Man, I always thought Wally was underrated as a rival. Ever since ORAS came out, he really did have the best glowup - Masters just makes the theme even better... but an 8-bit ver? *CHEF KISS*
@@gabeskai Well when you think about it, he actually puts in the effort and training, succeeding at all the gyms, unlike May/Brendan. If the Hoenn league had a new challenger after you, it certainly would be Wally.
Very late reply to this but I thoroughly believe Wally was the perfect rival and I'm going to go into way too much detail describing why From the very start Wally is below everyone else, he's a sickly boy, he has no confidence at all but he's determined, you can examine his room and he has tons of study information and there's even unique lines of text for his bookshelf stating he's been studying specific info and placing notes where he needs them, he starts out with less than nothing due to his health and image of himself not being great but he pushes himself eventually to asking for a pokemon from the local gym leader and even in this he still needs someone to help him, he's not amazing at anything he basically has no idea what he's doing practically but still wants to learn. He's more real than any other rival I can think of as they always start somewhere or have some other motive, wally had to earn everything he had and even then it takes him awhile. By the time you get to see him later he's really not changed much, he can't even ask you to be his rival and he loses his first battle to you and accepts that he's not ready. He's understandably frustrated but he doesn't take it out on anyone else and even struggles to ask you to compete with him before running off in embarrassment. He has flaws and they're very clear. Now the rest of the game is where I REALLY think they should have done more with him but I suppose they didn't want to break up the pacing, they could have had sections where you don't really *see* or talk to him but he shows up and you hear about him from the tv or interviews and they could have fleshed out his building confidence that way but we got what we got The next time you see him he's waiting for you at the end of victory road in a field of flowers, he's much more confident and his team is far better than it was, even learning how to mega evolve along the way with his fully evolved partner, he's determined and won't stop until he beats you but in the end his team isn't really elite 4 worthy while yours is and you beat him. He's frustrated even screaming out in anger but quickly composes himself and thanks you because he realises that you are his drive to keep improving himself, without you he couldn't have even got to anywhere near where he was at that moment and this continues on into the post game. If you do literally everything in the game wally comes back for several rematches and his last one is one of the highest level hardest trainer fights in the entire series. Honestly I think Wally had more potential than any rival who's ever been in the series entirely because of his drive to better himself through competition and self improvement, he came from health issues and no help besides the ralts you helped him get which compares to blue having his grandpa be a professor or most of the other rivals who have some help along the way is so endearing. I hope he makes at least cameos in future games.
I haven’t really seen anyone else remixing the versions specifically from Masters EX, even tho they’re really cool, so thank you so much! Sounds awesome!
@@the_ej1970 I've been genuinely waiting to see this done for him as a new variant. The idea of seeing him officially in a ninja outfit would be genuinely cool.
Never took Wally seriously or really cared for him when played Gen 3. But in ORAS at the end of Victory Road, it finally felt like he grew into his own
A Masters Ex remix from you, hell yeah!! Admittedly i was never super fond of Wally's theme in ORAS but Masters Ex did a great arrangement of it and now in your style it's a bop!
What's more meaningful? Someone destined for greatness following the golden path laying ahead of them, becoming a champion as if fate itself were intent on facilitating this? Or someone weak and frail, wanting to experience the things others take for granted, finding strength through the kindest and challenges of others to live a life that's exciting and worthwhile? Wally may lose to the player character, sure, but how many other sick, pitiable children build a team of Pokemon and make it through Victory Road to challenge a prodigy of unparalleled skill? Very simple character and execution but it's pretty unique to see in the series imo, most rivals are presented as your equal or the gap between your character and others is very wide. Wally challenges you with the intent to win, but he loses and keeps going. Not blaming his Pokemon or others, just stating his desire to train further and be the best he can be with his team
I really liked his theme. It really tells you what's happening. You're fighting a seemingly weak yet very determined kid that went through a big glow up.
🙏 I've been waiting for this since your initial teaser on twitter and the wait was so worth it! Loved the part at 0:45! Also Gatekid absolutely popped off with the animations, been so excited to see them in a lot of your latest works 💚💚💚
Is this right we finally know what the stars from Pokémon scarlet and violet wood look like what’s your final evolutions and more that’s cool right bro
How the heck did I just find this now?!??! Oh my freaking goodness I teared up……my absolute favorite and first rival……anything omega/alpha hits so hard…….and seeing my man over here mega his Gallade for the first time……..thank you for doing this theme song the most perfect justice
I don’t know why but this remix kind of sounds like a final phase from your friend who turns out to be the final boss in the game. This theme kind of has that feeling that I just don’t know how to describe. It’s like that your whole journey has come up to this point and now the up beat music is meant to represent the past when you and your friend were well just friends and nothing more.
I know it’d be a ton of work but id love to see you make an 8-bit cover of any of the songs from scarlet and violet in the future. No pressure though! And obviously take your time!
If there's one thing Emerald did wrong It's that they made that one water dude Champion instead of Wally having just dethroned Steven. Perhaps something for the Delta Emerald that we truly deserved but never got.
Yeah!!! You remixed the best version! It sounds great!
ITS THE BIG MAN
This video is Terminal approved 👍

My head canon will always be that Wally becomes the next champion after the player.😊

ORAS was a glow up for Wally as a character.
Pokemon Masters EX was a glow up for his theme.
Everytime he returns, something about him gets a glow up.
imagine ninja wally as a design glowup where his design references his ancestor

@@unofficialmeme5972 I wanna see every rival as an adult not just red and blue I wanna see Wally and Silver

This is awesome I love the Masters version cause it’s not so repetitive like the original
Excellent remix!
I hope Wally's not beating you up too hard 😄
Am i the only one that feels wally's theme doesn't feel like a battle theme? Is just so calming... :)
LOVE that you chose one of the best remixes from Pokémon Masters!
It sounds amazing & the animation is amazing too! 💚
Ayy, a Master remix, nice! If you're doing more of them, I'd love to hear your version of Ingo and Emmett's theme too.
I second this!

20 OUT OF 10! You have done one of my favorite characters in the whole Pokémon franchise a HUGE justice today! 👏👏👏
:D the the guitar sounds of the original with the parts from the masters version translate so well to 8-bit
I really liked his theme. It really tells you what's happening. You're fighting a seemingly weak yet very determined kid that went through a big glow up.
I always loved that the masters version decided to give this song an intro.
The original was good but i didn’t like how it just abruptly started
what a god damn banger
Ah, the 8 bit legend is back, thnx for the upload m8t
I love the intro of the Masters Version, not my favorite Battle theme in masters but that just shows how great the soundtrack is

This music from ORAS IS THE BEST in the whole of Pokémon, also this is the best remix ive ever heard of it!
Not just the theme, but the art looks great. Excellent job!
