Your first battle is an absolutely perfect tutorial for how there's super effective moves in the game, I love how they did that. Wooloo out first to give enough exp for level up which gives a new shiny move to use, ofc a new player is going to pick the fancy new option to use
@@jaguarnick4643 right but that's one time and in the very beginning of the game, you get a new move and you see that its super effective, you either put 2 and 2 together and say "ok grass beats water" or dont and dont know why but only know that it is. There are what like 18 types? Learning all type machups isnt easy for a new player so having someone periodically tell you throughout the game is good. Its also clearly not meant for experienced players so you can feel free to ignore it. Pokemon is not a game built to completely cater to veterans. There are things that do such as shiny hunting, the battle tower, and competetive but there are other things that are meant for new or casual players, hops explanations, Pokemon camp, and tutorial signs.
@@asuspiciousloli3770 it also helps that after you've met a Pokemon for the first time, you are told what is super effective and what isn't, so you can learn which type matchups work, which don't, and how having another type plays into those matchups.
@@SnancyNegative exactly, I had my sister play this and this is the first time shes played a Pokemon game. Of course she was confused with most of it because shes 10 but that's the kind of audience it appeals to. A lot of people shit on Pokemon because its too easy but where they're at is a good medium. For brand new players its challenging and complicated but not impossible and for returning players its easy but not a preschool game.

Hop is my favorite rival now, he’s the kinda rival that I’d love to see more of, a good friend yet always determined to try his best to defeat you in battle. Not all rivals need to be a jerk in order to be good! Awesome remix by the way!
I feel like there's a misconception with jerk rivals. Silver and Gladion were the only ones who were out right jerks in the beginning. A lot of people don't read in between the lines with Blue and don't realize he's just teasing an old friend. At worst, Blue has an ego problem but he wasn't as bad as the other two. Wally, Barry, N/Hugh, XY friends, are all range from amicable to giving you free stuff everytime they lay eyes on you.
I really wish we had had less from him that was holding our hand through super basic stuff, and more interaction and voice lines from him. I also think that it's an absolute travesty that him and Marnie never interact despite having really similar character arcs (where they are both living in the shadow of the brother they look up to), and the fact that Marnie's determination to step out of her brother's shadow could have inspired him to grow more as an individual and just. Have a more interesting, cohesive character story.

I haven't even played this game but I have heard his theme.... but this? This is magical. It somehow feels so nostalgic, and not just because it's 8-bit. Usually with these covers it's nothing too special, at least with other channels that do 8-bit covers. This cover though? It feels softer, more reminiscent, more memorable. This is definitely one for the playlist, great work.
