Dessert (sweet treat) has 2 and Desert (barren wasteland) has one. The easiest way to remember this is the reason dessert has two esses is because you always want more.
The trick I was taught as a kid...Dessert (the sweet mealtime) has 2 S’s and Desert has 1. Dessert is something you want MORE of , so think of Dessert with having MORE S’s than Desert. It sounds less convoluted actually saying it rather than writing it 😂
