Wow this was such a good video. Then I looked at the view count and the comments and saw not as many as I expected for the quality of this video. So, I liked and subscribed. You made a lot of really good points in the video. I particularly liked how you explained that power rankings shouldn't go based on head to head. Yes, head to head competition helps, but it doesn't mean that situation will happen every single time those two teams play against each other. We don't know what's going on in the locker room and we don't know how much injuries will impact the team. It's impossible to make a head to head power ranking after week 2 in the NFL just because there will almost guaranteed be an upset. Like the example you said, the Ravens beat the Bills. Well, the Ravens lost to the Raiders and the Raiders lost to the Panthers. So, I guess we have to bow to Bryce Young and the Panthers overlords now. No, on every given week, something unexpected can happen and we never know what could happen. But we try to pick apart those games and figure out what could've happened to make that upset situation happen. The team will likely learn from it. You learn more from losing anyways, because you get more of an ego the more you win.
This seems to misrepresent the connection between ranking and rating. Generally power RANKINGS of any meaning are derived from power RATINGS. Power rating systems (e.g. Massey-Peabody, KenPom, Bradley-Terry, SP+) serve as the means of quantifying relative team performance, generally in terms of margin of victory against an average opponent in a neutral environment. Power ratings serve as the basis for estimating things like point spreads and team/game totals. The sequential ordering of those teams (power ranking) doesn't really add much beyond serving as a conversation-starter.

Appreciate the kind words. Planning to keep grinding in 2025 and hopefully the views will follow 🫡
This channel is so underrated man. I haven’t seen this kind of content anywhere on RUclips
Let's go Detroit!
