and Jinger’s current church is NOT a traditional Christian church. Any Evangelical leaning church that holds females in a lower class than the males is not a traditional church. So, no clue what you are going on about.
I think she's very brave sharing her voice. The family seems to control every aspect of their life.
Great video Katie. You do an outstanding job of reporting after much research. We appreciate your work.
So the main difference in the treatment of the daughters leaving the cult is money. Don't touch Jim Bobs money and you can stay in the family.
Exactly - which is why Jinger and Jeremy still have contact with the sibs - they don't need the money like some of the others did. But bottom line is it was not fair that as stars of the show they were not getting any money.
Exactly. Derick couldn’t get a loan for law school because Jim Bob claimed him on his taxes.
Jinger is doing fine and I hope the rest of her family follows her example!!!!
Wow!
I was surprised by the interview as I thought she was done doing interviews based on her book. But I'm happy she went more in depth on it.
The house already has an offer pending. And Jinger blames "the system" not her parents. That was definitely by design.
JB is not a nice person. What kind of Christian does this?
Oh my God I just saw a tick tock about blanket training and how Michelle wrote about that in her book. I am disgusted. Imagine wanting to break your child's spirit from the time they're a baby. When it's perfectly natural for them to start reaching out for things that's a part of growing and learning.
I know someone who watched this show early one and had a just beginning to crawl baby. She excitedly told me about this great training she had learned about from a tv show - blanket training. “And the mom has lots of kids so it must work!”
I made a deal with my friend if she could do an adult version of blanket training I would support her.
Jinger & Jeremy, Jill & Derek, have done a great job shining light, each in their own way.
Matt and Abby had Jill and Derrick on Unplanned Podcast 5 months ago. So they had to be familiar with the Duggars.
I was going to leave this EXACT same comment before I saw yours! lol Yeah, they just played dumb for the sake of the interview.
Plus, you are right in that the question should have been directed to one or the other
Jeremy, let your wife speak
Katie!!! you're great!!! such a unique perspective!!!!! much appreciated!!! keep up the good work!!!
Katie, I really like your take on this. I also appreciate and respect you for saying that you used to see it as black and white, but from your recent work on the documentary, you see things from a new perspective. That's why I like hearing what you gave to say. You are authentic, and not afraid to learn and evolve, and share.
I am so glad to see Jinger is growing up and maturing. Love her new perspective
I am halfway through Jill's book. I dunno... All I can say is that Jim-Bob is a psychopath!!!
Children ARE a blessing Katy! It is wrong to have the younger children raise them but that does not mean that their lives are not special!
I don't follow Jeremys life but i think he's been very good for Jinger
She has grown so much and for her to speak out like she does in my opinion it doesnt appear that Jeremy is controlling her, maybe he's extra overprotective and that is understandable
I hope that's what it is because Jinger is a beautiful soul
Oooooh, this is a great question. 🤔
Its because she and Jeremy moved away very early in their marriage, so had a lot less influence from Jim Bob.
Wow! I Have not clicked on a video this fast before.
Ok? I was sitting on ready.
Katie, you look so good!!!
She does, doesn’t she??!!! Katie Joy is a 10 !!!!
At least her husband is allowing her to have a voice.
it was the same for Catholics prior to the mid 1960s when birth control came into wide use after the supreme court case Griswald Vs Connecticut in June 1965. granted there's still a small percentage of women of child bearing age who opt out of the pill or are precluded from its use for medical reasons such as Blood clotting disorders risk factors for heart attack or stroke etc. try having a child with disability or medical needs and still choosing to have more than a Dozen children its not going to work well. my parents stopped after 2 in part because I their oldest needed more supervision due to disabilities and mom having extreme difficulty with pregnancy including severe morning sickness causing Hospitalization on multiple occasions
Jinger said out loud that she wanted to help her siblings get out. Based on that, Jim Bob will label Jinger dangerous.
Jill was on this podcast about 6 months ago! She said a lot of the same things, so I don’t know why they were acting surprised!
Because Jinger doesn’t really go there.
I love Jinger, she is so well spoken
Sure seems like jinger sure is opening up more and more on each podcast. Who knows what else she will or may expose next. It’s part of her healing I suppose
There is only one mystery that I would love to know the truth about with the Duggars…and that is the Jana story. How on earth did that woman escape marriage at a young age, practically arranged marriage (b/c as much as the other older girls appear very happy in marriage, those young men were chosen by JB) & motherhood? It makes no sense to me.
I know people guess reasons, but I’d like to know the actual facts.
Often in that system eldest daughters are expected not to get married but stay at home and look after the parents as they get older instead.
She didn't really CALL Her Parents Out . She said She saw in the SYSTEM ,,,Kids Raising Kids!!
I love Jinger she's always been my favorite she's just the right amount of playful and empathetic
I have watched the Duggers from the beginning and I really like the older girls and I think Jinger and Jill and their husbands are all very mature and Awesome people and in my opinion have done nothing wrong only good 😁
Oh them Duggar parents are scared their kids and gbabies are going to tell all the secrets.
You mean not having a million kids.
@@Serenityblu23 Yeah! They all tried to convince her she meant "closer to a Walmart!"
Notice how none of her siblings besides Joy Anna and Austin have visited her this year. But Not surprised that she doesn't want a lot of kids. And something's up cause they have their house on the market. Wonder if they getting ready to leave California???
Travel from Arkansas to California is very, very expensive. That is the most logical reason other family members have not visited Jinger and Jeremy.
Good post today and wish both girls well
I like Matt and Abby, not everything they believe in I agree with… I usually only listen to certain topics or interviews… they are quite a bit younger but I don’t think Matt is interrupting her purposely, they have discussed several times on their podcast about Matt’s realization that he is ADHD and how Abby has helped him get the diagnosis.
If he has adhd - then he should get on medication & he won’t interrupt anyone
He is on ADHD meds
@@WithoutACrystalBallplus some don’t adapt well to the medication, and this was a very recent diagnosis
He’s an adult who has created habits and that takes time and therapy. This statement really bothers me, his wife isn’t complaining about the money they make off this kind of content, and really I have seen her hold her own and interrupt him. She fell in love with him the way he is and I’m assuming his creativity and hyper focus is what is helping them make money off their social media.
You look beautiful, Katie! Your hair, your complexion, your eyes and brows!
The sweet child said “I’m writing insects, I can spell in but not s**” 😂😂
If anyone reading this has a controlling partner, work mate, boss, sibling or anyone else get rid of them.
I feel bad for both Jinger and Jill. 😔
Katie-your eye makeup today looks so good!! Love the sparkle!✨
Beautiful assessment of the thing.
I am guessing that their house is not big enough for them. It seemed small as they did the tour. I also noticed that when Jinger spoke about her siblings, she said the oldest one, but then mentioned each other sibling by name. She refused to use Josh’s name.
It was pop babies, get married as soon as you can; and pop babies once your married.
What happened to the younger kids when their sister/parent got married and moved away? Did Jana have a lot of kids to take care of?
I am glad Jinger is trying to “be nice” so she can help her siblings get out of the cult but doesn’t she realize that posting videos like this will cause Jim Bob to cut her out? When dealing with these people, you have to be either in or out. There is no halfway with Jim Bob
I watched the podcast, it was very well done.
That would not surprise me at all that they would not allow her to marry if that is the case..Those 2 should be ashamed to call themselves parents...
off topic but I love your eyeliner here katy- do you recommend any brand etc?
When will Jeremy learn we want to hear Jinger speak, not him!
